So, how do you feel about spiders?

Personally, I'm quite fond of them so long as they're not crawling all over me _{but who really wants anything crawling all over them?}. But my opinion on the matter is irrelevant so more importantly, how do you guys feel about spiders?

Yeah I've had to do that before. Just today I had to deal with one, namely capture it and put it outside, and he really didn't wanna go anywhere.  I would much rather deal with spiders than flies because spiders at least don't go out of their way to be a pest.

To be honest, I like spiders and any kind of bug or insect. My family and friends think I'm weird for that, but I don't really care. I was never afraid of them and only found them interesting when I was younger. Also, I have never killed one and usually would just leave it alone. If anything, the worst I've done is transport a few outside.

Oh. My. God. NO. Spiders (and any other bugs, frankly that don't maintain human life like bees) are the worst thing to happen in the entire world!! They have no right to be here! I SAY DEATH TO SPIDERS!! GRRRRRR!

 

Ahem. No, I don't like them AT ALL DARN IT!        Sorry for being such a Rarity about this, but I am not really fond of them. They sort of freak me out...

Well for Daddy Long Legs it's not that they don't bite it's that they can't. Their mouths are too tiny to bite our thick meaty human flesh.

I find them pretty adorable. Their multiple bright eyes and their small size what makes me like them. The anatomy of a spider is also interesting as well, such as how they can make cobwebs.

 

But of course I don't want to be bitten by one either. It doesn't help that from where I live, I get some of the most poisonous spiders in the world.

Araneae is one of my favourite orders, but I don't tolerate them in my home (along with any other foreign organisms). I hate it when I'm in bed reading, when I see one in my peripheral vision crawling across the wall. Luckily, they tend to stay out of my bed room. It probably has nothing to do with the fact that I'm constantly spraying down the floor with Raid to keep the ants out.

I understand they play an important role in nature and respect their right to live so unless it's a dangerous kind of spider (brown recluse, etc) I try to catch and release them outside. Although I admit I have smashed a few in self defense, pure instinct reaction when you see a spider crawling up your arm.

Spiders here are friends. They largely stay out of my way, the spiders here are practically harmless for humans and we're linked by our hatred against flying insects. I particularly remember one magic school bus episode being dedicated to spiders and the various trapping mechanisms they have.

I generally panic if the spider's body is around an inch large. HOWEVER, I also recognize that some spiders are directly useful. 

 

Example: A few days ago, my partner found what she thought was a hobo spider in our house. They are pretty poisonous, quite large and tend to bite. I took a closer look at it only to find that it was a giant house spider. They are bigger than hobo spiders, but they bite far less, their venom is far less potent and they actually keep hobo spiders out. So they help, but I generally kill on site if my children are near.

 

They are also considered the fastest species of spider in the world, so... yikes.

I'm really trying my best not to be too afraid of them, like the little spiders. Those are ok as long as they don't crawl on me. Those particular spiders with the huge satanist black eyes can f*** right off. The giant ones too.

 

What really creeps me out about certain spiders or arachnids are the ones that are aware of me. Their *looks it up* chelicera wigging around, their eyes staring straight into my soul. Turning their body in the same direction I am. Nope. All the nope.

 

I like Daddy Long Legs though, they eat mosquitoes. Because the enemy of my enemy is my friend :3
