  1. Allow me to say that I really don't care if Twilight wears her crown or not. Frankly, I'd be all for it if they just decided to expose the princess thing for the ill-conceived executive meddling it was and take everything back to pre-MMC (Though the wings they can keep. They're kinda cool)
  2. Maybe there could be an episode about Ponyville expanding around her farmland and Applejack facing a dilemma about whether to sell some of her land (hopefully with a little more depth than the usual cartoon would manage)
  3. I'd rather not. She was never an interesting character and unless they can come up with a clever way to explain her early-90s vocabulary, there's no way to make her sympathetic.
  4. I think if S3 had ended on a better note it would've been easier for me to go in blind. But as it is I've been so desperate for some reassurance that this will be a good season that I've looked at just about everything.
  5. And I thought you were smoking something when you said Applejack should die. Everyone knows you shouldn't kill people. You don't need a cartoon to tell you that. As much as I may rag on the writers of the show, I'm sure glad you don't work for them.
  6. Those caps look legit to me. It would take way too much effort to draw those yourself (complete with the screen fuzz) and they may very well have changed the title since the PR. I'm not going to jump to any conclusions about that last cap, but the fan reaction will be interesting to say the least.
  7. The obvious guess would be that they're trying to make Discord into this show's version of Q, a chaotic neutral character that is the good guys' absolute last resort for assistance.
  8. -More CMCs in non-CM-related plots, especially Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle -Dash showing more of her empathetic side -More adventure-driven episodes, but they don't necessarily have to be high-stakes good v evil battles -More thought put into executing the moral of each episode. Many times the show has ended with either the wrong moral or dubious means of getting to it. -Equestria Games special (Two episodes would be cool) -Better song lyrics -If they can make it work, maybe some unconventional CMC/Mane6 pairings (Scootaloo/Fluttershy, Sweetie Belle/Pinkie Pie etc.)
  9. Just because we haven't heard about 405 yet doesn't mean they're taking a hiatus. 404 is still pretty far off and I imagine with the late start and a 26-episode season they'd want to squeeze everything in as quickly as possible. Otherwise the season won't be over until mid-June at the earliest unless they've got a few one-hour specials planned.
  10. Consider Santa Claus, who's somehow able to visit every single Christian home with a child at the stroke of midnight in every time zone.
  11. I just don't like Sparity because I think Spike can do so much better. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash seem to see him as more of an equal than Rarity.
  12. It's a small town, akin to those scattered across the Appalachians in PA/WV. Population's probably no more than a few thousand.
  13. I think the most appealing thing about a Spike/Sweetie ship is that it's more likely to be two-way. Even if Rarity does reciprocate, it's too easy to imagine her taking advantage of him. Sweetie may be younger, but she's also more empathetic and level-headed than her sister.
  14. -The animation is smooth and visually appealing, something lacking from a lot of cartoons -It's wacky, but not to the point of overkill, and the sound designers seem to have a knack for knowing how to employ sound fx -It doesn't rely on bathroom humor for much of its jokes, which is rare even among adult comedies -Interesting, relatable female characters, but at the same time treats its few male characters with respect -Slower paced, but still keeps its extraneous scenes to a minimum, meaning a more developed and satisfying story. (I can't get into Wander over Yonder for this reason. It moves way too fast)
  15. I've never cared for the Sparity ship. It always seems forced and one-sided (which may have been the point). Just about anyone would work better than Rarity, not just Sweetie Belle. Though if the writers do plan on seriously hooking Spike up w/ someone, I hope they don't do it until they're fully intent on ending the series. It's difficult to maintain an engaging courtship in a kids show. I like the idea of Spike slowly gravitating towards the CMCs as a friendship in the show's final seasons and then hooking up with one of them at the end.
  16. I really hope they don't all get them in the same episode. It's a copout that avoids the reality that people don't mature at the exact same rate and makes for a far less interesting story. I think there's potential for a sweet resolution to an episode where one of them gets their cutie mark that they realize that they don't really have to leave the CMCs because their friendship is their real "cutie mark".
  17. It was Suited for Success, now it's Magical Mystery Cure. Just a dumb, rushed episode. For me Spike at Your Service is saved by the second half when the Mane 6 get involved and the episode is actually funny.
  18. 1 Sleepless in Ponyville - 10/10 2 Too Many Pinkie Pies - 8.5/10 3 Just for Sidekicks - 8.5/10 4 One Bad Apple - 8.5/10 5 The Crystal Empire - 8/10 6 Games Ponies Play - 7.5/10 7 Magic Duel - 7/10 8 Apple Family Reunion - 7/10 9 Keep Calm and Flutter On - 6/10 10 Spike At Your Service - 6/10 11 Wonderbolts Academy - 5/10 12 Magical Mystery Cure - 2/10
  19. It was a season filled with some highs and many lows. While I think Sleepless in Ponyville is one of the finest episodes they've produced, nearly everything that came after was mediocre or worse. If it weren't for the comics it would be very difficult for me to remain a fan after the finale.
  20. Ugh... I'm sorry, I hated this episode. A terrific comedic premise wasted to shoehorn marketing for a new toy. Most of the songs weren't very good and I counted only two real laughs. By far my least favorite episode of the series. I really hope they won't have to put out more pandering crap like this in the next season. At least there's still the comics...
  21. One of the CMCs gets their cutie mark. At first excited, they then start fearing that it means they'll have to leave the Crusaders and their friendship behind. I don't know how you could stretch this out for 22 minutes, but I've always thought it'd be an interesting way of developing their characters.
  22. Part of me wants to see the overarching storylines more thoroughly developed next season, but I know that's not very likely in a half-hour cartoon aimed at children. I imagine any kind of real relationship drama will have to be done through the comics, since they seem like they're actually targeting an older demographic.
  23. The problem with S.A.Y.S. for me is that it felt like a wasted premise. The central conflict would've been far more interesting if Spike were his usual helpful self conflicting with the headstrong, prideful Applejack. With the route they took, Applejack undoubtedly had the bigger beef and you just wished Spike would cut it out already. And after watching Games Ponies Play, I can kind of understand why Spike wasn't invited. He would've been a third wheel. It seemed the Mane 6 had the welcoming routine planned out for awhile amongst themselves. I know RD said at the end "too bad Spike couldn't come, he would've had fun", but I don't see what real use he would've been this time. Despite the nobility of his actions, there really aren't that many transferable skills between saving an empire from the apocalypse and welcoming a games inspector. I'm sure when they do an episode about the actual games next year Spike will definitely be there.
  24. I still say Suited for Success because of the terrible message ("Don't speak out if you want something done differently, even if your friend insists that you do.")
