I pretty much left it a long time ago. Too many brony stereotypes, bandwagoners who joined after season 3, and furry pony porn. It's just upsetting and I see why so much hate happens more often now.

I'm planning to leave the fandom and stop liking MLP altogether on March 12 th of 2016 at 1:23 AM. I have my reasons.

that made me laugh. i like that.

on topic:

i am actually quite happy that so many here plan to stick around, even if the show ends :D

personally i dont plan on leaving this fandom, its just so.... "unique". let me explain:

while the biggest parts of the internet are flooded with trolls and haters, we bronies

have created a kind of haven for anypony who wants to be in contact with nice people.

even if its all build on the basis that we all like technicolor ponies but, oh well... ;)

i really hope this fandom has the potential to last. just take a look at those startrek fans.

that would be my two bits

My responses to some ideas expressed in this thread:

Once a brony, always a brony.

This summarizes most of the people's opinion of the fandom.  Just like some fans of old cartoons, some will never leave MLP.  However, the fandom as we know it will probably be gone within ten years.  The reason?  People will simply get tired of MLP, get tired of the fandom, or need to leave to focus on other things.  It is simply impossible that the bronies maintain their current levels of zeal for the rest of their lives.  The quality of the show will go down and the brony fad (as much as I hate to refer to it as such) will have to fade at some point.

I hate how the fandom is losing members....

The show is still excellent I mean come on people

YOU'RE MISSING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although I agree that there has not been a staggering quality drop yet, many others disagree.  Lots of people think that the plotlines are getting dull, the fandom is getting worse, or that MLP made a big mistake somewhere along the line (primarily alicorn Twilight).

Now for my own thoughts.  All of us will just have to come to grips that we will all stop becoming such huge fans of a cartoon that has probably reached its peak.  Although I hope the show or fandom doesn't decline, it is inevitable that it will happen.  The writers and producers will simply run out of good ideas at some point.  And some time after that, the show will end.  We'll just have to deal with whatever happens.  The party must come to an end, and we will all grow tired of MLP and leave it.  Holdouts will end up witnessing the fandom dying itself, and the show alone will have to be good enough if they plan on being a brony to their graves.

Well to be honest you don't have to like the show itself to be a brony (I personally think so), I know some brony friends who haven't watched a single episode (at least that's what I observed and what they told me) in the past two years. They just stick with the fandom.

As for me, I highly doubt it. Though I might not go like "AAAHHHHHH PONIES &*^#(%@*$^!(#!!!" I would still remain fairly passionate, maybe until Hasbro C&D'ed everything in the fandom.

Pfffft, what a bunch of liars up there ^

You'll all see, over time you will lose interest in the show. You just can't be a brony forever.

I will probably leave soon. S4 is really dull and doesn't hold a candle to S3 overall

Oh please. I'm still a trekkie, even though Enterprise, pretty much slaughtered the franchise.

I'm not going anywhere I have no reason to leave the fandom and no desire to leave. Some people leave because of the haters well I've dealt with them all my life so I can take the hate some people leave because of fear of their parents or friends learning that they watch a show for girls I haven't told anyone yet but I will soon. If you like the show or you like the fan content don't leave the fandom, don't let bronies die out and vanish into the Internet like so many other fandoms. So no I'm never leaving.

For my serious answer, I could see myself not participating in fandom activities like posting on these forums, but I'm pretty sure I'll always consider myself an MLP fan.

I don't plan to, but if I'm honest with myself, I probably will. Not while the show is still running, mind you, but eventually, I'm going to move on to other things. Because after all, Ponies may be fun, but it's not reality. Reality may not be as fun as Ponies, but it does have the benefit of being real and meaningful.

I guess it depends. It is entirely possible that some time in the future I may lose interest and cease to be a member of the fandom, but I don't think I'll quit being a fan. No matter where the show goes or what happens, nothing can erase the positive experience I had, so even if I cease to be active in the fandom and no longer follow the show, I will still have fond memories and take joy, and in that sense be a fan.

I currently have no plans to leave the fandom, but even if I do, I'll still be a brony.

but you can still take part in reality and meaningfull things and have fun, but still be able to like some things that aren´t real. ;)
