Lawful Good represent!

Just today, a friend of mine was handing out donuts because it was their birthday. I had one, and later that day they were giving out some more. Having one extra, they offered it to me, but I declined. Why? Because I already had a donut, and I didn't do anything amazing for them anyways, so it's unfair for me to get one when someone else might not have gotten it.

The point of my little story was that I think this represents my Lawful Good nature. I don't usually think of myself as being someone who has strong ideals and a strong moral code, but it seems that in practice, I end up following it. I seem to be unusual amongst my peers in my lack of an adversarial attitude towards authority as well, which places me further along the Lawful spectrum. I'm typically rule abiding as well, and I feel guilty if I abuse the rules that someone came up with in good faith. Good comes to me as a sense of responsibility, to do what I know that I ought.

In fiction, Lawful Evil is either my favorite alignment or my least favorite. I despise the tired old Chaotic Good vs Lawful Evil stories (as a lawful good person, can you guess why?), but I love Lawful Evil where the character is on the line between Evil and Neutral, and you wonder if they will choose Lawful (going to Lawful Neutral) or Evil (going to Neutral Evil). It's such an interesting thing to see.

I think of myself as lawful good.

Even though, I think I have a alter-ego/split-personality like Jekyll/Hyde, and I think when I have like a bad temper I just think of myself as Norman Osborne well since he was split between him as himself and when he had a evil persona of Green Goblin. I'd like to think my life is split with just two personas.

Then there's my "brony conversion story," in which by example as much as admonition that eclectic group pulled me back here, where I always belonged and desired to be. As terrible as that bygone period of my life was, I think the way I devalued myself back then has helped me presently to find more courage in interposing myself to keep another from harm. And learning how fragile and fleeting possessions are through my reckless actions back then has helped me to be more generous now.

As for the significant and not so significant people in my life — my parents first; they are about as hard to the Lawful side of things as can be. Both of them almost straddle the line of good and neutrality when it comes to the vertical axis, with my dad a little more on the good side than my mom. There was a time where I would have placed them farther into neutral, in days when they were more content with their situations so long as they weren't in dire need of anything, but in more recent days they've started to determine that their ability to decide is a bit more important than simplicity. We were always at odds when I was growing up. I'd hear of something I perceived to be an injustice, whether somebody got too harsh a sentence for some offense or was let off the hook despite obvious guilt; every time I would be furious, and their attitude was largely apathetic because they weren't affected.

My closest and first of only two friends is Lawful Good. At times he can seem more neutral than good, but he's just very guarded and secretive. The other is also Lawful Good, but he's a simple, country guy who grew up in a normal family and just wants to live a quiet life.

The majority of my mom's side of the family is Neutral Evil, and a few of them are Chaotic Evil; one person is Lawful Good and one person is Chaotic Neutral. The majority of my dad's side of the family is Lawful Good.

Lawful Good absolutely, I have always had an intense passion to uphold the rights of other people and punish the guilty. I could not imagine any other alignment that would fit me.

Lawful Neutral.  I have no use for concepts of "good" or "evil", except for what they tell me about the person using those terms to describe themselves or others.  I have some elements of Chaotic Neutral, but only insomuch as they reflect my push for  meaningful progress, even if it russles jimmies...or maybe sometimes because it rustles some particularly closed-minded jimmies that are in need of a good rustlin'.

I don't really align with any of these. I'm a little bit of all of 'em. I'm not good, I'm not bad, but I'm not really neutral either. I'm just... me.

Recovering chaotic evil. I wasn't always a nice guy.

More recently I find that I fluctuate around lawful neutral, with a bit of lawful good and lawful evil. Truth be told, I prefer being Luke Skywalker, but sometimes have to play the role of Darth Vader... for the greater good, of course. :3

Chaotic Neutral. My D&D character and I share the same alignment :3

By my thoughts I'm probably Chaotic Evil, though...my actions don't reflect that.

I'll edit this to be more in depth later.

The way you put it, seems like I would fall into a lawful evil alignment. I guess that fits into my nature, but there's just some things in there that don't seem to fit with my personality at all.

I suppose I'm "Neutral Good" because I believe that some laws and societal norms are absolutely for the best, but most certainly not all of them. I have no qualms with being against leaders and organizations when society deems them as "Good" and they're so very clearly not. I follow my own ethics, irrespective of what society believes and what law dictates. Not saying that I'm one of those foolish enough to believe I'm a "non-conformist", just saying that I don't believe things just because I'm told to. I don't believe things are wrong because the law says so, or if some ancient book that claims to be divinely inspired says so.

