mega thread Your Favorite Episode?

I've given 10/10 scores to only five episodes: "Bridle Gossip", "Party of One", "Lesson Zero", and the "Canterlot Wedding" episodes. Choosing just one of these is a chore! The problem is that I gave them these rankings on very different grounds (although they all share superb humor and well-done drama):

 

--"Bridle Gossip" for the inventiveness involving perhaps a rather overwrought plot and moral,

--"Party of One" for making us care so much about what might one might call a very superficial character in such a serious yet whimsical way,

--"Lesson Zero" for its deconstruction of the show's premise and the surprisingly sophisticated moral,

--The "Canterlot Wedding" episodes for its brief but superb development of Twilight's relationship with Shining Armor and Cadance and their temporary falling out, the delightful "This Day Aria", and for being a plain awesome feel-good escapist two-parter in general.

 

If I had to pick, however, I'd say "Lesson Zero" because Twilight's anxiety resonated with me and the "take that" to the show's merchandise-driven nature through Twilight's "she even comes with her own quill and notebook for when you want to pretend she's doing her homework!"  Utter classic.

Man thats a hard one to choose. Theres so many episodes i love and like, But my favorite episodes is the canterlot wedding part 1 and 2! As Rainbow Dash would say! Best Wedding Ever!! lol

A lot of fans may not agree with me, but I love Magical Mystery Cure. The song "I've Got to Find a Way" really touched me. I still choke up a little at the end, when Twilight says "Oh Spike, what have I done?" You really get the feeling that she's devastated by what she has unwittingly done to her friends, and would do anything to set things right. Then, she finally goes beyond learning spells, and creates one. Twilight fulfilled the promised destiny of her powerful magic on the day she hatched Spike and received her cutie Mark. Princess Celestia obviously hoped for and expected it to happen since that day. It was very touching when she joined Twilight in "Other Space", and sang so gently to her so Twilight would remain calm as her body transformed. I was literally thrilled by Twilight's ascension to princess-hood. I was on the edge of my seat.

It used to be "A Canterlot Wedding" before Season 3 came out, then everything changed when the fire nation attacked.

 

Overall though, I'd have to give it to the full Magical Mystery Cure, but what do I mean by that?

 

Well, I think Meghan McCarthy confirmed, while Season 4 just came out, that Princess Twilight Sparkle (parts 1 and 2) were actually parts 2 and 3 of Magical Mystery Cure, which I think is flipping awesome. Therefore, those 3 are my favorite episode! ^^

Not including season 4 yet my favorite episode is probably Magical Mystery Cure. I can't be entirely sure about my choice, but it's definitely one of my top 3, and it's the one that jumps out at me the most.

 

So why do I like this episode so much? Overall, it was just so extremely enjoyable and emotional to watch. It tied together all of the seemingly separate and individual episodes in the past 3 seasons and gave them a purpose, and made the entire series before it feel more united and epic. Every episode, every lesson Twilight learned led up to this episode, and many were featured in it.

 

Besides that, the musical aspect played a huge part for me. I love musicals, and this episode pulled off the musical formula so well, albeit in a much abbreviated timeframe. Each of the songs was different, and each drove the story forward. Without this being a musical, it wouldn't be possible to accomplish what it needed to in the timeframe. "I've Got To Find A Way" is still in my top 3 songs in the series.

 

And I have to meantion Celestia's scene. This was one of the best and most emotional scenes and songs in the series, and was pulled off flawlessly. Heck, I think this scene alone made the episode for me. It was just so well done, and single-handedly tied the entire series together.

 

There's a lot more I like about it, but these are the main things. This episode was a fantastic way to conclude one of the main story arcs in the series, and paved way for more in the future. I can watch this episode over and over and it doesn't get old.

 

... I haven't really thought about season 4's episodes yet, although I like a lot of them. However, Princess Twilight Sparkle may have topped Magical Mystery Cure for me. It was very, very well done. Haven't thought about it enough yet to make that official though!

It's been a while since I updated my favorite episode so here it is.

Pinkie Pride!

 

This episode does everything right. It pulls of having a celeberty guest, it shows Pinkie with so much depth, it's a musical episode without being rushed and it has some of the most hilarious moments in the show.

Either "Swarm of the Century" "It's About Time" or "Party of One"

 

Swarm of the Century has so many great moments. Twilight's freak-out at the end, ("We have to build an exact copy of Ponyville right over there. We have less than a minute!") it was her best until Lesson Zero. Pinkie running around, seemingly ignoring the danger in favor of instrument gathering while everyone is annoyed with her. I especially loved Rarity's scream after Pinkie abandons her in her shop filled with parasprites. Rarity's freakouts are always the best. And the looks on the other five ponies' faces when Pinkie marches by with her instruments playing is priceless, not to mention the serious, determined look on Pinkie's face as she plays. 

 

Party of One was Pinkie's best unhappy episode, to me at least. Pinkie Pride was great but she never reached the levels of sadness and horror that she reached in Party of One. Her suspicious interrogations were hilarious as well, and of course her chasing of Rainbow Dash, who can fly better than any pony in Ponyville but somehow can never outrun Pinkie. 

 

It's About Time really plays to the Star Trek fan in me. TIme travel almost always makes for a good story, and the fact that they slipped a literal temporal paradox into a MLP episode is awesome to me. 

 

 

If I had to pick one, gun to my head, I'd probably go with Swarm of the Century.

My favorite episode is Too Many Pinkie Pies! It's just a really awesome episode with plenty of gags, Pinkie Pie development, and the whole Mirror Pool thing was cool. I also really like Mmmystery on the Friendship Express, so that's a close second.

When I heard about Power Ponies, I thought I was going to hate it.  When I finally saw it, I loved it!  It was hilarious.  I lost my shit when Fluttershy Hulked out to cartoony muscly proportions.  I can safely say it was my favorite episode.  At least so far.

My favorite episode(s) is the Return of Harmony. It was just an all around perfect episode and a great start to season 2.

This is tough, especially since the show has changed a bit over the 4 seasons. I'll just name my favorite from each season

 

Season 1: A Dog and Pony Show

This one's tough because it's been a few months since I watched season one and I've only re-watched a few episodes. I'll say this one because Rarity was awesome and I loved the play on the damsel in distress trope. I'm not sure if any season one episode would make my top 10, but this one would be close

 

Season 2: A Canterlot Wedding

Just an awesome, cinematic episode. Not perfect, but the songs, animation, action, and emotion displayed are simply incredible. This season was really stacked with great episodes, but I have to say this one is the best

 

Season 3: The Crystal Empire

MMC and Sleepless In Ponyville definitely rival it, but this episode is simply epic. The moral of self-sacrifice is also really good and overall this may be my favorite two-parter

 

Season 4: Twilight's Kingdom

Excelled at the same things A Canterlot Wedding did, without the minor logical problems. Stunning and emotionally intense, this episode is my favorite at the moment (we'll see how it holds up when I re-watch the series)

 My personal favorites are Party of One and Lesson Zero. I love Party of One because it reveals the dark side of the show and it is written extremely well. I also like Lesson Zero because it shows Twilight's crazy side. (In general, I love the episodes where the ponies go crazy.)
