What do you want when you die?

I am actually hoping I live long enough for machine storage to become a viable reality. I want my complete and functioning mind to be placed into a computer.

I would personally like to be planted naked in a cardboard coffin and have an oak tree planted above me. As a November born Celt, I'm suppose to have Reed planted, but I have great affection for Oak trees.

To me, it depends entirely on what my family and loved ones want. If it ever looks like my time is coming, it's something that we'd have to have an uncomfortable conversation I suppose. If they want to bury me somewhere and visit, great. If they want to have me cremated, that works too. I'm not likely to be in any position to object.

 

If it's entirely my preference, I'd like to have any organs that anybody could potentially use taken. After that, the idea of being cremated and having my ashes spread somewhere that was important to me sounds somewhat nice.

I've always wanted to be burned in a funeral pyre. I know the heat doesn't get high enough to burn the bones, but I'm dead so it's not my problem.

I'd love to be cremated and have my ashes spread into the ocean. When I die, I don't want someone to have to look at a dull gravestone and mourn over my death, I want them to be able to see something beautiful and be happy.

 

I don't want people to mourn over my death, because death isn't something to mourn over. It's a natural thing that happens to everybody one way or another. Death should be something to be happy over. It puts you into an eternal sleep, to be at peace forever. Sure, enjoy the life you have, but death isn't something to be afraid of, because there's no pain after death. 

 

But in general, the thing I want when I die is for people not to mourn over my death, but to be happy about it. My ashes being tossed into the ocean is just something to help people be happy about it, because what's more beautiful than that?

I'd happily donate organs...I don't know if I'd rather cremation or burial in a graveyard though. I'm not very religious, so maybe cremation...

I have two ideas from which it is difficult to choose. The first is to be buried in the woods at the base of a tree, no coffin and no chemicals, simply left to return to nature. The second option is to be cremated; a portion of my ashes spread to the ocean, another spread in the mountains, and the final portion cast to a strong northern wind.

I don't know, I'm not really too fond of the idea that my body will be in the ground and that it will just decompose with time. I guess being cremated is what I would go for. But for some reason I don't like that idea either. I guess I would just be buried in the cemetery, in a coffin.

I want as many of my organs to be useful to other people as possible. Once I'm out of my body, I don't care what happens to the rest of it. It would be nice if there weren't any cemetery costs associated with having to donate a body to science.

I would like to be cremated. I just can't bear the thought of rotting in the ground. Not my thing. I'd really rather be cremated and have my ashes tossed into the wind.

I actually have a second way I might consider, though I don't think it's possible unfortunately, I don't think I'd be allowed to do it.

But I'd like to be laid into a wooden boat with pennies on my eyes, drenched with oil, and set on fire. Then set adrift into the ocean.

I would very much appreciate that dignity. Or perhaps launched into space, but I think that's out of my price range.
