What sort of things have people made fun of you for?

Being very quiet and awkward

Being a recluse

Talking a lot

Being "nerdy" (whatever that means)

Being "edgy" (whatever that means)

Being short

Having feminine-ish interests like pop culture, certain music, certain books, etc (whatever "feminine" means)

Being sensitive and emotional

For hurting myself

For being half asian

For being super weak

For not being good at sport

For being a loner at school

For being super shy

I’ve been made fun of for being lonely and shy too. People legitimately think it’s like a disease or something and it’s not. If everyone in the world were complete extroverts I think we’d all go a little crazy, anyways.

I'm actually a little less shy these days ;p and while shy i've always been sorta more ambivert although never been super out there. In my case it was more just fear and uncomfortableness yep so ya. I still get somewhat shy in situations i'm not comfortable in so it still kinda happens a bit. But yeah I dont think everyone should be expected to be 100 per cent out there telling everything about themselves, some ppl r much more private by nature.

For me the fear was that sometimes it was easy to feel like someone was almost reading ur thoughts and judging you and that every mistake. Though it didnt help I didn't really fit in and therefore didn't always feel comfortable enough to talk, meanwhile back then I saw supposedly really shy people being quite talky because their friends were supportive, and me on the other hand being ther loner type in the background ;P Maybe I gave some kinda vibe idk

But yea I think it is easy for people to judge because they don't relate to things.

-----

I tried asking someone advice on talking to my parents but I just got this reply which made me feel like grr being kinda pushed away and cuz my age apparently it's better not to talk to my parents or something which really confused me.

Yea I know i'm not good at "adulting" but I feel like you shouldn't judge someone for their age or asking for advice and i think it is still important to talk to ur parents, especially as I wanted to try. I have a lot of fears and I haven't done a lot of certain things so when people judge you just for asking advice that kinda hurts.

In school people would tease me for being short, and quiet.  That was about it.

People now tease me about how quiet I am, and how skinny I am.

I dunno.  Never feels like they’re making fun of me, it’s always in jest.  Or maybe they are and it feels like they aren’t cause I’m just not phased by it.

I was picked on mostly for having no irl friends in High School, I was always that one kid who would sit all alone at the lunch table  Some kids in my English class picked on me too for apparently being "fat" when in all honestly I'm more just husky than outright overweight. It still upset me regardless though :(

Luckily I'm out of High School now and I don't have to deal with those assholes anymore :rarity:

When I was a kid, like when I was still in private school, people used to make fun of me because I passed out a lot. Wasn't my fault I was born with low muscle tone. Just sitting up made me feel tired. Like, even a few minutes.

Oh, and also in private school, these idiots used to make fun of my wonky eye. (I had Stambismus, which I later got surgery for to fix.)

Oh, and in my Senior Year of High School (at my public school) a dude made fun of me for watching shows for kids. Like, old Nickelodeon stuff or just listening to Disney Channel songs on my phone.

  • 1 month later...

Lots of stuff.

My weight, hairline, my glasses, my likes and dislikes, how I am so quiet, etc. Mostly it was what I was trying to do or what I was trying to get into. Like trying to better myself with exercise or learning new hobbies or instruments. I'd get nothing but snide remarks like "Why are you doing that? That's so stupid you're not going to be able to do that." Really does a number on your ability to stick with something.

Well, they only made fun of my eyes (I'm a little cross-eyed, Strabismus is the name.) Guess they didn't think about something else, because it was all of primary school teasing me about it, plus mid secondary.. I renember that someone just punched me in the face, just because "I wanted to fix his problem."

My hair

My feet

Being pale

My weight, either I’m too fat or too thin. Can’t win here really.

Eating, either I eat too much and get made fun of or don’t eat enough and get made fun of. Like the previous one there’s no winning here.

The way I dress

Certain things I like

My religious views and sexuality

Acne (now this has improved greatly now that I’m older. As a teen though I had issues with zits/pimples. Now though I only occasionally get them.)

Glasses

My personality

Ive been made fun of for a lot of things

  • 4 years later...

The weirdest thing was for being too into it while playing basketball once by one of the class bullies. Truth be told I think I became much more reserved about appearing enthusiastic about things after that even though I don't recall it happening ever again, I guess I was concerned it would. *shrug*

(edited)

I used to work for a bank, where I enjoyed wearing fashionable office attire and not just some boring retails work clothes. One day, I had on a particular suit with a double buttons design. It was brown and I got it from my sister because she knows how much I love my uniformed outfit. One customer came up to me and said “are you serving or something?” Out loud in front of my supervisor who just chuckled with him. Internally, it’s was awkward but I just brush it off and continue on my work like usual.

Outfits usually says a lot for me because it’s one of the way to express myself, so I don’t care what others think or say because I do look hella good in it. :proud:

It is interesting to me how people will make fun of something that others admire. I have always admired your dapper attire and fashion sense. I feel more men should be more aware an interested in such things. Especially when they can wear it so well, as you do.

As for myself... Hmm...

O! I have also been made fun of for my love of elegant things. But usually, it is more telling of the ... umm ahem.. type of people who are making fun. ^^ Not exactly the kind of people I wish to be around. Even if some were my own family. Heh. :awwthanks: In the end, it all comes down to preference. No one is "better" than the other. Some people like to be rugged, others like to be elegant. Both are merely human expressions and ought not to be made fun of. Different styles. Like Rarity and Applejack.
