Why do you like MLP?

If it weren't for its community, I would have no doubt not watched livestreams of the show or even the episodes as they came out. I may have not even watched any season past Season 1 at all. I would have possibly never watched it, as I found it because a person on a forum I frequented had a Pinkie Pie avatar.

But as I went through the episodes these past few weeks for a rewatch, I know for a certainty why I watch it. It's not really perfect; the animation is good but there is better. The story is standard, it's not exactly ASOIAF. It has a children's narrative; as watchable as it is for adults the conclusion of most episodes is obvious.

So what compels me to watch it? To keep connected to it?

The colors: bright and happy. The characters: With a smile on their face and diverse kinds of personalities. The songs: Cheerful and cannot but bring me joy whenever I hear them. The message: Strong, clean and innocent. The atmosphere: So cute and I can't help but smile at many things as they unfold in the show. The community: an amazing, positive force unlike any other in which I participated! The community's own fan creations keep me entertained and connected to the show between seasons. Its websites remind me that not all—far from it—communities these days have adopted the 4chan mentality. Its diversity and the opportunities that lie within have given me a blessing: Friends, a chance to feel like I'm helping, and a chance to not only improve my skills but to improve myself.

That is why it is important for me to stay in touch with the show.

The main reason for me is the characters. The characters are all diverse, relatable, interesting, and very likable. Even if the stories aren't even all that complex, I'd much rather watch an easy to understand story with wonderful, charming characters, than a complex one with characters I couldn't care less about.

There's plenty of other reasons too though. The show looks really good, it's bright and cheerful, filled with color. Smooth and enjoyable animation. It's got great songs and music, good morals, an amazing fandom with some seriously awesome fanworks...Basically, this show's the whole package for me. If I got stuck on a deserted island and could only bring one TV show with me, it'd be this one.

I watch it because it's a show I love and enjoy. It's the same reason why I watch Game of Thrones, Babylon 5, and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. It's enjoyable, allows me to think on various aspects of it, and it's just GOOD!

Since watching the show I now notice pony avatars all over forums, where I never really paid any attention to them before!

I appreciate shows with high production value, and this show has shown lots of it. It just resonates well with me, like some of my old favorite saturday morning cartoons I loved to get up for.

It has everything I love in a cartoon, and that's all the reason I need!

I watch it because I think it's great, and (most) of the community is amazing. Also it's cool to challenge the social norm and show those people who believe the pink/blue syndrome who's boss xD

Everything I was going to say has already been said. It makes me laugh, and has such an innocent tone to each of its jokes that I just can't help loving it.

Well, that and it helped me through a very difficult moment of my life when I just hated people and couldn't stand social interaction because the world around me was corrupt.

I have a few reasons for watching the show.

First, the characters are truly unique, quite distinct from each other, original, endearing, charming and just downright loveable.

The show promotes and teaches excellent values, morals and principles. It also gives good lessons on effective and positive social interaction.

Finally - and this, for me, is the most important part - I get to do something with my daughter that we both enjoy very much. It affords me another opportunity to spend quality time with her in a way that doesn't involve video games or negative stuff. That, right there, is the best reason I think.

For me it is perfect world, that has everything I interested in. Beside this, it isn`t cruel, and help in relaxing, when you tired of this world. Unfortunately, our (I mean russian-language fandom) in the main does not adhere to serials ideals, so the most of us are too evil. Too bad, so sad.

- Really good animation that featuring vibrant colors and fluid, at times elastic movements

- Very interesting, multi-faceted characters that play off each other rather well

- The fantastical setting where anything can happen, including fun, interesting ideas with fantasy standards

- Good old fashioned slapstick and wackiness in the style of Tex Avery and old school Looney Tunes

- Can be pretty action-packed for a girls' show

"It's like I found a piece of myself I didn't even know was missing!"

How do you think WE feel?!

The animation is fluent, the characters all have distinct personalities, there is some pretty self-aware humor in it at times, and it just makes me feel good to watch it. The voice acting is really good and the songs are catchy as all hell. I wish more shows were like this these days.

The community. Where do I begin? This is the first and only fandom I've ever been in that has the most creative people I've ever seen. Just look at all the art, music, fanfics, animation...the list goes on. And everyone is so nice and non judgemental here, you can't help but stick with this community. To think, a show about colorful magical ponies brings so many people together. It's mind boggling just to think about it.

Also, just the whole concept of the show is intriguing. A magical world where fantasy creatures, for the most part, live in harmony. They live a simple day to day life just like us humans do. Not only that, but six friends go on adventures while seeking one thing: the magic of friendship. When you really look at the show, there is complexity there, development. Most children's shows don't have this element (no pun intended). They are just created for the sole purpose of entertaining young minds with little plot structure or character development. This show is not like any other, this show is pure storytelling. That is what many people want right? A story to listen to, a fictional land where people like me can escape to, away from the stresses of everyday life.

I am so blessed to be a part of this community, and I will be here for years to come.