Chaotic good or chaotic evil

I don't care if millions will die to create the society I envision and to stop the mass murder of people by religious terrorists and foreign powers.I might even have to crush friends, families and people from my tribe to do it but it is necessary to bring about peace, order and prosperity.

I believe that humans should be forcibly depopulated for the greater good of the planets and to prevent them from constantly doing serious harm to nature and other animal species.

There's a test you can take on the D&D website to find out what your alignment is - I got True Neutral.

And I guess that somewhat describes me - I believe firmly in balancing out 2 extremes, and I think (don't quote me on this one), I'm generally well meaning but only when I want to be.

Just took the test and it came up with this:

Alignment:
Lawful Good ----- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (21)
Neutral Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (19)
Chaotic Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXX (14)
Lawful Neutral -- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (24)
True Neutral ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (22)
Chaotic Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (17)
Lawful Evil ----- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (15)
Neutral Evil ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXX (13)
Chaotic Evil ---- XXXXXXXX (8)

Law & Chaos:
Law ----- XXXXXXXXXXXX (12)
Neutral - XXXXXXXXXX (10)
Chaos --- XXXXX (5)

Good & Evil:
Good ---- XXXXXXXXX (9)
Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXX (12)
Evil ---- XXX (3)

At least I'm less evil than I thought, apparently my overall morality is Lawful Neutral.

Omg, this is too hard, can i just opt out and say I have no clue? Like I've spent at least a good hour re-reading ALL of the options and quite honestly.... I just frankly don't know how to identify myself. I don't see myself in anything really here except maybe true neutral? I'm not sure I really want to align with the good but I do so much to make me not truly good. I try but that doesn't mean I am... I waiver and I have no concept of what I align with. I guess it just depends on my mood that day. Is anyone else having this problem or is it only just me?

Sorry to post two posts in a row but, my good sir can you provide a link to this online test to help me out?  I would really appreciate this so I can settle my nature once and for all.

There's a test linked in the first post on this page, though I don't know if it's the one he was talking about. It seemed fairly accurate to me.

Neutral

A neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. She doesn’t feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most neutrality is a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil. After all, she would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, she’s not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. The common phrase for neutral is "true neutral." Neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion.

I would say that I'm True Neutral, in that I'm not really a moral person or an immoral person -- just someone trying to live their life and at least make it in this crazy world.

Neutral Good

------------------

I probably most neatly fit in to the Neutral Good category.

I always want to help others and do what's right, regardless of what the law says.

Also, I think that pirating Minecraft would have made me loose my Lawful status.

Of course, Chaotic Neutral is very tempting...

I got chaotic neutral

Detailed Results:

Alignment:
Lawful Good ----- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (16)
Neutral Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (16)
Chaotic Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (18)
Lawful Neutral -- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (20)
True Neutral ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (20)
Chaotic Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (22)
Lawful Evil ----- XXXXXX (6)
Neutral Evil ---- XXXXXX (6)
Chaotic Evil ---- XXXXXXXX (8)

Law & Chaos:
Law ----- XXXXXX (6)
Neutral - XXXXXX (6)
Chaos --- XXXXXXXX (8)

Good & Evil:
Good ---- XXXXXXXXXX (10)
Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXXXX (14)
Evil ---- (0)

I would have considered myself somewhere in the neutral part. I try to help people but I don't always agree with laws/rules. I strive and enjoy helping people in certain ways but don't like feeling bound to anything. I never hurt any one though and I would never pass buy a dying person or anything. I am certified in CPR and first aid:D :P;)

As it says I didn't answer anything evil-ly just more independent I guess?

I think I'm true neutral, it always felt like the alignment I could relate to the most, and I would usually choose it for my character in D&D sessions. There are elements from other alignments that fit me, but true neutral seems to have the most.

Alignment doesn't work in real life. I've thought about it quite a bit and I've heard other people's opinions and my conclusion is that it just doesn't work, for two reasons. First of all, people aren't that simple. Everyone has both good and bad in them. Second of all, everyone is the hero of their own story and, more importantly, no-one is just objectively evil. No-one does things because it seems like an evil thing to do in real life. There is no absolute evil, whereas in D&D there are actual demons and devils which represent pure evil.

If everyone had to be assigned an alignment I think the vast majority of people would be Chaotic Neutral.

Lawful evil, abuse the system, get things I want unfairly without punishment? That sounds pretty damn good to me!

I like order, and I like when people get rewarded for their intelligence, not brutality.
