How will humanity end?

From natural disasters possibly wiping out the human race to fiscal cliffs desegregating and causing an upscale anarchic war... and forces outside of our control (meteors, solar flares), I've always wondered how exactly we're going to go down as a whole.

 

 

Being a huge video game geek, I always try to contemplate on the possibility of video game realistic situations that could occur in our reality.

 

For example, one of my favorite games of all time being The Last of Us. That reality is not as unrealistic as people think...

 

Could this truly happen in our future?

 

I agree on the Last Of Us. I mean, there's a disease that cats transfer that control mice's brains. Who knows? It might evolve to control human brains.

In the immediate future, I'm foreseeing a near total extinction to be most likely due to a major natural disaster like the Ice Age returning or Yellowstone erupting. There might be major destruction with manmade problems like Peak Oil too. I don't think we can actually die off for good, there's enough tech around to the point where a handful of hardy people could probably scrape through anything... But that would be civilization resetting itself and all. So I count it as the end of humanity as we know it, at least.

Well, if a country was to nuke another, they won't use their WHOLE arsenal, and would rather be targeting some specific place, with the fallout (FALLOUT 4 CONFIRMED) spreading to other areas. 

 

And you do have to take note that in the 60s and 50s the US and USSR could nuke them far more times than you can think. Thankfully, most of the world's bombs are deactivated, so we're not getting nuclear war anytime soon. China, Russia, and US have no reason to threaten themselves by nuking each other, and other countries, such as North Korea, Pakistan, India, United Kingdom, France, and possibly Israel can't really throw a bomb without getting other countries into problems they don't want. Plus, if they did try to nuke someone, they'll get nuked back. 

 

So yeah, deterrence does work. Even terrorists don't have the capability to create nuclear bombs, and even if they do, they won't necessarily have the sheer destruction of the main nuclear powers' bombs which range between 500 KT to 10 MT; chemical weapons and conventional weaponry are far easier to make. The worst has already passed.

 

Fallout is a very interesting game, though I doubt it would happen in real life.
