How open are you about ponies?

I'm quite open about it. If people want to know, then I'd happily tell them. I've told my friends (and drilled most of the series into them by now) and although they wont convert they're fine with it. It really annoys me, however, when people call MLP 'gay' and 'queer.'

It depends on what way you look at it,

At school I'm 100% open about it since I could care less how they think about me, and wether they think i'm gay or not, I don't know about others but my friends are fine about it and often even joke about it not once have they made fun of it or called it gay though so thats good.

But at home I'm only like 20% open about it, Like my mom knows I watch it, and my nan has seen me watching pony videos but other than that no relatives know.

Oh man, I hate those people. They're almost as bad as people who try to rationalise their prejudicial hatred for MLP, claiming it's "inappropriate" for grown men to be watching shows for little girls. I do my very best to love and tolerate the shit out of them.

Very true. Its like telling people that raianbows are gay. Rainbows for crying out loud! Theres absolutely nothing wrong with rainbows or MLP. I just don't understand it at all.

*rainbows, sorry my bad.

When me and one of my friends (the only one who accepts MLP) played the theme song as a joke to see how the others reacted, one of my friends went ''Oh, you two are so f*cking gay''. I hate that they can't simply accept what me and others like. He oftenly complains about when my other friends are playing World of Warcraft too. He says ''That game is so f*cking shit. I mean, the axe on that guys back goes through the cape'', with that being an acceptable flaw in such an awesome game and cannot just understand that my friends like it and that there is no problem in them doing so.

Better run, run, run, run, run.

Everyone knows I watch ponies and they seem cool with it but what I hate is that I can't get anyone to watch it with me. I wish I had some real life brony friends. :(

Some of people know that I watch MLP. The female ones mostly laugh at it and the male ones think it is not normal and I may be pedophile. No bronies @ my school but my friends are really open minded and maybe some day I can convince some of them to try it ^^ Edited by Laz0r

I've been fairly open about it to people, not showing it in public like on a t-shirt (yet) but talking about it with friends however strange they think it might be.

I'm fairly laid back so I don't let it bother me.

I guess I'm pretty lucky in being a female bronie. I'm actively trying to get my mom to watch an episode. I told her about all the Pinkie-Pie scary cupcake fan art and songs, and she thought it was hysterical. (She loved Sweeney Todd!)

List of people I am comfortable with knowing this : All friends'n'my brother.

List of people I am uncomfortable with knowing this : Parents, etc.

Mom knowing would probably cause just a few jokes for a while and not much else.

I would say around 90%, I'm an open brony in public and school, but I prefer to keep the images that I have of ponies a secret from my parents. Quote multiple MLP characters even though not many people know what the hell I'm talking about, and my best friend is currently looking over my shoulder to see why I am actually typing all of this out, even though he is not a brony.

My mother's opinion wouldn't change. Unsure about my father. He won't find out anytime soon though, not living here and all :D

Your parents are racist it seems. About ponies, I mean :o

And alas, I must inform you I have quite a few IRL-bronyfriends. None as fanatic as me, except maybe 1 of 'em I know lesser.

As open as I was about Yoshi, i.e: I never mention it, but not trying to absolutely hide it. If classmates or relatives discover it, I'm sure it'll be fine. It's not like my sexual orientation, which I know my parents consider a mental illness.

I'm kinda open about it.

I don't really want to tell my dad, cause he thinks i'm tough...

I really don't care if my friends know, they just laugh, and i'm like "Yeah, wait until you watch an episode. You'll love it!".

My first day of official bronydom an old lady was looking for My Little Pony figure. So I got to sit there and look at the merch for a bit without any judgementalism. I was debating in my head whether or not to describe the Pony she was looking for by name, or by physical appearance. You know... it's the difference between "No this one is purple with a pink stripy thingy, the picture shows a pink one" and "No this is Twilight Sparkle, you're looking for Pinkie Pie"

Granted I also only knew half the pony names having only watched 4 episodes from the time I woke up till the time I had gone to work and they were my first 4 episodes.

My girlfriend and confident know. Confident not so much but I think my GF is wierded out by how much I bring it up. However she's madly enhooved with me so she's not going anywhere. XD

It's a bummer your parents are the sick ones. If anything is a mental illness it's bigotry from cultural brainwashing. Sexual orientation is mostly out of our control. Even if it wasn't, who cares? It's like saying that you can't fall in love with a black person because you're white, or that a white person is mentally ill if they fall in love with an asian. They will use roughly the same exact arguments too. There's a ton of evidence both scientific and anecdotal that shows that the people who are the most against homosexuals are either repressing their own intimate desires or they are just extremely ignorant due to a cult belief (religious or otherwise)

As an example Michelle Bachman (Tea Party candidate on the Republican side) is married to a guy who calls homosexuals savages in a very effeminate voice while talking about how everyone has those kinds of tendencies or desires, but they shouldn't be acting upon them. Then he's also someone who "trains gays to be straight." I'm not sure if he's one of those lunatics that holds gay people to turn them straight or not, but... no matter how you look at it, the dude is clearly repressing sexual urges in an unhealthy way.

But for now you gotta behave until you are no longer under your parents immediate control. Until then all you can do is love and tolerate the spit out of them until they can return your efforts with some to spare.

Sorry about the rant on matters that are not of my own business. However... I spend way too much time trying to find out more about reality. Despite the fact that I'm posting this message on a magical pony message board. Wow... That's a pretty blatant contradiction. lol

I'm open on the internet. Completely open on the internet, but not in RL, if I told everyone I'll get so much hate, and all my friends will laugh at me, for now its a secret IRL. Well until further notice ;] I haven't bought any toys yet... But I plan too, I have no idea how I'm going too, It will be completely awkward walking down a pink iel. I guess I'm just have to stick with the hate...

Anyway, awesome post!
