  1. Assumptions like this irritate me. Maud's "symptoms" are incredibly vague and could be attributed to a large number of psychological disorders, if one were to be the cause. She could be showing symptoms of depression for all we know. But, and let's face it, the brony fandom has a very large autistic/asperger portion, and so are undoubtedly biased in labelling character with what they themselves understand. This is by no means an attack on autism/asperger's. I personally do not care if someone is autistic in the same way that I do not care of someone's sexuality or whathaveyou. However, I feel that many people want a character to relate to, a character they can say "hey, (s)he's just like me!" And thus end up projecting their situations onto characters where there is no evidence. Character is quiet and introverted? Must be asperger's! Character has short attention span? You got ADHD, buddy! Character likes neatness? OCD, here we come! While these are traits of said disorders, they are by no means exclusive. A quiet, smart person does not equal asperger's. As someone said above, Maud was quite aware of her social situation and standing within the mane 6. She simply said nothing to avoid upsetting Pinkie. Social awareness is key in diagnosing Asperger's. After all, it is on the same spectrum as Autism and the 'aut' in that comes from auto; pertaining to themselves, hence why the whole spectrum is universally defined as having lacking social skills/awareness. This is unrelated to intelligence, before anyone accuses me of calling those with Asperger's stupid, which is not the case. I suppose it can be an interesting fanon, but it is certainly not serious within the show. If it were, it would be front and centre, as her syndrome would have been the whole reason she wasn't bonding well the with the mane 5. Think Flight to the Finish.
  2. It's that time again Don't click if you don't want an absolute butt-ton of the cutest pony ever
  3. I wish I knew. I'm speculating that RD would not be nearly as popular if not for her rainbow design. Many people say she is popular because she is the tomboy of the group, but Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie are incredibly popular as well. Fluttershy is perhaps even more popular than RD, yet pretty much as girly and feminine as Rarity. Similarly, AJ is rather tomboyish as well, yet lingers at the bottom of popularity polls. The tomboy argument holds little water with me. Rarity is disliked largely because she strikes too close to home as the snooty-popular-girl archetype. Obviously she's anything but, but if someone's first impression is a negative one then they are unlikely to delve deeper into her character and see what a fantastic character she really is. It's funny how Rarity's vanity is "omg so annoying", while RD's arrogance is "a character-building flaw!". Double standards, anyone?

I liked it when they were green over the summer as well x3

  5. I bet they look nicer, though Light brown can look beautiful ^^
  6. Ooh, thank you lots! I always appreciate nice words ^^ Especially my first time posting selfies, always a nervous time! Some people have striking, beautiful eyes and mine can end up looking almost soulless Curse brown eyes! @ Because I never know what reaction it'll get, so who knows, I could end up regretting it! And thanks, I like brown eyes too, although perhaps a bit of a lighter brown ^^
  7. Will I regret this? Probably I have VERY dark brown eyes and in some (re:most) photos, they end up looking black...
  8. I can't be the only one who shed a tear at the Nightmare Moon/Celestia battle and consequent banishment, surely I absolutely adored this premier. Especially the second part.
  9. This already happened in the comics and it was magnificent. The fandom has made evil Pinkie/Flutters too obvious and overdone to be entertaining, and I just can't see it being done well with Rainbow or AJ. That leaves Twilight or Rarity. As the Nightmare Rarity arc shows, her seldom-seen insecurities make her an interesting baddie without being too obvious. However Twilight has the whole alicorn-level magical potential and brief interactions with dark magic, which is a great set up already. I vote for Twilight. Dunno whether or not I'd enjoy it, though. It'd certainly be nice for a more mature theme, but personally I think that's best left for the comics and leave the light hearted entertainment for the show.
