How will humanity end?

The biggest enemy to humanity, is humanity itself.

Either that, or mother nature being furious, the sun exploding, a random black hole emerging, or a comet heading our way.

Pick your poison.

Hey, that is exactly what I was going to say.

Hyoomuns 4eva!

Well at least what intelligent race that once called itself humanity at lest. We can all debate as to whether that counts as an "end" but my point is that intelligent life that arose from Earth will last far, far, faaaaaaaaaaar into the future.

If we haven't killed ourselves off already, we aren't ever going to, simple as that.

Cats.

The world will end by cats.

They are becoming smarter and smarter and they are planning destruction as you're reading this.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If cats ever develop opposable thumbs, we're screwed. The only reason they haven't killed most of us in our sleep and put the rest in shackles is because they need people to do a lot of things for them. Once they can do it themselves, we're only going to be good for zoos and backrubs.

We will more than likely destroy ourselves sometime in the future, such as war, overpopulation, pollution etc.

I'm not sure how many people have said this already but i think we will kill ourselves off eventually. There is a multitude of ways this could happen though.

Technology is evolving at a somewhat rapid rate in some fields. Google buying all of the robots and computers becoming incredibly powerful. Ive seen some videos recently as well of robots sprinting like humans. (They could also walk up stairs like a human.)

It must only be a matter of time before they are combined. I am not sure what to think of this though.

Another thing i think of is aliens. Most say that if aliens invaded us we would be taken out. I do believe this but i actually think if anyone will invade it will be us invading the aliens. They would be defending themselves from the Aliens. (We are aliens to them or whatever their native language would be).

I know i had other things in mind but i cant think of them anymore. There's my contribution anyways so take that as you will :P

Jeez guys, how many have said some variation of hummanity destroying itself?

We're supposed to be the idealists that see love and hope in others!

It will be nature that deals the final hand, not man. We've survived countless wars, that have been a thousand fold more destructive in terms of death toll than any modern conflict.

The very fact that we see war as the tragedy it is rather than the course of nations as how it was viewed by many in the past alone ups our survivability. No one wants to go to war anymore, isn't that wonderful?!

Humanitarianism has increased as a global practice over the past century.

People are living longer.

If we have not destroyed ourselves by now. We aren't going to, period.

I think the most possible way is a nuclear world war 3. Look what happened to japan in WW2. Another possible reason, is robots getting so clever they wonder why they have to take orders.

We survived Toba, I'm sure we'll survive Yellowstone.

Here's hoping it's a huge meteor and the explosion is big enough to take out the space station/any human in space. I'd rather a whole extinction rather than a futile attempt to bring our species back, it's less painful that way. Either that or whatever happens is horribly ironic.

An eruption at the Yellowstone "super volcano" could put an end to the United States and cause serious economic and climate issues elsewhere in the world.

Sig made by Kyoshi.

Cool things people have said about me:

Never heard of him but I guess just you mentioning him is a good reason not to go anywhere near that name.

(In reference to an author I suggested.)

When we discover a way to manufacture Antimatter, we could then hyper-enrich nuclear weapons to be able to destroy countries, not cities. only then will we truly die as a species.

Antimatter is extremely expensive and would be extremely difficult to even control. It was explored in the Cold War, but they realized it costed way too much resources and money just to create a microscopic part of it. You can't just develop an antimatter weapon without everyone in the world automatically hating you for it.

Interesting that so many people make their predictions based off of warefare or contaminant matter, when humanity, along with a large amount of animal species, will be wiped out by the exhaustion of natural resources, land, contamination of the air, and urbanization and the consequences tied with it.

You do have to know that some countries are working on fixing what they had caused. We would have had our fate sealed with a resource crisis within a few decades, especially oil, but right now, we still have time to catch up before it's too late.

Some natural resources are bound to be used up; that one is inevitable. If we can quickly change what we're doing, then the loss won't be as big as a disaster. But renewable natural resources are pretty much the essentials of life; if that still exists, then humanity will still survive.

@,

I meant "cradle" as in Earth, where we were born. We will spread throughout the galaxy and eventually to the greater universe. Eventually it will die, but by then I don't think it will matter.

Especially if you believe, as I do, that the death of the physical universe will hardly matter to us by then.

@@Steel Accord,

Can't be for certain if it will really die, though.

Could be the metaphorical walls of this universe crash into the brane of another universe, setting off another big bang.

And we'll be in the best seats in the house to view it. Hell, that will probably be a ticket event. (Or whatever the post-scarcity equivalent is.)
