Would you treat a pony the same as a human being?

Would you treat a pony the same as a human being? Give them the same level of rights as a human.... and even be allowed to date a human without suffering hatred and abuse? Seeing that they are a sapient species, who can cry and feel just like a human. 

 

As in treat the pony with kindness, honesty and decency? Or would you go the Imperium of Man approach?

 

Imperium: Pony is xeno. Therefore must be killed or enslaved. Kill all non human scum that don't know their place, filthy animals need to be put in their place!

If they were canon, kind ponies, I'd treat them well. After all, they're sentient people, just in nonhuman bodies.

 

If they go for the Imperium of Pony Conversion Bureau approach, all bets are off. I'd either fight for a better future for all, or, in a nonviolent cold war, debate any anti-human pony I see into becoming a better person.

Well I think this goes without saying but of course, they're sapient species and even if they weren't I'd still treat them as human. Since animals do have feelings, therefore yeah I'd treat them the same. Though I suppose I would treat them a little better though that depends on how their personality is.

Short answer: no.

 

Long answer:

​The ponies in the show are designed to have human level intelligence. However, equal intelligence does not mean equal treatment. There are several other factors, the most obvious being the fact that they aren't human. Not being human means that if I were to talk to them about human specific stuff or do something human specific to them they wouldn't understand it. Conversely, treating them like an animal just wouldn't make sense as they are intelligent like us. So the only option is to treat them like a sentient pony. As for inter-species relationships; I'd say research into it would have to be done first to make sure that there aren't any severely bad side affects psychologically or physiologically.

I'm fonder of ponies than I am of humans in general; ponies would receive at least equal - and likely better - treatment from me.  And I'd side against anyone who would condescend to or mistreat an Equestrian pony simply because they were a pony.