  10. Personally I think the best example is from Green Isn't Your Colour. This episode shows how Rarity's generosity transcends not just things (giving away clothes, dresses, that stuff), but shows how unselfish she really is. She spends the whole episode battling her jealousy in order to place what she considered her friend's best interest at heart. The fact that Fluttershy's best interest isn't modelling at all is irrelevant; Rarity had no idea about Fluttershy's discomfort and thought Flutters was honestly enjoying it. And Rarity even got to the point where she was demonising her own feelings (iirc, she moaned how terrible it was of her to feel jealous) to try find happiness in her friend's happiness. Especially the scene where Twilight tries to sabotage Fluttershy's modelling career. There, faced with a room full of upper class ponies who could have easily burned down Rarity's reputation alongside the failing fashion show, Rarity applauded Fluttershy nonetheless. She chose to save Fluttershy from embarrassment and save her possible future over her own reputation, the one thing we are constantly shown to be the most important thing to her. Rarity fits her element to a T. It's just harder to see behind the almost ham-fisted obviousness of Fluttershy's Kindness or Pinkie's Laughter. People see Pinkie being laughter incarnate, and because Rarity is much more subtle (clearly her style), they think she doesn't live up to her element.
  11. I actually have tons of Pony stuff, I just don't have the patience to get a group shot ^^; I've created a site for my collections to view them more easily here. But for now I'll attach some pics of my blind bags ^^ The empty squares are where I plan to get the rest...
  12. I strongly recommend the blind bags. Being small, they're easy to display, low maintenance and don't take up too much room so they don't cause clutter. They're also among the cheapest, yet highly detailed, merch. They also come with high resale value, so if you ever need to weed out a collection, just sell them off A good way to keep it under control is to collect only certain ponies. For instance, I collect only characters who actually appear in the show, thus ruling out a lot of the HasbrOC ponies. But find whatever works for you ^^ Maybe only pick your favourite ponies?
  13. It's heavily implied that Pinkie is friends with everyone, there was even a whole episode dedicated to her trying and successfully befriending Cranky. Not to mention Fluttershy and Discord, and the fact that Rainbow was close friends with Gilda and continued to be during the episode, only stopping once she saw Gilda be cruel. I don't think they're forbidden nor unable at all, as surely that would go against the whole point of the show. "Friendship is magic, but only if you befriend 5 people, no more, no less!"
  14. Fluttershy: Despite Rarity being my favourite, Flutters is the one I relate to the most. I can be shy and quiet at times, but really it's her interests I relate to. I volunteer at the RSPCA and help sick animals, and I love looking after animals (and plants) more than anything else. I'm also quite passive and can be easily pushed into things like her. Rarity: Just like Rarity, I can be a huge drama queen (usually played up for effect though) and am quite concerned with manners and being treated/treating others with respect and class. In fact, sophistication is something I valu highly in others. I also fuss over my appearance a lot and while I don't care for fashion, I do enjoy wearing nice clothes. Twilight: I love to learn and often worry myself to death over little things (and over think things) but aside from that, not too much in common. Pinkie: We share the same optimistic outlook and desire to make people happy, but I can't say I relate to her random sense of humour at all. I don't like random so much Rainbow: Loyalty is the element I value and uphold the most, but there's nothing else I can really relate to her with. Applejack: My second favourite pony, yet the least relatable! I'm not a hard physical worker, I don't place any special value on family (no more than friends, etc anyway) and while I try to be as honest as possible, it doesn't always work. I wish I was more like her though!
  15. I don't care much for Scootaloo, she's too much like Rainbow Dash V.2. I wish she had a little more of her own personality. Apple Bloom is adorable but I think her relationship with AJ is a little boring. The get along a little too well if you ask me. Having a little sister myself, I know it's not as easy maintaining a good relationship as AJ/AB make it seem. So of course, I think Sweetie Belle is best! She's the most adorable, and I love the way her voice squeaks. I also find her relationship with Rarity the most relatable, especially in Sisterhooves Social. In reality, siblings do annoy each other, argue and ultimately regret it. I don't know anyone who hasn't had a sour moment at least once with their sibling. So being able to appreciate Rarity and Sweetie's relationship more certainly puts her at the top of the list.
