gaming What is the scariest video game enemy you faced?

....its only $20 and having a weapon ruins the point of the horror. I mean, have you ever read H.P.Lovecraft? the idea that you are powerless to fight back against such evil is horrifying.

No Credit/Bank card and I don't like downloading illegally. And there are plenty of horror games that have weapons. Silent Hill, Resident Evil, House of the Dead, Ghoul 3, Heck even Minecraft when your playing in survivor on hardcore and an unexpected Creeper comes up behind you.

Oh my god I remember that thing! Memories long repressed have been brought back to the forefront... I don't know if I can sleep tonight now... :(

Ya he's pretty spooky :(

Well I have two in particular. First one being well, a bit obvious. First time playing Resident evil 4... Oh my, that sound. That movement. DEM SPIKES! You never seem to have enough ammo when they pop up

The second being more of a personal note. The enemy not itself, but just the scenario. From one of my favorite RPG's, it's a boss with different boss music (first time it changes to the "bad ass" boss music) and he wrecked my shit everytime until I got better at those kind of games.

While I haven't played any scary videogames(I play games like Need for Speed and Call of Duty) Skyrim is the only game I've played that has anything somewhat scary. In the underground dungeons and ruins, when I'm playing in 1st person mode you never know if something is following you or something is going to pop out from behind the corner so it really freaks me out when the Draugr Overlords do a backstab on me and make this scary roar and the scary music starts playing and I turn around to see this:

The fast zombies from Half-Life 2 used to freak me out:

Used to? They still freak the shit out of me.

You hear their cry and instantly go "oh fuck oh fuck where are they what direction shit shit shit where's a corner I can get my back to fuck fuck..." and then you're running to find some cover so they can't get behind you, when you hear it.

The snarling. The horrible, raspy, snarling. Getting closer and closer. And you turn around and see, in the dim light of Ravenholm, this thing running towards you. It's like man, but not. It has no flesh, just flayed muscle and bone. And it doesn't run. It has an erratic gallop. It is unnatural, it shouldn't exist.

But it does. And it wants to kill you.

You can't run from it, it moves too fast. It jumps, it climbs, it follows you everywhere until you die or it does. You can't hide from it, it's too smart. It will find a way to reach you. It will take the long way around if it has to, and just when you think you're safe, it catches up to you.

When it finds you, it leaps with a horrible shriek. Then it flails it's claws, diggin into your flesh, all the while making that horrible snarl. It fills your ears, you can't hear anything but the snarling. Its strikes knock you around, stopping you from aiming correctly and knocking anything you were carrying out of your hand.

But the worst part.

It's not alone. It never is.

That is a fast zombie. That is terror.

Valve set out to make a creature that would scare. Something that you wouldn't expect to see in your worst nightmares. Something that messes with you on a subliminal level. And they succeeded.

I can't find a picture of it, I'll do a lazy scan some other time, but the scariest one for me...

I'm not a big gamer, not because I don't like games but because I have a very weak constitution. I got a PS2 in maybe 5th grade or whatever so I could play the Neopets game The Darkest Faerie. (freakin' love Neopets) I was doing just fine until I had to go into the Shadowglen Woods. The music freaked me out and it took me a few weeks to stop doing stupid side quests and go all the way in. Then I read this sign a little ways in that said "Don't walk on the grass." I ignored it and walked in the grass instead of on the path to get to a bridge or something when RIGHT THE BUCK OUT OF THE GROUND pops about a jillion grass monsters. They look something like possessed asparagus heads and piled into me. I was like *SPIN ATTACK SPIN ATTACK SPIN ATTACK SPIN ATTACK SPIN ATTACK* and then I died. I was so scared that I didn't play the game again until years later when my mom remarried, and I had my stepbrother complete that level for me. Sweet potatoes. No joke, that scarred me. -_-;

Well games don't really freak me out anymore, but when I first played left 4 dead the witches used the scare me. You’d hear them and be like "oh f**k turn the lights off!" and then you'd try to sneak past it but screw it up and then you'll just get torn to pieces.

My friend got me to play amnesia and that was creepy, but on a more atmospheric level, as opposed to making you jump 3 feet in the air, it just built up tension.

Also this is going to sound stupid, but....minecraft the freaking sounds! You hear a zombie sound when you're deep in an abandoned mine, carrying a load of diamonds, and then you round the corner and see loads of them, you manage to fight them off, but then, suddenly you hear hissing, you slowly turn around....just in time to see the creeper explode and kill you.

The zombie doods from Amnesia. You can't outrun them, they immediately find you when they bust open doors... so scary!

This. Probably the scariest moment in any game i ever played. (Yeah.. i'm such bunny..)

This sounds very stupid as this boss isn't scary to me (or probably any of you) anymore. I played the game when I was seven years old and this boss scared me more than any other enemy I've ever fought in a video game due to the "scary-looking to young kid" factor.

-"Ah, now my children. Eat and devour these savory dishes."

Black Doom when ordering his alien minions to eat a frozen group of Sonic and his friends (and Eggman).

But he was also awesome. Just his appearance was creepy.

I wanted too share some! The kusabi scared the crap out of me when I played fatal frame! You cannot defend yourself so you had to run, amnesia style away from it or die it one hit!

And pyramid head, one of my favorite video game enemies ever! He would stalk you around silent hill and you will even find yourself running from him!

Jeez when I was younger and played this on the N64, goodness they prevented me from beating that dungeon for months. I had some crazy fear of spiders and centipedes back then. Thankfully now I laugh at them and squish them with my bare hands! Bwahahaah!
