Are there any threads that you regret creating?

I have two off the top of my head:

"Some Bronies Seriously Lack Imagination" This thread was a horrible idea. I was just angry that people weren't seeing the potential stories that could come out of Twilight being an alicorn so I made this stupid thread. It's one of those "You're Anti-Twilicorn, therefore, you suck" kind of threads. That's not what it was meant to be, but that's how it turned out.

"Are There Any Fanon Ideas That Offend You?"- I was inspired to create this thread after reading theories that said Fluttershy is shy as a result of abuse. I was sort of offended by that theory because I am shy myself, and I really don't like it when extroverts try to psychoanalyze introverts. I sort of got carried away, and listed a bunch of other fanon stuff that was "offensive" and all I was really doing was attacking different parts of the fandom rather than ignoring the stuff I don't care for, and letting the fandom enjoy what they enjoy.

Also, are there any threads you wanted to create at first, but than decided that it would be a bad idea? I have a few:

I was going to make two threads, one called "Am I The Only One Who Likes Dragon Quest?" and one called "Am I The Only One Who Absolutely Adores One Bad Apple?" but I've recently decided to only think about my own opinions of episodes, because the fandom has a habit of taking one single flaw of an episode and declaring the whole episode to be "the worst episode ever."Reading the fandom's reviews stopped being fun, so now I no longer care about their opinions.

I was also going to make a thread called "My Little Dashie Is Overrated" but that would've only caused flame wars, and I've also recently decided that it's not good to try to convince other people to stop liking something. After reading someone on this site who disliked Magical Mystery Cure wanting to convince Digibrony to dislike it, I was a little angry. It's okay not to like something, but trying to convince someone else who really enjoys it to dislike it isn't cool.

I created a thread once where I wanted to discuss the nature of the Elements of Harmony, specifically I pointed out how Magic didn't seem to fit the pattern the other Elements followed. The responses pretty much all pointed out my logical fallacy. Funnily enough, I thought that everyone had missed my point and was getting annoyed about it until it suddenly sank in that they *did* answer my question, and I was being too dense to understand *their* points.

While I don't regret starting the thread, I do regret my attitude during the thread.

I created an "alicorn Twilight yes or no?" poll several months ago that ended up feeding the flames of the growing controversy. If I could go back I probably would pass on it...but I guess someone else would make it instead. xD

Going back further, last fall I made my first and only thread in Life Advice about my social anxiety and avoidance issues. Not one member who replied really understood what I was talking about, so their contributions weren't very helpful. It was a blig letdown for me and I wish I'd never done it in the first place.

The infernal "General Chat Thread". I regret the creation of that bloody thing every day of my life. One can only imagine the vile and wretched things that go on in that thread.

Just kidding. tongue.png I don't recall ever making any threads I regret. I generally don't make threads unless they can be really useful in some way.

Only a few RPs and Forum Games that seemed really cool in the beginning, and generated a fair amount of interest, but then nobody ended up joining them, or people (including me) didn't keep up with them, so they died. Never fun to put a bunch of work into something that dies after a few weeks.

Oh, and the thread(s) in which I used to keep people updated about the shmup I used to make. Nobody seemed to care after the first update :/

I have only created a small handful of threads and honestly, the only one I can think of that I regret making would have to be either that one Playstation rumor thread or the Lego creations thread.

I regret them both mostly because I found out that there were already threads of them beforehand and I kind of didn't check for that :L

other than that...

that's all I got

I don't think that there's any threads that I regret creating, but then again, I very rarely create threads.  If anything, there's definitely some posts that I'd love to take back, but not threads.

There's a few threads that I've considered creating, but stopped myself.  The only one I can think of right now was detailing the first time I bought MLP merch in public, and how I felt silly that I was so worried about it.  I then decided that there was really no point in making that its own topic because it had probably been done before, so I tried to make a blog post.  About halfway through creating that, I decided that it sounded stupid and could be summarized in a much shorter manner while still getting the point across, so I finally settled on just a status update.

I've never made a thread I regretted, I always think them through quite a lot before I post them. Plus, it also helps that I don't amke them that often. One thing I regret though is not updating the Ultimate MLP Forums Posting Guide or the GuiDe to Proper Reporting Etiquette back when I was a mod. Too much stress going on at the time for me to care enough, really. :3

Posts, yes. Threads, no. Most of the time, I regret posts where I try to give advice, especially about life (hence why I lurk but not post in Life Advice). Upon rereading them later, I sound really haughty and superior to myself.

