In the summer of '09, I went to see the Methuselah Tree  I spent a few hours in the mountains of California, hiking at around 10,000 feet elevation, to see it.

I've been using Methuselah as a username since 2003.

I was on another mountain in 2016 at Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. I was at Alpine Visitor Center which, iirc, is reached by the highest road in the US. From there was a big set of stairs going to the top of the mountain. So I walked up and was standing there at 12,005 feet wearing a T-shirt and my work shoes (non-slip kitchen shoes). It was sooo cold and windy. Some guy at the top actually offered to give me a jacket (I said no thanks). There were thick ice patches below the visitor center, even though it was August.
