I got a question........how the F does Tirek escape from Tartarus in S2, and no one notices until now? is there zero oversight in this place? Who's running this place? Did he put some pillows under his blanket and tell the guards he was taking a nap for 2 seasons?

How about we just scratch that and enjoy a really cool episode? I can bring the beer.

Twilight in season 2, when Cerberus escaped: 

"That's Cerberus! He's supposed to be guarding the gates of Tartarus.

But if he's here, then all the ancient evil creatures that have been imprisoned there could escape and destroy Equestria!"

 

In the finale:

Celestia: "it appears he has found a way to escape."

Luna: "We believe it happened when Cerberus left his post at the gates."

Twilight: "But that was a long time ago. Why is he just now starting to steal magic?"

Celestia: "His time in Tartarus left him very weak. He has just now gained enough strength to use his dark powers."

 

 

It seems that Cerberus is the only guard in tartarus. 

Yeah, that's naive of them, but it seems to be the case regardless. 

 

Also, who's to say that the Princesses DIDN'T know about Tirek's escape? 

Remember, he was weakened. Couldn't use his magic. Ergo, I'm sure he couldn't be TRACKED DOWN.

Being aware of his existence doesn't necessarily mean that they could find and catch him so easily. He wasn't giving them any hints or signals.

 

If you examine the language the princesses use in the finale, they never explicitly say that they weren't aware of the escape itself. 

When Celestia was recalling the backstory and saying "seems he's found a way to escape", she was just briefing Twilight on what the others already knew.

As much as I loved this season finale I can't help but be a bit disappointed that the castle of the sisters didn't become Twilight's castle.  Now it just seems like all the time they spent renovating it was a complete waste.

This was a great episode. It's one of the more epic episodes where Twilight gains a lot of magic and she fights against Tirek. I actually didn't like this episode as much as Magical Mystery Cure. That episode had a lot of fun songs and it was more uplifting I thought. Yes, it's not my favorite episode.

In Conclusion:

• Don't blow up Twilights books. Ever.
• Epic battle.
• ​All major problems seem to be resolved with some form of Rainbow Super-Weapon. Thats fine by me.
• I now want to see Scorpan.

OMG I FINALLY got to watch it last night.

I don't think I've ever been this late to the party, but I had so much fun!!

 

Things I liked:

- Holy crap, Tirek's introductory scene was terrifying as hell. Cornering a poor unicorn in a dark alley and sucking out his magic in this demonic, high pitched inhaling sound as the adorable pony's eyes glass over... You know, FOR KIDS!! 8D Omg, my jaw hit the floor and I literally swore out loud, I was so stunned.

- MLP meets DBZ giant laser battle. I was cheering and grinning like a dooooooork. It was amazing.

- Loved the songs. Glad there was only two. XD

- John de Lancie's vocal performance. Top tier John, that was amazing.

- Discord confronting Tirek is probably one of my favorite scenes ever in the whole show. The aforementioned vocal performance, and ESPECIALLY Discord's attitude and actions. I had to rewatch that bit where he dodges Tirek's little laser by SPLITTING HIS HEAD DOWN THE CENTER and then putting it back together. He doesn't even flinch. It was just to most amazing combo of "OMG EW" and "OMG BAD@$$" I've seen in a while.

- Confirmation of my belief that ALL pony races have magic in them.

- OMG DISLESTIA FLOWERS EEEEEEEEE <333

- I actually like the crystalline, tree-castle. And the round table inside. 83

 

Things I disliked:

- Bleh, those Rainbow Power forms... I cringed at them when we first saw the reveal, but incredibly, they were WORSE in the show. What the fudge was with their ridiculous giant manes?

- I would have liked a LITTLE more clarification on Discord's actions. I can fill it in with head canon, but what exactly was supposed to be going on in his head? If he was legitimately bitter at being controlled, I would have liked more build up to it. If it was all just a chessmaster ploy to help out the girls, I would have liked more hints. But I really doubt it was the latter because he was so upset at what his actions had caused in the end. And it would have been nicer to see him bonding to Tirek a little more, because he was just so CRUSHED at Tirek's betrayal. I can believe Flutters trusting Discord, but I can't believe sarcastic, cynical Discord trusting a magic sucking demon he just met.

 

And that's it!!

It was really fun. Most fun I've had in a two-parter since Return of Harmony.

Really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see them try and top it. XDD

Everything about this episode is awesome. The fight was intense, and there were some emotional moments. A great way to conclude Season 4.