No, not really.. the threads I've created where role play threads that are no longer open. I haven't really created other discussion type threads... there are already so many and I guess I'd fear that I'd accidently make a repeat of something.

I haven't regretted making any threads because I am awesome.

OK but seriously, the only threads that I "regret" making are some of the ones I made in the feedback thread. When I make them I think that I am being a contributing member to the forum's well-being because I know how things should be run, but then I read the responses and then I reread my post and I go, "Well now, that was just silly."

I posted one thread that might have come back to haunt me.  I posted a rant about a friend I just had an angry parting of the ways with in Life Advice.  Along the way I put down a little TMI about myself as well as this ex-buddy.  But after some supportive responses I calmed down and decided to remove the incriminating details.  Nonetheless, I know that a lot of people lurk in Life Advice and I was worried that some of my normal correspondents would stop talking to me or otherwise think less of me.  But just like Rarity, I’m only human!  biggrin.png   I have a right to express my anger and misgivings like anybody else.  That’s what the Life Advice forum is there for.  Most people here seem to understand this and I didn’t lose any friends as a result.

There may have been one or two other threads I now think were dumb to make, but I don't regret them.  However, one other thing I’ve done is to give out compliments of an almost too personal nature.  I did this here and on other sites recently.  Everybody likes receiving praise for their hard work.  So I took things one step farther to pat them on the back for what appeared to be inherently good artistic and writing ability.  It seemed like a good idea at the time.  The response?  Not one thank you or acknowledgment.  I can think of two things that went wrong here.  One, I’m not an expert on artistic or writing matters.  I’m in no position to judge another person's natural skill.  And two, I’m an anonymous online acquaintance most people feel zero emotional attachment to.  It’s their parents' job to make that kind of a fuss over them, not mine.  So to hear stuff like that from me might seem awkward.  So from here on out I’ll limit my praise strictly to the handiwork on display.  Thankfully, it doesn’t look like anybody was alienated by this either.

Well I created the "Warface" thread for the game, but that thing just went so untouched, unfortunately for me. I also made a thread in "Forum Games" a while back, and it was hot at first but slowly died off.

I made that "Do You Like My Avy?" thread and got a warning for advertising. Then it was found out that I hadn't even seen the rules yet due to a glitch, and therefore I think I should not have been expected to know that that was considered "advertising" on this site... (It was a thread about compilation albums that donate to charity.) Yet my warning wasn't taken away. So... yeah. My only regret on that thread :P

Years back I used to make threads I regretted all the time. Generally they would not end well. One in particular comes to mind wherein I posted a link to an unfavorable review of an album of a band that I liked-it was very much in that "accentuate the negative" style that the cynical internet loves so much-and I said that it didn't have any constructive criticism in it at all and didn't back any of its points up. And everyone was like "Sorry yer band got bashed" and "Why don't you cry about it?" and the dude who wrote the review even showed up. I was like "Whoah..."There were others throughout the years, but that one sticks out to me the most.

I think the only thread I ever regret posting is my own introduction thread. I just blabbed and blabbed and blabbed and blabbed and well, I had so much to say that I may have bore the people that wanted to know about me. xD I *did* had a lot to say, just wasn't expecting the reception xD

For other threads, I haven't made one in other sections, so I can't answer that.

I made a couple of threads for art requests in order to get some practice, but due to my tendency to procrastinate, I never actually delivered anything. I really need to build myself a work ethic before I make promises to people.

I actually haven't started that many threads. I think in total, I've probably started less than 10. And I don't regret any of them.

I regret some posts, generally anything that's resulted in an argument, but those are few and far between.

Heck yeah

'Am I the only one who wets the bed' thread, good advice in that thread and thanks to all the people in that that participated with the friendly advice, but I personally regret creating that thread more than any other thread if I'm honest because it's embarrassing

Nope. I'm usually pretty cautious when creating threads, and I'm more likely to skip on creating a good one than to make a bad one, at least in my opinion. There are a few that I've almost made that I would certainly have regretted but I controlled myself.
