Y'all do a bad job of keeping this place relevant when I'm not around :mlp_gag:

Onto that 2019 music baby!

Musmahhu is a fresh Swedish death metal band's debut album after a strong EP last year. Atmospheric at times, downright destructive at others, this album pulverizes through and through, treading a fine line between some old school Swedeath and something newer.

I wasn't quite as crazy about the new Festerday album, having never heard their older stuff before, but it's solid death metal by any means. Excited to see if maybe their next project sounds a bit more to my tastes.

And the new Quercus album, Verferum, which I unfortunately cannot find on YouTube, is by a band from the Czech Republic that puts out great, somewhat avant-garde/experimental funeral doom. Take a peek if you can ;)

*WE ARE CONNECTED*

Listening through alot of Voivod lately, I love Piggy's distinct, weird riffing and how ahead of their time their breed of punky, technical, proggy thrash really was. One of their prog albums, Nothingface, is one of my favorite progressive metal albums- period. Recommended for any thrash fans, and anyone who likes something spacey.

Two 2018 releases I seemed to have missed! Both fantastic stuff...

First is Svartidauði, an Icelandic black metal band. This album surprised me with many interesting cool moments in their iteration of dissonant black metal. Recommend it to anyone not offput by black metal style vocals.

Second up is Cerebral Rot, a U.S. death metal band that put out their first demo last year. Judging by the sound of it, you'd think this monster of an EP would have been released somewhere in Finnland in the 90's.

And for something classic- my favorite Slayer album:

Hey, guess what?

Sabaton now have their own history channel!

Watch as they discuss the inspiration for their smash hit 40:1. The Battle Of Wizna and how 800 men held off nearly 40,000 Wehrmacht for 3 days.

I don't always listen to metal. But these are nice. Especially Death's Album this song is from.

What evidence could be for a god? Because, if god can do anything, surely a lesser being relative to god, could still trick humans without fail if they wanted to. Which means, a being that appears to be god, may not be god. So even if god showed up in person doing anything and everything, for all you know it could be a demon casting illusions or your brain plugged into the matrix. Just because it claims to be a god, does not mean it is. Thus, there is never evidence enough for a god. Which means you cannot have an accurate reason for believing in god.

I don't listen to heavy metal so much but this song is really the exception to that. I fucking love it.

Hellyeah is definitely up there in the classic roots of some really influential bands.

Ah, the old thread is still here. Good to see that.

Anyone else stoked on the new Shadow of Intent that dropped yesterday? Them boys seem to be coming for the deathcore crown.

Perpetually in need of this album to come out... the Discordance Axis boys (minus Dave Witte :mustache:) strike again:

Check out a friend of mine's black metal project that just released its first EP! Support the dude, he's a cool guy and evidently puts out some killer tracks.

Promising death/crust from Estonia, debut full-length came out earlier this month:

Lastly, a Japanese death/thrash band that does a really sweet job of blending pretty crushing grooves, death-metal Flea bass, and technicality aplenty. Named after a renowned Samurai warrior and with album art featuring traditional Japanese art, it's pretty cool stuff. Really taking a liking to these guys recently, can hard to find all of their music on Youtube though.

Whoa! No one has posted the new Tool song yet??

I was pretty disappointed in the album honestly... sounded alot like 10,000 Days, but everyone was just playing on autopilot. Not really what I waited over a decade for, but it's alright. There's some cool enough tracks, like this one:

Lichmagick and Gotsu Totsu Kotsu scream greatness; thanks for perking up my morning, old friend.

It's been way too long since I posted some music here. But what to choose? I have to give props to the band that first introduced me to metal: the mighty Megadeth. While this song from Youthanasia lacks the power of their 80s material, it's arguably one of Dave Mustaine's greatest vocal performances.

But how about some modern metal bands I'm into? Admittedly there aren't many, but Gojira is one; a French juggernaut that truly lives up to its name.

Jon Nodtveidt was a psycho, but if you're familiar with the 90s black metal band Dissection, you know he was as musically gifted as they come. While this performance of Elisabeth Bathory is a cover (Tormentor wrote the original), he adds more atmosphere to it. Still one of my favorites.

Always been a Gojira fan, I got the opportunity to see them a few years opening with Kvelertak for Mastodon... great times, would love to see them again sometime. And props on Dissection, that's an essential ;)

Cloud Rat: a female-fronted sludgy grind outfit with some screamo leanings. Hell the fuck yeah. Been digging into their discog lately, only started listening to them when this album came out ~2 weeks ago.

Another band I've been digging recently: Lord Dying. Can't speak to their releases prior to this one, but their 2019 effort will take you on a proggy sludge ride... for Mastodon fans.

Can't let y'all get away without some really heavy stuff. Enter: Antichrist Siege Machine, premiere war metal and riff kings ... their 2017 demo is even more of a riff-factory than this one.

Been meaning to check that our forever, finally did. I do bemoan the loss of the Halo theme, but it's probably my favorite album by 'em overall. Crazy stuff... Hell ya Crispy.

The Hu album finally came out and that got me into Mongolian music, since throat singing sounds so cool. Anyway, here's some Tengger Cavalry.

Also I found out the Hu is opening for BABYMETAL near me in mid October, so I flipped out for like 5 minutes before realizing it was sold out. So that sucks.

But on the subject of BABYMETAL, if you're into kawaii metal, I personally think Necronomidol is a bit better.
