Have you ever been pulled over by a cop!?

So was wondering if anyone here has ever been pulled over by a cop before or have gotten a ticket in any manner while driving?

I have not somehow being very lucky in the past 5 years of me driving. Hope I did not just jinx myself o.O!

I've gotten pulled off several times since I first started driving.  It's pretty much always been speeding.  When a cop pulls you over, the best thing to do is to remain cool and calm.  Just reacting like a normal person and not getting scared or nervous at the whole thing seems to help some.

I was on my bike, and I was going to Walmart at 5 AM to get some stuff, and I got pulled over because I didn't have any headlights (I thought reflectors were good enough), and the cop thought I was drunk for some reason. I didn't get a ticket or anything, but he just told me to either ride in the daytime or with headlights......so yeah....nothing special xD

Nope. I try not to drive too much like a maniac; maybe that helps a little.

The only time I ever knowingly go more than five over the speed limit is when I'm catching a yellow light, or trying to pass someone on the highway and trying to minimize my time in the leftmost lane. I intentionally go five over as a cruising speed, because I know that my speedometer is a little on the optimistic side.

I got a couple of tickets. Fun tickets that I will not discuss because breaking the law is wrong. <_< >_> <_<

My first was doing 65 in a 55, and I got off with a waste of fossil fuels citation. Cheaper than a real ticket.

I got pulled over a lot, only once was for speeding that was the only one I deserved, the ticket got dropped though. All the other times where " your car fit the description of a car seeing fleeing the scene of a domestic dispute" after like the 5th time I told the cop "you need to find this guy that keeps getting into these so I stop getting pulled over for him". A little background Chektowaga cops use that excuse to pull you over all the time

No, but a distant memory I have as a kid is my father being pulled over, and I told my dad "I want to be a cop so I can eat donuts!" and he cracked up, and told me to tell that to the cop. Can't remember if I did or not, sadly.

Yep lol 4 times as a matter of fact

1: Illegal left turn and near accident - warning

2: Speeding 82 mph (132 km/h) in a 70 mph (113 km/h) speed zone - warning

3: Speeding (again) 87 mph (140 km/h) in a 65 mph (105 km/h) zone - warning (which was amazing because I definitely should have got a ticket)

4: Funky business. Basically I saw a cop pulled over on the side of the road. I'd driven on the interstate a lot so I moved over to the left lane. This was a two lane highway coming up to an intersection with another highway. This was out in my hometown in Pretty-Much-Nowhere, Oklahoma so there would need to be 4 cars on the road to consider it busy. I moved to the left lane just to give him some room. He pulled me over thinking I might have been a drunk driver? So yah...I explained to him what I was doing. Warning.

Pulled over that many times and all warnings. I think my time to get a ticket may be coming up soon...Of course I'm nowhere near as fast as I was when I was 18 or 19. Many unsanctioned daredevil stunts were performed in my car. It's amazing it still lives. I think the fastest I've ever had that thing running is about 140 mph (225 km/h). Which is about the most badass thing I've done. And my car is pretty much held together by duct tape.

So yeah, because I think I used up all my good karma, I don't drive like I used to. Though I still get pretty hostile behind the wheel. I pay attention to what I'm doing but I get maaaaaaad sometimes. People here are idiots sometimes....

Nope, but if we're talking about being pulled over by the police, I'll share this story.

My father once got pulled by the police because they mistook him as a criminal they're looking for. He thankfully isn't, but given by how they look similar and rode motorbikes, it really turned into a rather awkward situation.

When I was in New York City, I once saw a yellow cab pull somebody over.  It was bizarre.

I also got pulled over by a marine once.  It was late at night, very dark, possibly a new moon.  I was lost and so I pulled to the side of the road to look at the map, which happens to be next to the fencing for a naval station that runs along side this road and then I look behind me and there's an MP back there.  I explained to him that I was a little lost and he gave me a little escort to help me find my way back to the major route.

Eeyahhh...

