I believe Rainbow Dash is getting too much screentime.

Well, here's my honest opinion. And this is coming from an RD fan. 

Does she get more attention?

Yes. She has already had two episodes this season, and there's only been ten so far. Well, that's if you count Sleepless In Ponyville, but on second thought, that episode is focused on Scootaloo, not Rainbow. Sure, she gets a lot of screen time in that episode, but that's because it furthers Rainbow and Scootaloo's relationship. Don't forget, though, she hardly had any episodes at all in the first season, and even in the second season she only had three, which isn't really that bad. The only problem is that she appears frequently in other character's episodes.

Does she get more lines?

Of course! She blurts out whatever she's thinking, when she's thinking it. Furthermore, she is the one to say what everypony else is thinking. It's a character trait of hers that we can't do too much about. But not saying that I don't agree that the other characters don't get enough lines, though, because that is quite true. But she really should get some more lines than the other ponies, because it just makes more sense. (except with Pinkie Pie, she should get a lot too) It's just their personalities.

Ah, well I can at least answer this. The reason for me posting was because I just wanted to give my opinion on the matter, that being I don't care who gets more screen time so long as it is entertaining. And to correct the matter Rainbow Dash is not my favorite pony, although I do prefer her over Applejack. I didn't really just show up to argue, nor am I a troll.

Look, my point is, if you make "This pony sucks" thread (In so many words) you have to expect a lot of not really wanted attention, no matter whether you present it in a polite and decent (this thread) way or not (hypothetical "X suckz lul" thread).

If you attack a something loved by many, you are in for a battle. It's simple as that.

I totally agree Applejack is my favourite character out of the whole MLP FIM and Pinkie Pie second and I think even though Applejack had two episodes in a row she still didn't get enough lines and Pinkie Pie has only had 1 episode and a 1/4 of the 'Wonderbolds Accadmy' and did not get many lines in any other lines. But Rainbow on the other hand has had to many lines even if it has nothing to do, in my personal opinion she is horrible most of the times for example in 'Spike at you service' she pretty much let spike die when she let him climb up that rock, she has no consideration, I think Applejack and Pinkie should have an episode and a song, my impression of what I will be doing "Suck on that Rainbow fans" (No offence Rainbow Fans)

No, they aren't, they're contributing something to the thread. See, the thing is, you're assuming everypony who has called this topic pointless is one of those RD fanponies raging about distaste for their favourite pony. You assume everyone who disagrees with you i the same. I had a different reason, but you dismissed me in exactly the same way as you have everyone else. There's your intolerance right there. Reading the posts a lot of people, myself included, have made this a debate over who is the better pony, which this thread is blatantly not intended for. We're done talking about the thread itself. This thread has been leaning to the derailing lot for the past three pages with occasional posts and responses to posts just talking about how these threads and similar threads are all too common, or that have turned into debates back and forth about the person's post intentions. If you believe that there are other threads like this, or that there are in general too many of a 'kind' of thread, it's far more proactive to report this thread as a duplicate, and even help the staff out with possible links you believe are the same thing. Making posts and having little side debates about a thread's status is getting nothing accomplished but arguing.

Lines are a completely different story though. To be honest, RD bugged the shit out of me with the "o shyt fuck discord kick his ass" BS.

Sometimes the writers really need to control that, because sometimes it feels like RD is getting spammed.

It seems as if there are frequently rotating complaints about somepony getting too much attention versus somepony else being ignored. I recall the demand for a Fluttershy episode during the second half of Season 2 grew until "Putting Your Hoof Down" and "Hurricane Fluttershy." Frankly speaking, I was on board with that particular group: I thought she had been neglected in favor of Apple Family-centric episodes. There were a batch (or bushel) of Apple episodes packed into the middle of Season 2.

 

@poniesforfun[/b] is right, I think: Rarity is really the one not receiving much screentime. But Rarity has been entertaining in the spots she has appeared, typically in a comic relief fashion which emphasizes social interactions versus gag humor. That has helped make up for the lack of attention. Strangely enough, Twilight has also been pretty quiet since "Magic Duel", only appearing prominently in "Keep Calm and Flutter On." At least she'll return to the spotlight in the final two episodes.

 

I personally do not have the sense that RD is receiving too much attention. Part of the issue is that she is already very popular and a gregarious personality, thus her appearances tend to be especially noteworthy. But the Rainbow-centric episodes ("Sleepless in Ponyville" and "Wonderbolts Academy") have been no more numerous than the Apple Family-centric episodes ("One Bad Apple", "Apple Family Reunion", and "Spike at Your Service").

 

I'm sure someone will eventually quantify how much screentime Rainbow has actually received.

I'm not really gonna complain about anyone not getting enough screentime. RD is my favorite pony, but I agree Applejack and mainly Rarity need more screentime and lines. But I do have to say, if anyone has too much screentime it's Twilight.

Actually I take that last sentence back, I guess it's just the below explanation that led me to say that. Excuse my quick to judge thing. I'm normally not like that, just when I see some offensive comments towards RD. This topic is getting pretty bad... It's original intent wasn't supposed to offend and it didn't for me. It's the afterwards comments, and that's all.

 

I really love all the mane 6, but I just feel that Twilight is too much of a Mary Sue, I understand she's the MAIN character, but she way outbalances everyone else and only has a few flaws, in fact that's her biggest flaw. But I'm not hating on Twilight fans, cuz as I said, I really do love Twilight.

In Rainbow Dash's defense, why the balls would they make an episode about a massive sporting event, and have Rainbow Dash be completely irrelevant in it. That's like making an episode about Canterlot's biggest fashion show but Rarity had little influence in it.

 

Honestly, I actually think the new episode did a good job a making it a mane 6 episode overall, despite a bigger influence on Rarity, Rainbow, and Twilight