  16. I don't really want to marry a pony so I'll just use humanised versions instead. I would like to marry Rarity! But if same-sex marriage isn't allowed in Equestria, then I'll marry Fancypants instead. ...I like the classy ones
  17. Considering I take a Rarity bag (with matching phone charm & phone sock!) to uni, I guess you could say I'm pretty open I also have a shelf in my room dedicated to pony blind bags and the customs I make from them. My parents and I once had a discussion about the show too, after they read an article on a news site. My best friend is also a big fan, and lucky for me I have a long history of being crazy over cartoons with my other friends, so they more or less dismiss it as another one of my fandoms. I have no problem being open about it at all! Basically, if I'm asked about it I won't deny my interest in the show, and I'll buy merchandise for it much like I do for my other fandoms. However I won't bring it up if isn't needed nor hijack a conversation into the direction of ponies.
  18. #3 Fluttershy insulting Rarity & Pinkie Pie Fluttershy essentially told them doing what they wanted to do most (throw parties and be into fashion) was a waste of time. Rarity and Pinkie can't help what they like! I suppose it hits a little too close to home, since many people tell me I'm wasting my time watching this show, despite the fact that I can't help that I adore it. #2 Pinkie Pie in Part of One Pinkie's face right after her mane deflates is heartbreaking. She cares so much about her friends. making them happy and having fun with them, that the idea of losing them/annoying them to the point of leaving means she loses everything (including her mind). #1 Rarity, after seeing Sweetie Belle's drawing Although her dramatic reaction is played a little more for laughs, I don't think anyone can deny the regret and upset Rarity feels over "losing" her younger sister. Rarity discovering the picture, the picture itself, and her subsequent reaction is the only scene from MLP that managed to bring a tear to my eye.
  19. I don't think you can really say that RD/AJ aren't lesbians. Neither have had their orientation confirmed within the show, so they could just as easily be lesbians as they could be straight. Most people don't take shipping very seriously though, it's just something fun to do. I do agree with number 6 & 9 though. I never liked the idea of Pinkie having this crazy scary side, nor do I think it makes sense at all. However if some people want to interpret it that way, then whatever floats their boat. Likewise with Rarity, if some people just interpret her character to be bratty then that's their own formed opinion, even if I don't agree with it. Besides though, since Season 2 Rarity has a lot more love! That aside, welcome to the forums, I'm sure it'll be great seeing you around! I'm still kinda new here myself, though~
  20. Season 1 1. Rarity 2. Rainbow Dash 3. Pinkie Pie 4. Fluttershy 5. Applejack 6. Twilight Sparkle Season 2/Now 1. Rarity 2. Pinkie Pie 3. Rainbow Dash 4. Twilight Sparkle 5. Fluttershy 6. Applejack The first three didn't change much; Rarity has always been the absolute best. Rainbow and Pinkie switched places because I couldn't resist Pinkie's sweet nature any longer! Twilight jumped quite a bit. I used to think she was boring, but... she just grew on me for being adorkable. Fluttershy and Applejack got bumped down for having little to no character development. Also the repetitiveness of Fluttershy's episodes began to get boring. Want more love for Applejack though Never cared much for any of the CMC, though Sweetie Belle is my favourite.
  21. Not in the slightest! Even if a pony is the only thing I'm buying, I'll just put it on the counter like I would with anything else. No one bats an eye. Of course, self-checkout and online shopping are a nice alternative! Then again, I'm an animation buff and have a history of buying cartoon-related things. I still visit the Disney Store frequently! Everyone just accepts it now, and any sense of embarrassment left me long ago Also I'm sure being female gets me off any suspicious looks, since I'm "allowed" to be into this sorta stuff.
  22. 1. Rarity 2. Photo Finish 3. Flim/Flam (Discord is usually in #3, but it said ponies) 4. Fancypants 5. Cheerilee Though Shining Armor is a close call, too.
  23. I very much doubt it's a phobia. She was perfectly able to get dirty when trying to rekindle her relationship with Sweetie Belle, among other things. At the end of Sister Hooves Social, she's even laughing with Sweetie while getting muddy in the rain. A person with a phobia to dirt would avoid it at all costs and certainly not be laughing when subjected to it. Phobia isn't just another word for "fear". I that she just dislikes dirt because of her neat-freak, clean nature and dirt is just a sign of imperfection to her. That and, as many before me pointed out, when white gets dirty it looks more obvious than on any other colour. I suppose she could be slightly fearful of it, but I've never seen her act terrified at dirt, more repulsed/uncomfortable.
