Wait a second.. they leaked the whole episode??! Since when does Hasbro ever allow a whole episode to be leaked before the date its officially supposed to air?

 

Of any case I feel it was a very good episode... though I admit I found it overly convenient that each of the Mane Six somehow wind up in the castle for their own reasons.

 

I hope this doesn't become a habit of season 4, overly convenient situations.

I was bored at work and watched it too, but I still plan to watch it on Saturday with my kids. A few quick thoughts about it.

 

 

The episode was cute and the new writer, Josh Haber, did an OK job for his first episode. If I had to pick one word to describe it I'd say safe. He did not break new ground but he didn't f$$k it up either. It was mostly a slice of life episode except for two things: first Twilight is in the castle looking for information on the chest and two we get a glimpse of what may be the real shadow pony in the final seconds.

I...I wish I was this noble? I honestly do. But I watch all of them on YouTube anyway, since I very rarely have time to physically sit in front of a TV. Usually I'm multitasking and watching the episode at the same time.

Hey don't feel bad, I'm pretty sure 99% of bronies either stream episodes or watch them on YouTube primarily (myself included).  And good on you for waiting till Saturday even though the episode's already leaked; besides, it's so much more fun watching on Saturday anyway, especially in a stream when everyone else is.  I really hope episodes don't leak like they did last season, just because it's just so much more fun when everyone goes into a new episode on Saturday without having seen it already and excitedly discuss as episodes are ongoing everything that's happening.  Part of the experience, ya know?

Apparently Wonderbolts Academy was leaked before, I just started watching the show when that episode came on so I don't know it that's true.

Yeah, at least 3 or 4 episodes leaked early last season.  Pretty sure most of those might've been intentional on Hasbro/DHX's part, but this sounds like it wasn't and was more some fan figuring out how to leak it early.  Wouldn't make any sense for Hasbro/DHX to leak an episode that early in the season; most of the leaked episodes last season came in the middle or towards the end of the season, not at the very beginning.

I almost can't believe that this happened, but it has happened before so it's very believable.

I won't watch it until Saturday though, I'd rather watch it on TV first than anywhere else.

I'm not really sure how to feel about this season. The first two episodes were definitely far better than the third season's finale, but the third episode seems to be a bit 'meh' to me. I understand that it was important in the sense that it established a new device into the plot, the diary, for keeping friendship notes. I am under the assumption that this diary will be the new format rather than sending letters to Celestia.

 

Also interesting is the changes they've made to the intro. I enjoy that they added Luna in at the end, and the only complaint I have is that Twilight doesn't have wings upon exiting the balloon. 

 

The continuity this season is really getting me pumped. Even in the third episode, they allude to events that happened in the first two, which alluded to episodes from season two as well. Pinkie Sense, for instance, was referenced in the premiere. 

 

I suppose all I can hope for is that Daring Don't is less stagnant than the third episode was. It just felt a bit stiff to me, and the shipping nods didn't help.
