Should the USA have a second Civil war what would you do.

Clone myself and form my own army. Our uniforms would be the birthday suit so we could distract the enemy and catch them off guard. Once victory is secure I will terminate all my clones and make America a dictatorship under me.

I'd sooner jump in the ocean and swim to Europe than fight a war against my fellow countrymen. I refuse to participate in that level of evil.

There's nothing civil about any war.  What a strange phrase.  The only war I'd ever even consider getting involved in is a war to save our species from hostile aliens determined to eradicate us.  Even then, I'd be about as useful as 'Tia against the smooze.

A 2nd civil war in america is impossible. There is just no reason to have one and fight one another. We already had 1 and I think we all know not to cause another one. If one did happen, I would try my best to stop it, if not I'll flee to Canada.

If America had a civil war, countries like Mexico and Canada would be pulled into it most likely unwillingly. England almost came into the first, who says the won't with the second? Other countries would obviously join in, countries like North Korea would probably wait until it's over then try to invade with how weak we'd be.

The entire war depends on what's going against what. The U.S has a-lot of bases in California, and if it was what we had the first time, South Versus North, the North has more military bases. The South has many navy bases, and air-force bases are a bit spread out.

A-LOT of bases, known, are in California, Navy, Air, Marines. Whatever side has most of California would have a huge boost. WOMD, or things of the sort, are mostly in the South.

It's fairly even.

Now say California wanted to be its own country. Texas did too, with a few states joining in. Civil war would be many states sticking it out for them selves and little pockets here and there. Most states would probably be at war with eachother, rather then one side against one side.

Then there's other countries that would get involved.

It'd be a huge mess in which both sides, if it was North v South, would find it hard to gain any ground and ending up wasting tons of innocent lives.

What would it be fought over, even?

That's my thoughts.

I'm thinking such a civil war may be pro-American vs pro-Mexico.

Perhaps as decades pass, more of Southern USA is populated with Mexicans to the point where Americans become notable minority... nationalism? There is feeling of southern states feeling more like extension of Mexico rather than being part of separate country; feeling of territory being stolen and needing to return to former country. Perhaps in such a scenario, there will be masses demanding a referendum... would the government grant that wish risking losing a big portion of country with economic importance? If not, perhaps there will be riots throughout much of the country, great divide between Mexicans and non-Mexicans, instability, Mexicans form liberation group, labelled as terrorists by American government, tensions rise to the point where country faces another civil war.

Do you support interest of the USA, or do you support interest of those wanting liberation but at great cost to the country?

This is based off of hypothetical situation I read about once. Would be quite interesting.

Something tells me one could in theory break out if the government did try to take guns away from people completely. Ah as for what I would do? I'd probably be the coward and jump on a boat to Japan.

As an american, let me start off by saying what the actual hell. The last one wasn't even a good idea, why would we do it again? (Come to think of it, what would we fight over, Marijuana laws?)

I would fight for whichever side I get chosen by, regardless of right or wrong. it's what General Lee did.

Move to Australia and hell I want to actually in the coming years honestly. I've taken a really big interest in wanting to move there. Seems like a place I would love to live at.

We'll call it the "War on Weeds." Americans all over the country will go to their yards and gardens to kill those pests with all the American patriotism they've got.

MY ROSEBUSH WILL NO LONGER BE FORCED TO SUFFER.

If there is a side that supports the constitution and the bill of rights than I will support them if not than I will not support anyone. Either way if it does get that far and if I can I will try to get the hell out of there.

well considering this will never happen it does not matter, however to answer this question, you need more information. like why are we fighting, in order for me to know what i would do I would need to know what was being fought for.

I am sure many people said Rome would never fall either but it did and boy did it fall hard, it is the "it will never happen" arguments that ironically make it more likely to happen because people refuse to address the issues that could end up leading to another one actually happening. There is all sorts of police state garbage going on in America today that could easily lead to a second civil war but thankfully it is still not too late to arrest and impeach these traitors before they turn America into the next Nazi Germany.

The Civil War also had clear battle lines, the Mason-Dixon Line namely, and was waged with two nations cut right in half along ideology that corresponded with those lines.

Actually there have been quite a few civil wars throughout history that have not had clear battle lines especially in Africa and parts of southeast Asia. And you are also seriously underestimating just how complicated the American Civil war actually was. There were a lot of different political and economic issues which lead to the Civil War with slavery only being one of them. Many people on the Confederate side weren't fighting to keep slavery but were actually fighting due to certain taxes and economic policies which they believed were discriminatory toward the south. Most Americans that supported the union didn't give a damn about slaves but just thought it was best that the union stayed together and viewed the Confederates as a bunch of backwater hillbillies.

I am aware it wasn't that simple but that is what happened, I was merely remarking upon how the union is not going to fracture along any of the current socio-political lines because they are not so divisive as to cause people to take up arms against their neighbors for it.

And yes, I know the average Union soldier was not willfully fighting to end slavery, but that WAS part of the Union's goals. No matter their personal feelings on it, when the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, the most racist Yankee was fighting to end slavery just as much as the most progressive Johnny Reb was fighting to support it.

If something like this were to occur. I'd do one of two things.

  1. I'd stay, arm up, and fight for Maine.
  2. I'd pack my bags and either flee to Canada or the United Kingdom and wait out the war.

Sounds like something Americans might do. A civil war over what though? I guess Americans can do what they want as long as us Canadians are not brought into it. Oh, and if some Americans want to move north of the border, we might welcome the boost to our economy. Then again, the housing market in the Lower Mainland British Columbia wouldn't need another influx of buyers and renters. Housing costs are already ridiculously high.

I agree, a civil war over what issue? What drives the civil war?

I know Texas has elected leaders who want to secede, and they would do so peaceably. My wife and I discussed moving there a number of times...secession would not change our choice of home.
