Your Study Methods?

Studying is honestly pointless if you have a good teacher :) take good notes in class and listen carefully and you will get everything you need from the in-class experience.

I agree with you to an extent.

Paying attention in class is how you learn the material. Of course it's important... probably the most important factor when it comes to learning. However, that is not always enough. Doing your homework is important as well, as it ensures you know what you are doing on your own. It's also a gradient, becoming more complex as it's assigned. It keeps you on your toes and effectively locks down the material you learn in class. This is enough effort for things such as weekly quizzes.

However, tests and exams cover much more content than just a quizzy-poo. That is where studying comes in. It ensures you know your stuff and don;t forget anything you learned a few weeks/months ago. I am sure you have had those moments during a test where you go "GAAAAH!!!! I know I know how to do this... why can't I remember!?". That happens because you didn't review. That is where studying comes in.

Although class-time is enough learning for people to get by with, it is a long stretch from optimal. You should not be satisfied knowing that you could have done better.

Agreed :) I have never needed to study anything but the notes I took in class for exams,, if you take them well enough then its really all you need. Don't automatically trust your knowledge, but it does help

My unluckiness is that studying doesn't help me as much as it probably should. I just have a really good memory. This is a problem because I know i'm going to end up having a hard time when I go to college.

However, after watching a lot of crash course, I think maybe i have an idea. My plan is to learn... by teaching. Im thinking that I could do quick videos about the subject i'm learning. I did this when I was learning the Odyssey, so I know it works :P

That's all I got. If anypony has a better idea for studying, please say so....

Geography: i don't study it, it's too easy for me

History: i just see what my teacher said that was important

Art: just flip the pages so i can remember the things

Science: I don't know how are the schools in the US, but here, in the secondary schools, it is divided in three: Biology,Physics and Chemistry

Biology: i just go remembeing what i saw by flipping all the book pages

Physics: i just remember all the formulas(don't know if it is right)

Chemistry: this is the hardest one, because i have to remember the linus pauling(i don't remember his name) diagram and some other things that are hard

Spanish:My spanish is good enough to keep my grades good at school, so i don't study it.

Portuguese: i try to remember all the grammar rules and when to apply them

Math: Read the all the book and re-do the teacher's question on the revisions.

this is all i can remember, since i am on vacation since november.

flashcards, lots and lots of flashcards. sometimes i'll also study by typing words and their definitions into notepad repetitively.

i'll also read alot about the subject. like wikipedia the whole thing and watch youtube videos abotu the subject. for art history, i would actually draw the piece of art on my flashcards and in my notes. it helped immensely!

I honestly don't really study as of now being a freshman in highschool, so i guess I either just memorize it first time, or repeat it in my head enough that I don't even realize I memorize it.

I guess technically I study just before tests because our teachers give us the chance right before tests.

Other then that I don't really do any big study sessions. If I do its just reading notes.

Okay this might seem a bit of a "stretched truth", but I honestly assure you it's the truth. I'm only in high school now, and I don't know how it will work when I go college (if at all). Basically, I do the most amazing thing... Listen in class   ( seems so much as sarcasm to me, but it's actually not xD)

Anyway... I memorize almost all the stuff we're supposed to know right when we first learn it. When I go home I just do my homework (if any), on rare occasions look through my notes a bit if I forget something important, and just poni-poni for the rest of the day. I still get away with A's and B's, my lowest grade is a single D, and 2 C's, everything else is higher than that. And I don't know if I'm super smart, or the guy in my class are super-un-smart, but they are always like "zomgawd i studydd alll nieth! how couwld i get an f omigad the teecher hatez me omigawd!!1!!on!1one!11!", and I know all the stuff the teacher asks them without studying...Soo...yeah...Ponies make you smarter? Now when I look back, I discovered MLP last summer, and this year I have the highest grades I've ever had before...Hmm...Strange stuff  . In past grades I would usually go with C's and D's, maybe some B's in there...nothing special. Again, strange stuff.

my study habits are essentially non existent:

My typical "study" routine went a little something like this:

1.Tell myself I'll study hours before I plan on studying

2.write it down about a billion times

3. Do every little odd unnecessary task before study to delay studying (a.k.a procrastinate)

4. Retrieve study materials from study material carrying sac

5.stare at study materials for a good hour

6.fall asleep

7.repeat

I'm sure I'm not the only one out there with a study "routine" like this....

I AM? OKAY....bye.

Math:

29983288.jpg

History/Science: Memorize

Speech: Now I know not too many people have this class, but the ones that do, should study by just giving their speech to their pets and keep practicing, it well help extremely.

English: I don't even know why this is even a subject in highschool. All my class has done is reading, and a test over the reading (Like Romeo and Juliet) So I guess just pay attention.

I also had an anatomy course, and it was rather easy to study since I could easily relate with it. (You know, just study yourself)

I got none.

Well, the best I do is review things on my head. When it's an English, Science, or Social studies test, i'll review online, go over old worksheets. But if it's math, I'll oftenly make problems on my head and solve them, or I'll ask someone for a problem, and I'll solve it in my head xD

My study method usually go something like this...

~Prep my study material

~Get nice and comfortable in my room with no distractions

~Start playing Xbox.

~Maybe play on my computer if I have time.

~Get to class late

~Cram like hell in the time before the test/exam

And on a few occasions I don't even cram! :3

I can never get any work done or study at home. That's why I have study hall. I get all my work done there. If there's te option of having one, I recommend having it.

I know this is a really bad study habit, but I find listening to music helpful to me. Of course, it has to be calm music and not SCREAMO or RAP or anything like that. Also, I hate studying at home. My family makes too much noise that even my door won't cover the noises. I'm better off going to the college library, which is kinda like my second home.

Flash cards and Cornell notes help a ton for me when it comes to memorizing stuff.

I just attend class, and do the homework.

When its time for the exams, normally there is a review sheet that is given a week or two before. I just glance over that and see what I don't remember. Then I'll just do a quick reading of what it is.

Though really, I found attending class + doing the homework = no need to study much

i put off studying until the very last minute or the last day. I then watch tv or put on some music and do a 2 hour cram session. *cue the study montage* after all that i know enough to pass the test or mid term. I usually get a B or B- after all this which is really wierd

Here is a breakdown for all my classes

Physics- I might read over the chapter, review specific equations, and different types of questions the test might ask us.

German- Review Grammar and Vocab for about 20 minutes the night before

Business Law- I don't they're all open book (that class is pretty much just a filler and has no real use)

English- I read the book once and hope for the best.

Astronomy-I don't study, the tests are super easy.

AP US History: We get a review sheet and I copy each term onto a notecard with a brief description on the back and have my mom quiz me for about an hour or two.

Algebra 2: Math comes really easy to me so I don't really study at all.

I do studying in bits of increments a few days at a time and when it comes close to the exam start studying for extended periods of time.

I can't study very well at home so I go to my school's library and study there I like having silence so I can focus on what it is I am trying to study.

I know this is a bad thing, but I honestly don't study.

When I do, it's tends to be on the day of the test, which means I'm likely to fail, unless I get lucky.

But sometimes I actually forget to study and don't remember until a period before that class. ._.

The Reason for Why I Don't Study

I've tried studying, but I get frustrated and I can't concentrate. I have a hard time studying at home, their are WAYYY too many distractions, like my sister and mom. :/
