Your Sleeping Patterns? And Any Methods of Getting to Sleep?

My sleeping patterns come from being in the military. During basic and Tech school we had to get use to sleeping 6 hours a day minus weekends for Tech school. My body go so use to this that now I sleep between 5 to 7 (if I'm lucky the 7, dam cat takes care of that a lot) hours a night. I've always been an early bird but now with such a sleep cycle, I've become a night owl as well. Normally my bed time is between midnight and about 1:30 as late as 2 in the morning (not counting Saturday morning where lately bedtime is 4 to 6am) so ya. Would love to drop this 6 hour cycle and have tried but something tells me I'm stuck with it for a long while.

I don't sleep as often as i should. I'd rather supply my body with fatal amounts of coffee, anyway. I can only fall asleep while assuming the fetal position leaning on my right. If i try to sleep in any other position, i'll fail to fall asleep and would just grow increasingly tired and groggy.

I work until about Midnight - 1 AM every night, so I'm usually up until like 7 or 8 AM playing video games or whatnot.

I have a few methods I can share. Sometimes at work, I'm required to come in on a Monday morning (;-;) around 8 am and unload a huge truck. Obviously, the way I sleep has an effect on this.

There are times in my life that require me to reset my sleeping schedule, which is pretty easy to do, take it from a guy who knows.

To reset your sleeping, you'll need to stay up all night and day, the go to sleep at an appropriate time the next night to fit into a schedule.

Let's say my current sleep schedule now is going to sleep at 7 AM, and waking up at 3 PM. Today is Thursday, so let's say I'll need to be up at 8 AM on Saturday. What I'll need to do is after waking up at 3 PM later today, I'll have to stay up all night, then all day on Friday. Friday night, I'll go to sleep at probably 8 PM, so I'll be sure to have plenty of sleep by 8 AM on Thursday, it's actually pretty simple.

Also, here's a tip: Your body can (believe it or not) run just fine with only 5 hours of sleep. Try to train your body to get used to only having 5 hours, and you can use this to easily work with new sleeping schedules.

Hope this helps some people out! ^^

I don't have any sleeping patterns. I'm awake when I'm not tired, and still awake when tired. And when I'm so tired I feel like I'm gonna faint, I get to my bed and do that.

My sleeping patterns are messed up. Sometimes I stay up all night and sleep all day and vice versa. It's mostly because I haven't found a job yet so I'm bored most of the day and I don't feel tired because I don't physically move much.

That sounds a lot like me.  My biggest problem is that I've never adhered to a 24-hour day very well.  I sleep for 8 hours, but I just don't feel tired enough to go to bed after being awake for 16 hours.  17 hours is just perfect.  Then I'm ready for bed.  But that's a 25 hour day.  And that's kinda how I live.  On a 25 hour day.  So my bedtime keeps creeping forward gradually.  Basically, it will slowly shift until I'm completely nocturnal, then it will go all the way full circle again until I'm completely diurnal.  The whole cycle takes a couple months, usually.  I try my best to maintain consistency, but it rarely works for long.  Even when I work out and get physical activity, I just work best being awake 17 hours and asleep for 8.  So, as of late I've been working on a way to slow the rotation of the earth just a smidge.  Gotta be careful though.  Go a little too far and we'll end up with Remus.

I have irregular sleep patterns. D: I wake up during the night at least one or two times. As for what helps me, I usually have to watch TV to fall asleep or relax. It's the only way I can sleep. It's also part of my routine, and breaking my routines is extremely challenging.

Welp, I just go to sleep when I'm tired enough, which is usually anywhere from 11:00-2:00. :P I don't like to stay up too much later though since then I'll feel too tired when I have to go to school the next morning. Sometimes I'll take a nap if I didn't get enough sleep the night before.

I like to sleep in for a couple extra hours on weekends though :P

My sleeping patterns are really irregular. D: They have been when I was a kid.

However, I once went to my psychologist one day and he has taught me how to fix my sleeping patterns. Usually, the way I deal with it is to stop drinking any soft drinks starting from 4:00 PM and stop using electronics at around 9:00 PM. After I dealt with both, I'd take a relaxing shower and mentally prepare myself for the next day.

Unfortunately, I kind of forgotten about this, but back when I was doing it, it always works like a gem. I strongly recommend anyone to try out how I once overcome my sleeping pattern! :D

Usually I get super tired when falling asleep naturally. Sleeping methods? Maybe just lay down and watch t.v or listen to soft classical music. Oh maybe milk? (That would be gross... I'm lactose so yeah.)

Maybe 5 hours is enough for your brain but if you workout it's not enough sleep. Muscles need to rest, bodybuilders tend to get a lot more than 5 hours sleep when training. If your not doing anything physical I guess 5 hours is enough. I've been up till late at my computer for many nights in a row running my site I either need to change my schedule or train myself to sleep less. This could be interesing.

I sleep from about 10 PM to 6AM on weeknights, and 11 PM to 7AM on weekdays. I cannot fall asleep easily if I have anything even vaguely exciting planned for the next day; I'll just lay awake trying to contemplate the possible outcomes . If I've done something especially embarrassing on any given day, I'll usually sleep in a very exaggerated fetal position, with the happenings of that day playing over in my head like some creepy silent film. I usually fall asleep in about 30-60 minutes, but I find that wiggling my toes(wut?)makes me drift off earlier.

I have low blood pressure which doesn't help me with waking up in the morning. If i'm being responsible, i'd sleep around 6-7 hours. on days where i don't need to be, i get around 3-5.

I have a pretty late sleeping schedule. I usually end up hitting the hay sometime after 5am and wake up around 3pm.

I have a pretty good technique for trying to get to sleep, but it isn't really a sure thing. I call it the listing game. I think of a certain thing and I try to list as much of "the things" as possible.

Examples could be: How many water pokemon can I mention, what Folk metal bands do I know, How many anime chicks with blue hair can I list, etc (whatever you want really)

whenever you feel your thoughts trailing off the list try to continue and list a few more. Trying to fish for things to list can start getting a little mentally exhausting and eventually you'll wanna just stop thinking and go to sleep

I have experimented a lot with sleep schedules for a few years. What I can say is, polyphasic sleep is hard!!!

Right now I am trying to get back on a stable schedule, at 3:15AM :P

If anyone is interested I can talk about my experience with alternative schedules.

Sleeping patterns? What are those? :P

Really, my sleep schedule has changed so much since I left school that it's not even worthy of being called a schedule. ._. I only really fall asleep- sometimes against my own will- when I'm actually exhausted, and trying to sleep before that achieves nothing. I normally sleep sometime during the day, however, and wake up in the middle of the night if I'm lucky (I love nighttime~ <3); I can sleep sometimes for only four hours or so, and at other times, I end up sleeping for eight or more hours against my will. Naps are something I never take; my body just seems to adjust how long I sleep for to compensate.
