My resignation

Dear MLP Forumites.

 

As of today, I will no longer be a Global Moderator of these forums. The reasons behind this are perhaps complex, and I feel like I would be repeating myself if I just said it. So instead I will direct you to this topic.

 

The major reasons I left is because one, I no longer felt my moderating style meshed well with that of the rest of the team, and increasingly I found myself having to disagree with decisions yet needing to defend them regardless. Secondly, as much as I warned in the topic I mentioned, I have lost touch with the community and my own free time. I was not a member here, I was a moderator. It's a bad enough mindset to begin with.

 

So with that knowledge, I feel it is time for me to hang my mantle and leave the team. Taking my time to pursue other avenues in life. Thinking of other projects. and handling different things. I will continue to be a moderator on the Minecraft server and helping out in other extranet projects on the forums.

I resigned from a staff position on a forum of mine for some similar reasons. Some different, but some similar. Never really talked to you one-on-one, but still, all the time you did put, and will continue to put in the smaller projects, are greatly appreciated. Whatever it is you decide to do, wherever it is you end up, good luck with them, and hope to see you around sometime ^^

It saddens the heck out of me to see people go, but as a good friend reminded me, it's one of life's many unfortunate motifs. The circle of life affects online productivity. They come, and they go. It's very hard to accept, but I know that it'll eventually turn out well for all of us; I hope the very same happens to you in the coming ages.

 

Thy journey of being a moderator 'twas a notable and memorable one, may your name be engraved in the MLP Forums Wall of Fame for many ages to come.

This came as a surprise to me, i'm sad to see you go, Tich. Whatever you may think, your contribution to the forum was very valuable and still is. Although you may have left the team because of staff decision disagreement etc, you're still our friend, we won't hate/dislike you for your opinion, nor for your disagreement. In the end we all share the goal for a better forum/community for everyone, member, admin or moderator, do what makes you feel happy, that's what's most important after all. =)

 

I'm glad that you're still a part of our other projects, especially Minecraft, it's appreciated a lot. =)

Even though I talked about it with you on Steam, I still want to post in this thread about it. Also, this better have been playing as you resigned.

 

Good luck with the stuff you plan to do now that you've resigned. I understand the whole feeling of being a moderator disconnecting you from the community. When I was a moderator, I started feeling the same way. Then, life stuff, in combination of that, got to me and I had to resign. Seriously, people. The mods do a lot of work to keep the forums as nice as they are. But I won't steer the topic in that direction.

 

As a moderator, you did a lot for the community, and I'm sure almost everypony here respects you for that. I really do hope that you do indeed stick around here. I mean, I myself don't post that often anymore, but I still stick around, don't I? The forum wouldn't be complete without Tich and his rules. /)

Tich, I don't mean to sound cheesy but I really am honestly sad to see you resign.

 

During our rather brief time volunteering together on this site, I learned to value your thoughts on quite a few matters. Even though you are no longer on the moderation staff, I hope to continue to stay in touch. After all, we are still part of the same community regardless of whether we are members or staff.

I can appreciate the reasons you resigned. Not many people realize the kind of work it takes to keep a MB like this enforced and running. (Bad joke alert) I used to be a moderator like you, then I took a computer virus in the knee. But seriously, being a Mod is similar to being a leader of something. People look up to you, and a few other people make you a target. I moderated a small forum in the past, and some guy gave me the "system tools" virus.

 

It's a volunteering thing, yet you still get all the risks of an online work place job, with no pay. Besides the time you need committed to the site (obviously), sometimes it can drain your mental strength. Because of this, some people get a "Mod complex" where they abuse their power. This is the fastest way to destroy a forum, but fortunately, none the mods here have abused their power. So someone who's willing to give up their moderating mantle should be commemorated.

 

So major props to Tich for making this decision, and my utmost thanks goes to you for your service to the best community on the internet; the Bronies!!

Let me see if I have this right.

 

You're leaving because you don't like having to support staff decisions you don't agree with.

To me at least, this is a pretty big step towards confirming my fears that the mods here prop each other up because they're all mods and not necessarily because they agree.

It's nice to know there are dissenting opinions in the staff, not so nice to know one is resigning :/

@, I do want to debunk that there seems to be some sort of bias going on. I don't want to insinuate some soft of strict black and white division, because there is not, These are sometimes more trivial ways of wanting to approach things. They are disagreements nonetheless. Yes, I would run these forums somewhat differently, but among the staff it is not my place to make these decisions unilaterally, or impose my vision on others, if others see it differently then it is their right, I just find myself on another side.

 

I would say this is because the forum has grown and I still like to see it as a small town, and maybe that is why my idea of how to run this place may be out of it's place and time. Things change, and I have to live with it.

It's a real bummer to see you leaving the team, Tich. You were a good team member who handled things quite nicely, and an even better teacher to me. It's sad that you and the rest of the team didn't see eye to eye on things, but I suppose nonetheless it does get increasingly difficult handling those types of things as the community grows and expands. It was a real honour to have you as an MLP Forums moderator, I can say.

 

I hope you're successful with your other pursuits now that you no longer have to watch over the Forums with us, and I hope your view on the Forum stays positive in any case.

I'm sorry to see you resign, Tich. You were always active and vigilant in moderating this forum, and it can be difficult to find people who can replace that sense of dedication. It will certainly take some adjusting to see you out of the line-up.

I'm not as sad to see you resign. I honestly don't care that this is what you doing because, you are still here. Why should I be sad that you chose to have less power, while helping yourself out in the process. This is your desicision, I'm not a mod, so I don't see why I should be sad to see you not be a mod.