I got 2 tickets, both when I was 17.  Lmao.

1. I was driving with my friend, radio blaring, not paying attention to the speedzone OR my own speed.  I though I was in a 30 zone, and figured maybe I was going 35-ish.  Well, I was wrong.  It was a 20 zone, and I was going 42.  LOL.  *Cherries and Berries*... I pulled over, turned off the radio, and turned pale white.  I knew I deserved a ticket.  And I wasn't afraid of the cop, but I was afraid of having to tell my parents.  Before the cop even came up to my window I was crying silently,  ... He came up, [blabla], I got a ticket for 22 over the limit.  Yay.

A while later I paid my ticket at the court house, then a few weeks after that I got my license back in the mail (because they take your license and you drive with the ticket as your license for the time being after you get the ticket).

2. I was coming home from playing in the band at my high school for a basketball game (I played trumpet).  My high school is literally 0.8 (yes, eight-tenths) of a mile from my house.  I was coming down the straight side-street... it was dark because it was night... and there were no other cars on the road at all.  Just me.  So, I was tired, and since there was nobody else on the road, I wasn't paying attention to my speed.  Well, it's a 30 zone, and again I was going 42, lol.  Then as I get up close to the stop sign (in which, all I have to do there is turn right, and my house is the second house on the left), I see headlights turn on.  It's a cop.  He then starts moving, passes by me, does a U-y (u-turn), and then *Cherries and Berries*.

Sh--.  Right in front of MY OWN HOUSE, I get pulled over.  Awesome.

So, cop comes up to my window.  [blabla].  THEN... My freakin' DAD comes out of the house, walks up to the cop... and the first thing out of his mouth, in a less than polite manner, is: "What the hell is going on here?!"

:yay:

*Sigh*

Moments later, a second cop pulls behind the first cop car.

But here's the thing --- I think that second cop, which was a county cop, is the one that clocked me (the one that pulled me over was a city cop).  Because I looked down at my speedo halfway down that side street, and slowed down to 30 before the city cop should have been able to clock me.

Anyway, of course I wound up getting a ticket.  So, same deal as I had with the first one; pay at the court house some time later, then get my license back in the mail, again.

Lol.

---

The one other time I got stopped by a cop is a very funny story... one that is probably unique to being a country boy.

I was 18.  Coming home one night from my last Motorcycle Safety Course class (which I took before I got my motorcycle license).  Rather than just going home, I decided to go down a back road, which was a dirt-road, and... star-gaze.  Yes, seriously.  It was out in the county where there wasn't any light pollution from anything, and the sky was clear.  So, I went half-way down the road, got out of my truck, and looked at the stars for maybe 5 minutes.  I get back in my truck, and as soon as I put it in drive, I see a car coming down the other lane.  Then, as I get a little closer, it moves to the middle of the road and stops.  Uh-oh.  *Cherries and Berries* ... I laughed.  Because I knew I did nothing wrong.

It's an unmarked county car.  Cop comes up to my window, asks me what I'm doing, and I tell him.  Well of course "star-gazing" sounds like an excuse.  So, cue the normal license and registration; then he gave them back.  Asked more questions.  He thought maybe I was doing drugs or something, so asked to look in my truck.

Now, while some of you might be against searches, I'm not at all against them because I've got nothing to hide.

I said "Sure, I ain't hidin' nothin'."  And all he even did is shine his flashlight into my truck - didn't even open my doors.

Then he realized who I was, or well... sort of...

Cop: "Ohhh, you're [name] and [name]'s son?"
Me: "Yessir."

He kinda made a half-chuckle and said: "The reason I pulled you over was because someone in that house over there saw a vehicle on the road they thought looked suspicious.  But, you aren't doing nothing wrong."

Me (totally honest tone, no sarcasm [i promise]): "Oh is this a private drive?"

Cop: "Nahh, it's public.  Just know that if you stop on a dirt road at night it might look suspicious."
Me: "Haha, alright, thanks officer."
Cop: "Mhm, have a good night."

