Bronies have been hated on by countless people. Trolls and haters on YouTube and other site, Fox News, and generally today's "society".I have been curious and just wanted to know if being a brony affected your love life?

This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner.

This is an automatically generated message, by the way.

Not particularly. Mind you, I've been married almost exactly 10 years (come May!), to a woman who literally stabbed me in the back with a dagger when I was TA'ing her stage combat class.

I don't think ponies really registers on the 'upset-o-meter' relatively speaking. cool.png

I have been single before and after becoming a brony, but there has been more negative feedback from the community since i became a brony. Its good to hear that other people are in relationships and that stereotypes have not killed us all lol

Actually, being a brony affected my current relationship rather positively. Back when my boyfriend and I were still just friends, I was the only brony. His best friend was also a brony, but he didn't really think much of it, other than it was weird that he liked my little pony.

So, one day I was wearing my Fluttershy shirt(this was when he was crushing on me), and his friend pointed it out. He was very surprised to learn that I liked MLP too. I started talking about MLP with his friend, and he suddenly because a lot more interested in watching the show. :B He started watching it when spring break rolled around, and had a convenient subject to text me about. So we start talking about ponies, which eventually led to talking about other stuff. Long story short, he eventually asked me out, we started dating, and he became a brony. :P

So you are married to the female equivalent to the Spy from Team Fortress 2? That is the best possible candidate for a spouse. Good work :P

I don't always discuss MLP, but when I do, I prefer MLP Forums.

Not really, I had one girlfriend in high school who lasted a month. I'm rather shy in real-life and don't really talk to anybody in real-life which i think affects me getting a girlfriend more then being a Brony. While i would prefer to have a Brony girlfriend, as long as she doesn't let me being part of a fandom effect our relationship negatively Then it doesn't matter whether she's a Brony or not, As long as we share some common interests and respect each others different views, opinions, and likes.

I'm a very friendly person and i always try to be there for people and make them smile no matter how long and how hard i have to try so when anyone's feeling down send me PM, Nothing makes me happier then being there for someone

The kind of the girls I'd go out with wouldn't judge me by which TV shows I like to watch.

At this point I'm not interested in a relationship with anyone, but if I was, I wouldn't make a big deal out of being a brony.

Well so far in high school, I didn't really have a relationship with a pegasister in my school because there are barely any fans of the show or members of the fandom except (me) part of the masculine group.

I guess it could work out but right now in my school, I see none at all.

Same here!!! Well I mean I talk to people in real life, but it's usually only my friends. I'm really shy though, which is likely the biggest reason I don't have a girlfriend.

I haven't been In a relationship before MLP and I haven't attempted at getting into one now.

So for me no nothing has changed much.

First of I'm shy and that makes it harder to talk to a girl.

Second I'm not looking to get into a relationship now, I mean I started my university life and for now in focusing in that. That's not to say I won't try dating, but I'm not going to do that right now currently.

Never been in a relationship before MLP, and still have never been in a relationship. Having social anxiety makes it kind of an uphill battle. I'd love to find someone, though, preferably a pegasister, because I have a best friend who is proof that shared interests are an important part of relationships (he and his girlfriend bonded over Batman, and have been in a storybook relationship for two years).

No, but it made me more of a man than i used to be.

I used to be self-conscious, now i don't give a buck what people think about me.

If someone was making front of me, i'd knock their teeth in just ignore them and continue with my life.

I've never dated anybody yet,but I did have quite a few girls crushing on me both pre- and post-brony status.Admittedly, most of them were crazy, but I would imagine they wouldn't care about me being a brony.

Besides,if I did get a girlfriend,she wouldn't care about me being a brony anyways.

I was single then and I'm single now. Mostly by choice, but I wouldn't mind meeting a nice Brony later on down the road.

Hmm, a lot of people voted no. I hope some of us have love lives going on. We don't want to be stereotyped as "nerds" and "losers" like I'm sure a lot of people think of the Brony community as.

It sure has affected my love-life!

I have a pegasister friend, and we love to chat to each other about the show, and fandom. I guess it really did bring us close together, anyway, after a while we started going out. (Yes, I'm a girl and she's a girl. FYI; I'm bisexual).

We've never fought, and we love each other VERY much! :3

No because my lovelife was non exsistant before becoming a brony, and is still non exsistant. So no change here.

Part of the reason I have no lovelife is because I'm to shy to ask anyone though i guess. Partly though because I'm not really the most handsome per say. :P.

 D'Awww :3

Thats wonderful to hear ^_^

It's always nice to hear about peoples love for each other and it warms your heart to hear :)

Being a Brony shouldn't effect us negatively. If someone doesnt love you for being a Brony, then they don't deserve to love you, period. Love transcends what people are fans of.

I wish I had a girlfriend. I've never had one, and I feel too old to still be single. I've registered on a dating site, but so far no one has responded to my emails.

Considering that a friend introduced me to the person I've been with for a year now, because of our common interest in FiM, I'd have to say that, like encountering anyone with similar interests, it does have it's positive points.
Had I not encountered the series, I'd have not met her.

Um... no?

Well, for the most part. Me and a CERTAIN forum member (;;Cough;; ) will most likely officially hook up when we meet in real life. If it weren't for my being a pony fan, I would've never met him. 'Cause we met right here on the forums. So... I guess kinda? Our relationship though has gone beyond our interest in the show, and we've really just discovered that we have so much in common that we kind of share the same brain. (To the point where we're kind of like the BORG or something. We can appoint one of us to speak for both as a representative with little problem. Weird collective thingy) So it really is only relevant in that it introduced me to him. Though I have the feeling that if we had found each other on some other forum for some other interest, it would've played out similarly anyway.

Other than that, I usually seem to get introduced to my potential relationships over the internet or whatever forum I happen to frequent at the time. People on the internet are typically as bizarre, dorky, and messed up as I am (if not moreso), so they don't really care about the ponies much. And since this is my Forum of the Now, it DEFINITELY guarantees that my like in ponies won't be ostracized.

Short answer: Not much, no. I don't consider my like in ponies to be an essential part of who I am, and if I did want to pursue a relationship with somebody who was neutral or had a (rational, as in, they don't get angry and start insulting me just because I watch ponies) dislike, I honestly wouldn't care. I'm more than just a pony fan, y'know. I'm a person, with many more depths and layers than that. It's stupid to judge. (Since I am a female though, I would probably not get it all that bad, to be honest)

(By the way, I'm the one who voted "It's complicated." Because it technically IS a relationship... but it isn't? Yeah, it's confusing. We don't even know what it is. We just know it will be one once we meet for real.)

I hate to feed the stereotype, but yeah, I've never been in a relationship and ponies haven't changed that.  I don't find that surprising though, since no one IRL would know that I'm a brony unless they looked at my internet history, looked in my desk drawer and found my stash of MLP comics, or were told by myself (highly unlikely) or my group of friends (slightly more likely).  Maybe if I were more open about it it could change, but I wouldn't know.

I've been married for 16 years. So I go up to her and say "oh, so, um... This My Little Pony thing is WAAAY bigger than I expected. I don't quite understand it, but I'm more interested in it than I ever was in Star Trek or anything else like that." She didn't kick me out or have me killed. In fact, yesterday she and the kids all were cruzing around to their appointments in brony shirts. So I guess that's a "no effect". You find the right person to marry, and they take weird stuff like this in stride.
