I normally don't watch the teaser clip prior to an episode airing, but I couldn't help myself this week when I saw Starlight in the thumbnail! She's been 1 of my favorite new additions to season 6. I loved her appearances in The Crystalling, No Second Prances, A Hearth's Warming Tale, and The Times They Are A Changeling. Kelly Sheridan really delivers in the voice department. Glim's is 1 of the most expressive characters in the show. I just love her voice !

 

The clip was very intriguing. I love that the show is adding incantations to more powerful spells now! I wonder why she has to "brain-wash" the mane 5? All my questions will be answered in a few days I guess. Saturday can't come any sooner !

 

It appears that an overwhelming majority of users above me loathe Starlight or downright want her away from the spotlight as much as possible. I guess i'm in the very tiny minority because I enjoy all aspects of her character. I wonder if there are others who share the same opinion as me? I'm probably blinded by my optimistic outlook though so who knows at this point .  

 

I agree with your view of Starlight. Honestly, I think the main reason a bunch of fans don't like her is because the writers didn't smoothly transition her into the season. I personally feel like the writers kind of pushed her off to the side. I want more of her, so I believe this will be a very fun episode. One thing I know for a fact is that the mane 5 plue Twilight are going to be pissed when they fall out of her trance to discover they had been mind controlled by Starlight. I wonder where Spike will be in all of this. Maybe out with Twilight?

I would perfectly fine with this happening if and only if it leads to Twilight disowning her as her student, rejecting her apologies and that leading to the finale.

I would actually dislike that, as it would exist SOLELY to set starlight up as being even more shilled in the finale when she saves the day despite everyone hating her, as her being disowned would only be there to try and play up "look how benevolent she is, saving all those people who were mean to her!"

Besides, why would Twilight disown her as her student? She's done mind control before (Want It, Need It spell anypony?), In Lesson Zero, when she was still Celestia's student; and clearly, despite all the chaos Twilight caused, Celestia forgave her; and clearly, Twilight has been shown to adore Celestia, so why wouldn't she want to be like her and forgive Starlight?

After seeing the preview, this episode looks interesting. It's great we get to see Starlight interacting with the other mane 5. The spell she used is interesting and it reminds me of the Want it Need it spell from Lesson Zero. I was also laughing when she was getting the mane 5 to listen to her. It reminded me of when used the royal Canterlot voice. I also wonder if Starlight found this spell in the castle, or she learned it years ago after Sunburst left for Canterlot. I also wonder if it will be just the mane 5 who will be controlled, or if there will be other ponies in Ponyville controlled by this spell. All in all this preview looks really cool and I'm looking forward to the new episode.

Wait for context guys, maybe they've been put under a spell by someone else, maybe they've asked her to do this or given her permission to do it, maybe this is a dream, maybe it's an alternate/fake world created for her. I'm sure she has good intentions because of how her character has been developing.

I just saw it, Starlight was just nervous, the spell was an accident, and in a way it sorta reminds me of MLP episode Lesson Zero, but lucky for Starlight, she was forgiven because they know she's struggling.

 

It seems to be a prequel to the Thorax episode.

 

Also I think the reason why Starlight was nervous about Cake baking because of what happened at SugarCube Corner.

 

The episode was better than I thought. It just shows that Starlight is nervous but lucky like she said, She has understanding friends.

I know everyone's really sore and...such...about this episode, but I'm that rare person that comes along and says this...

 

 

FAVORITE EPISODE OF THE SEASON!

 

I loved that Starlight finally seemed to have learned this lesson once and for all, and it actually appealed to my emotions by selecting one of my favorite characters, reverting her back to her bad ways (veeeery slightly) and then teaching her in the end. It was funny, clever, silly, and just a boatload of fun! Honestly, I feel like she really learned the lesson this time, and she was nervous about it from the very beginning and showed more hesitance about using spells than she would have originally, which would was none at all (originally). Now I'm hoping we won't see anymore mind-controlling Starlight, and the thought that she's getting along with the others as best as she can without using her old ways is amazing! I loved this! And I'm sure somebody is gonna try and say something about why the writers did wrong and this was terrible to me and just try to body my opinion.

 

 

But remember the key words before you try and tear me down...

Great episode! As soon as I saw the opening, I know it was gonna be enjoyable. Boy, does Starlight get better every episode.

 

Also, I think she'll put up quite a competition against Sonic The Hedgehog after she handled all those books at lightning speed.
