  1. 1. Would you go to Mars, but only if you never returned to Earth?

It seems like it would suck pretty badly to never get to go outside without a spacesuit on, to never get to smell a lawn after it's just been cut-or the dry earth just as it's starting to rain...

Sorry. As cool as it would be to visit, This place rocks pretty hard.

As cool as Mars sounds... I wouldn't want to leave my family and friends. That would be so devastating. Only if every one had to go there, then I would. But me... alone... Not happening huh.png

Mars isn't the kind of place to raise your kids. In fact, it's cold as hell. Not to mention there's no one there to raise them.

If you dig.

I honestly don't see much point, no Internet on mars, no ponies on mars, not color green on mars, no video games on mars, and no music on mars, basically non of my favorite things, so I see no reason to go.

Sure I don't like everyone on earth, but I would get lonely on mars. Plus it's so baron.

Yes I would, but not alone. I'd be happy to leave all the troubles of this place behind, there's not too much beauty left for me. We'd just have to create a huge greenhouse with soil taken and seeds from Earth, possily water (at least the rising sea levels could be solved this way)

And of course bronies should take over the whole planet :P

No. I have always been terrified of heights, and if I go i'm going to go higher than anything. Besides, i'd never see my family, friends, ponies, internet, etc ever again.

I would rather not, I have some nice things here.

Plus, I probably wouldn't be able to watch ponies anymore, or go on forums and the internets. I also feel like I have more to do on this here earth.

Mars would get VERY boring really fast, and you would quickly regret leaving earth just as fast. And you would have a life time of looking up at earth and knowing you screwed up

I am pretty sure the best people for this job would be people who are sick of humanity as a race. They would be less likely to feel bad about this decision...

That would make a good movie idea.

I put allot of though into it actually and decided I certainly would. I mean really.. there are many wonders on this planet... but so much is f***ed up on it too... It polluted, most people are horrid... ego crazed, self centered capitalist pigs who care for nothing but themselves and their profits/bank accounts. There is poverty that could easily be avoided, pointless wars. Countless stuff. Then the opportunity comes along to do something amazing like this, to leave it all.. to travel through space, to go to an untainted beautiful planet, something that should be impossible.. I would take that deal haha

Mars is a great place... to die from the lack of oxygen. biggrin.png

The obvious aside though, it'd be nice to walk on an alien world. Dust scrambling below my feet, taking sight of the barren yet strangely beautiful landscape, and staring up at a red sky just about every moment.

You have to be high to think this a good idea.  Say goodbye to your life on earth is something not many can do (unless you have nothing to live for) and risk are so high you mint as well be dead.  You got to worry about the rocket taking off, food, supplies, water, how well they get more stuff to mars, how well you build house on mars surface since the planet has bad storms, oxygen, etc etc.  The hold idea is stupid and I hope it goes nowhere.

It would be nice to visit a new planet. But in the condition of not going back, i would have to say no.And including that there are nopony out there, leaving and not returning to earth is a bad idea.

No, no thank you anyway... I don't like mars anyway... so why on earth would I want to go there in the first place... top of all that I'm as good as dead once I get there... sure I was one of the first ponies there... but I'll more then likely be the first one to die their too.

That sounds like a pretty miserable existence, to be honest. After all, its not like mars is exactly the most welcoming place to live. You would be stuck in your ship for the rest of your life, cut off from the rest of the earth and its life, occasionally venturing outside in your space suit to wander about the barren depressing landscape that is mars. Probably eating gross astronaught food, instead of real, fresh earth food. Blegh. No thanks to that, i'll stay here where there's vast oceans and beautiful plants and animals, other humans, fresh fertile land to grow food on, a non-harsh atmosphere, internet, and my little ponies.

I don't even know if i'd want to go to mars, even if it was well-colonized by humans. Earth is our home, we simply aren't meant for mars and i'd miss the connection with the earth i feel here.

Why would I do that? I mean, I'm all for space exploration, and spreading the sickness known as humanity as far into the universe as we possibly can, but I have a perfectly satisfying life here, on this blue little marble of ours which I wouldn't trade for anything... well, except for a one-way ticket to Equestria, I guess.
That Mars-1 program that the nutball billionaire is planning... not good.
It's going to fail. Hard. Wanna know why? Because the budget he's spending on the ENTIRE program isn't even half of the amount that goes into your typical ESA or NASA program.
No sir, I'm staying right here.

I know it's for space exploration to explore the vast universe that holds many mysteries, that we can discover. But, it would be miserable being on a round spherical red planet where there is mostly dust and no ponies or friends around. Such a very disappointing experience, except for people who love space travel.

Noooo thank you... I don't want to risk accidentally becoming a character in the Twilight Zone. I wear glasses and if they break, I'd possibly be in a fair bit of trouble. Also I'd think that this would be a pretty bad way to spend your life; separated from all of humanity by millions of kilometres and being left on an uninhabited planet with nothing interesting to do.

No news about people doing silly things, just sort of living out Luna's thousand-year experience. Not to knock it for the people that would like to explore Mars for SCIENCE, but it just isn't the sort of thing I'd like to do.
