Honesty - Deception. Dishonesty works, but deception sounds better.

Kindness - Spitefulness

Loyalty - Betrayal

Generosity - Greed

Laughter - Despair

Magic - ......Don't have anything. Normality?

Honesty - Deception

Kindness - Cruelty

Loyalty - Selfishness

Generosity - Avarice

Laughter - Despondency

Magic - Reality (analogical real life. Nothing is more ability-prohibitive than logistics.

Discord - Harmony (but you knew that)

Chaos - Order

Sunrise - Solar Prominence or Super Novae

Moonrise - Lunoeccentricity, or other such astronomical failures.

These are almost perfect.

To finish it off we have to come up with a valid opposite for Magic that fits the shows context.

Well it's staring at you in the title Friendship is Magic!

So if we look at the episode "Return to Harmony 1/2" where we see what I call the Elements of Discord.

Anti-Applejack is Deception

Anti-Fluttershy is Cruelty (Spiteful works too)

Anti-Rarity is Greed

Anti-Rainbow Dash is Betrayal

Anti-Pinkie Pie (aka Pinkamena) is a bit different since we see her in "Party of One" also.

In the literal sense Despair works, but in context Jealousy is more accurate.

Anti-Twilight need an Element of Discord. In context Friendship is Magic.. Therefore Anti-Twilight needs to the opposite of Friendly.

Hostility and Animosity works best!

My Little Discord: Animosity is Reality!

Heavens no, only close-minded people think that, not suggesting you are. Science only increases the magic.

No offense, but this seems like a pretty near-sighted viewpoint, if only because you're calling someone else close-minded about this.

Ever heard of Aurthur C Clarke's "Laws"? "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

This doesn't mean that they are the same, only that they are indistinguishable from each other at a high enough level.

I thought about this subject last night, and found this thread today and just wanted to share. I'm already using these in a story...

Honesty = Deceit

Laughter = Anguish

Generosity = Greed

Loyalty = Treachery

Kindness = Malice

Magic = Entropy (or Science, if you like)

I'm thinking Entropy (high entropy, really) is probably going to be a tough sell for most people, though...

Pretty much, the anti-elements of Discord.

My personal anti-element for magic would be realism. A world, a creative and interesting, exciting world like Equestria is magic - but if you keep denying every aspect of it because you are taking it too seriously and are a dead set realist you can really destroy the show or the good feeling of other worlds to people.

It's hard to explain, but that is my interpretation of that.

I said that in early 2012. Wow, a blast from the past huh! Actually I don't remember posting that but I remember this thread.

I don't even know what I was saying. Oh well.

No worries, we've all been there done that. I certainly have! ;)

So wow, I really dug up a tombstone thread! I guess I was thrown off by the closeness of month and day... and I kinda forgot the year. Oops. :P

I just want to add to the anti-magic element, because I see that other people have already said what I think about the other anti-elements. So I think the opposite of magic, based on the way Twilight acted in the Return of Harmony Part 2, is Loneliness or Despair. That is what makes the most sense to me. So there. XD