---

All in all, I think most cops are okay.  You can't blame them if you get a ticket for doing something wrong, like speeding.  I deserved my tickets, and learned my lesson: don't speed in town - speed on the highways.  Lmao, jk... kinda... hahaha.

^_^

I was walking home one day, when I saw that I could potentially take a shortcut through a bunch of trees which would probably have saved me 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately, as I approached it, I saw that it was fenced off and I couldn't go over it. So, I just walked around it, hoping to find a break somewhere. In doing so, I ended up in a parking lot, which ended up being the back lot of a police station. Just as I realized where I was, an officer rolled up and started interrogating me about what I was doing there. I tried to explain to him that I was just trying to get home and ended up there by mistake, but he didn't seem to buy it. Ultimately, he let me off with a warning and told me he wouldn't be as nice if he ever saw me there again. Guess where I never went again.

I got pulled over by a county cop for speeding. I gave her insurance and all. my Insurance papers had my uncles card attached, hes a State Trooper and Leader of the bomb squad in my state. She (the county) tore off the card, dropped it on the ground and said "This won't help you."

Later I called my uncle, and he told me to just go to court and fight the ticket, the county wont be there anyway. I later learned the county cop got chewed out for disrespecting a fellow offciers family

well ive been stopped by a cop that though i was ditching school. me and my friend were walking back from school and the cop stopped us and we even got in the back seat.

when we told them that we were able to get out of school earlier than everyone else because we were in some program called credit recovery the cops called the school to double check that and the lady that picked up was dumb so she said no none of our kids are supposed to be out of school. the cops then told us to get in the backseat which was sooo dumb, but the cops called the credit recovery extension and they set them straight. nothing happened we were able to continue walking home xD. kind of a funny experience tbh.

Twice. The first time I was coming out of the carpark at work (I get off at 23:00) and my automatic headlights didn't turn on and there was a state trooper waiting at the traffic light (go figure), so I got a warning. I swear the cop thought I was drunk. She threw the light in my face rather quickly. Plus,it doesn't help that the store I work at is next to a resturant/bar.

The second time, it was the end of the month and I was late for work and was going 65 in a 55...Another warning. This cop was really chill with me though, probably because I was honest and was like, "yup. I was speeding. I'm late. My bad." And I knew he would come for me too, because he passed me going the opposite way and then I saw him turn around in my mirror and was like, "Oh, fuck."

I don't drive... I can try to get my licence but.... in time.....

and I have actually never gotten in trouble by any law enforcement

the presents of Police and Deputy Sheriff in my town are pretty high I see at least 2 Police Officers and 4 Deputy Sheriff driving around the place daily... yet I rarely see them pull over people, which probably explains the countless times of me nearly getting hit by a car

I've never gotten a ticket, and I've technically never been pulled over, but I had a close call a few years ago.  My friends and I were on our way back home from some hiking in New York, and my friend was driving his car, while I was driving mine with his brother as a passenger.  I didn't know the way back, so I had to follow him on his way back.  It was a 25 MPH zone, and I normally go the speed limit (much to my friends' annoyance), but he was going around 40.  Since he was my only way home, I had to match his speed to keep up.

We passed on a cop on the side of the road, who gets into the road and turns on his lights.  But he drives past me and pulls over my friend (I later found out that it was because he saw him first).  My friend pulls over, and I pull over about 100 feet away to wait for him.  After the cop is done with my friend, he walks over to the side of my car, so I roll down the window, and he says, "I asked your friend whether I should give you a ticket, too, and he said no."  He then gives us a stern warning, and we're back on our way.

The best part of this?  My friend still travels the same speed when going through that same section of town.  That's why I have a road map under my seat, now.

I've never been pulled over, but I have had a cop pull a gun on me once as they mistook me for a criminal fugitive that had hid in the nearby area.

They sincerely appologized afterwards tho, so I don't hold a grudge.  -_-
