Mesme Rize 15,664 February 7, 2017 Share February 7, 2017 As a music fan and someone who is not really that into dubstep, i really was wondering if Dubstep fans have some sort of emotional connection when they listen to certain dubstep tunes. I can listen to many tracks spanning many genres that get an emotional response out of me, but with all due respect, dubstep seems a bit empty for me to be honest. Maybe somebody here can teach me. Sweet Pen 1,348 February 7, 2017 Share February 7, 2017 Well, it depends a lot of the music you're listening to, and there's artists of this style that changes a lot from music to music. Dubstep it's a genre with a huge bass on the back, yes, but there's your subgenres, like Chillstep. When I listen to this kind of music, I can feel somewhat inspired on my imagination, with some fights going on, OR I can feel myself quiet and just seeing what life can brings of good to me. GeekySonic 1,148 February 7, 2017 Share February 7, 2017 That depends on the type, for me. Most dubstep is just something I use while cooking or working to pass the time. Dubstep that really gets me in the feeler is Arctic dubstep. It's just really soothing for me.
Violet_S 783 February 7, 2017 Share February 7, 2017 It really depends on the type of music but normally whenever I listen to dubstep I imagine weird things and I think my brain goes crazy XD ...dubstep is my 'music-drug' and I love it! Flutterstep 37,800 February 7, 2017 Share February 7, 2017 (edited) Dubstep has so many styles and sub genres that anyone who loves music should feel emotion when listening to at least one song. Also, half the songs out there that consider themselves dubstep are actually other genres like house, drumstep, future garage and so on. Traditionally, dubstep was a fusion genre of dub and 2-step garage, hence the name. Listen to these songs and see what you think. Of course everyone has their tastes so it's understandable if you don't like these either: Skream - Dutch Flowerz [2006] https://youtu.be/yBv4kWsi4TE Kill The Noise & Datsik - Lightspeed (Plastician Remix) [2012] https://youtu.be/E9QASt8aCJg I personally feel like I'm at peace when listening to these. I usually listen to such high energy track that these really give me time to reflext on other emotions - mainly good ones though Edited February 7, 2017 by Flutterstep
 KatonRyu 1,004 February 10, 2017 Share February 10, 2017 While I might not be the right person to answer this considering I don't like most dubstep, I do like melodic dubstep from time to time. Since that has a very clearly defined melody to it (you don't say) it's easy to get some emotional response out of me with it, usually an uplifting one. This song is the reason I decided to give dubstep a chance, although the first one I actually liked for the most part (excluding the dubsteppiest bit) was the next one:
 Lady Kiriness 7,198 February 10, 2017 Share February 10, 2017 The gnarlier the drops, the better. Usually, I feel pretty amped when I listen to dubstep. It also increases my focus and creativity when doing artwork. ^^ This is an example of the kind that I like: If dubstep doesn't strike your fancy, then you shouldn't try to push yourself. Like what you like.
 Badges
The_Gobo 36,257 February 11, 2017 Share February 11, 2017 Depends on the song, really.I only have two dub' songs I listen to on the regular, 'Doomsday' from the Borderlands 2 trailer, though the full version, and the Mad Moxxi's Underdome theme. The first tends to put me in a peppy upbeat mood, whereas the second tends to make me feel like beating the ever-loving crap out of things. I say 'things' specifically, because I'm a massive pacifist :V
 Badges
gamecubeguy214 2,508 February 12, 2017 Share February 12, 2017 As much as I love relaxing pony music, dubstep is pretty nice too, and I've started to listen to it more often. It feels good to listen to, and the drop is very satisfying. Sometimes though, dubstep can feel really edgy and cringy as well, often when glitchy vocals are involved. Vinyl Scratch. 493 February 17, 2017 Share February 17, 2017 I guess it varies for me from track to track. I think that dubstep is definitely not a genre known for it's deep or emotional songs, and I feel that a lot of dubstep is created usually only to sound big at festivals or just to overall sound aggressive and overall badass, kinda like the heavy metal of electronic music (though hardcore techno kinda takes that medal). So I guess there's really 2 kinds of emotional responses I get from dubstep. Most commonly it's a feeling of general badassery (if that makes any sense) where I basically feel super amped and stop caring about reality. E.g when I listen to tracks like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDadOqXhSu4 And the other is kind of deeper where I more or less kinda feel the song on a deeper level as if there's kind of a deeper idea behind the trackk (I'm planning on making a blog post ranting about this at some point so keep tuned for that) when listening to tracks like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwsXo6fsmso I'm kinda super obsessed when it comes to electronic music, if theres something to know about all things electronic I'm probably your guy
Prospekt 10,867 February 17, 2017 Share February 17, 2017 (edited) This picture represents my "emotional response" pretty accurately... oct mad.png  I can't stand most dubstep. It tends to give me a headache, especially when people are totally blasting it from their speakers. ProbablyNotLyra 94 February 17, 2017 Share February 17, 2017 (edited) Apparently lots of people have a ton of different thoughts about dubstep.. Let me just share my own. When I first started listening to it, it honestly sounded terrible, but I tried listening to the individual beats and tunes, and it surprised me how complicated and intricate dubstep can be. A good dubstep song is not just pounding bass, it's so much more than that. It's a mix of everything else, all helping to support and boost the bass that makes dubstep to amazing, especially when you find that one song that makes you bob your head just right to the beat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZB-vKCL2YU&list=PLkkDJ9l9qdLlD8jgDbYXg80do08srsWTb&index=59 Edited February 17, 2017 by ProbablyNotLyra
