General Solar Magus 471 November 16, 2017 Share November 16, 2017 Johannesburg, South Africa, also known as the city of Gold. Jo'burg as we call it it one of the very few cities in the world to not be on the coastline. It is also is one of the very few founded 'not' because it was near water, but rather Jo'burg was founded because of the massive mining potential that it still has, which has yet to be properly exploited in my opinion. Jo'burg also has the famous South African tourist destination Gold Reef City. The three tallest buildings in our country are also situated here (although they aren't that tall, as the tallest is 223 meters). Celestia does not look happy about this. I wonder what's on her mind ........ (check my 'about me' for more )

KatonRyu 1,033 November 17, 2017 Share November 17, 2017 I guess The Hague is mostly known internationally for being the seat of the International Criminal Court, and within the Netherlands mostly because our government is based there. Oh, and one area of the city was known as the Pokemon Go capital of the country for a while because there was an insane amount of Pokestops there. Patty Thundersnow 4,163 November 27, 2017 Share November 27, 2017 All I can tell you about Taylorville, IL is that we're famous... or rather infamous for a horse dragging incident back in May of 2002. We're also for being the "Christmas Capital of Illinois", plus... our regionally famous restaurant Bill's Toasty. Macomb, IL my school home town, is famous because of Western Illinois University. 1 "Never give up, because you can't succeed if you don't even try." - Personal Motto "Anything worth doing has risks. Prospekt 11,018 November 27, 2017 Share November 27, 2017 (edited) There's literally nothing famous about my hometown. It's just a suburb of Denver. Well, the Senior PGA Championship was only a few miles away from my house several years ago. I got to meet Fred Couples (bonus points if you know who he is without having to look him up). But that was probably the most exciting thing to ever happen in that town. Denver is cooler. It's famous for its elevation of approximately 1 mile above sea level, its proximity to the Rocky Mountains and some of the best skiing in North America, and the Denver Broncos (who sadly aren't playing well this season...). Kaneki 1,073 November 27, 2017 Share November 27, 2017 Indianapolis is famous for the Indianapolis 500, as well as a number of sports teams (Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, etc). The Theme Park that started it all and became quite a success, despite its disastorus first day back in 1955. 20 minutes ago, Baby Dashie said: Bloomington Minnesota is home to the Mall of America. Actually, I've been to Minnesota's Mall of America and actually won a Ticket Jackpot at a game in the Arcade. In this game where you press a button and it drops a ball that bounces around and lands in a hole on a spinning wheel earning you tickets based on the number, guess what? I was lucky! I time the press just right that the ball went straight into the JACKPOT hole without bouncing around. The Machine gave me all the tickets it could spit out! Plus I had fun at the Water Park of America over there as well. Actually had fun on water slides, which I normally avoid. Well, what do you think of all that, son? Lucky Bolt 35,063 November 28, 2017 Share November 28, 2017 I live several minutes north of Daytona Beach, FL. They don't call it "The World's Most Famous Beach" for nothing! NASCAR, motorcycles, beautiful beaches and sunny weather is just some of what makes this place famous. I've lived here for the past decade (basically grew up here) and I don't think I'd ever want to move away. On 11/22/2017 at 4:30 PM, Star Mist said: I'm pretty close to 3 great racetracks in NorCal. Snow Frostflame 3,568 November 28, 2017 Share November 28, 2017 Nothing really interesting out here, just another city in a mess of other cities. Only really interesting thing I can think of is that this was one of the cities Sheriff Joe Arpaio watched over for two decades. I actually met Arpaio in person, he's a nice guy despite what media says about him. Sadly he lost the sheriff election, and now we got this new sheriff I couldn't care less about. I'm also only 20 minutes away from the Cardinal Stadium, or University of Phoenix Stadium as it is properly called. I actually work across the street from that place, and am thinking of working security at the stadium. But I don't think that counts since its not in my city. Here No Longer 5,276 June 2, 2019 Share June 2, 2019 (edited) My town has a brewery that brews a specific brand of beer that may or may not be named after the town itself. I think even some of you might know what brand of beer I could be talking about... It's fairly popular... Though nothing like Coors or Budweiser in that regard, I've heard people from other countries say they've heard of it... McFlurryMaddie 268 June 4, 2019 Share June 4, 2019 (edited) Mine? I think the shopping malls are what that makes my hometown famous in the first place.. And (probably) the architecture there as well. Through my point of view though, they're just triangles and a gazillion pentagons.. I think my hometown's also popular for its exotic meals that are simply mouth watering and the all-year-long hot and humid weather, making it a vacation preference for those who enjoys eating and hot weather, ohh, COULD you ask for a better combo? Hmm.. I just remembered something-- Kuala Lumpur is very well known for preserving older, more historical monuments and developing newer, advancer buildings at the same time! And also Putrajaya, the city in a garden! Spoiler Take the Sulltan Abdul Samad Building, for one! This is the centre of the Putrajaya City! Spoiler The Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest twin skyscraper in the world, standing at a magnificent height of 451.9 m and the centre piece of Malaysia's capital, Kuala Lumpur. (would you believe there's a shopping centre in there??!! ) AND COULD YOU SIMPLY RESIST this flavorful plate of nasi lemak? OHH NO YOU CAN'T anyways, I think that's all it's famous for. Although, im kinda not sure if "famous" is the right word for it... ehh.. (trust me, some people haven't even heard of it) Edited June 5, 2019 by McFlurryHeart
