You can stop your pulse (in your wrist) by placing an object such as a bottle or a tennis ball under you arm and pushing your arm against it. But it's not a great idea to do that for more than a few seconds. This works because there is an artery near the underside of your arm, and the object you are pressing your own against prevents blood from flowing through that artery. I feel like I've posted this one somewhere before, anyway...

 

The name of the English horn, as one may guess, is misleading in the same way as the name of the French horn. It is not English, and its name much more interestingly (IMO) takes root from a corruption of "Angel's Horn".

 

IIRC, 'Anglo' (Anglo Land = England) also means 'Angel', so it makes sense in some very kind of odd way... Except it still doesn't. Lol.
