Was Twilight Sparkle becoming an alicorn a good thing?

Personally I have no issue with the Twilicorn idea. I see it as an important character development, which was rather obvious fro mthe begining.

Celestia adores Twilight, and it was obvious she was more then just a student to the Princess.

It was going to happen either way, atleast by happening now, we have a longer time to adjust to the idea as the series goes on next season.

 

The in-fighting of the Brony community on the issue really should stop.

MLP:FiM Isn't just about the Mane 6, but also about the ideal of Everypony being Equal, we need to rally under this ideal and forget the stupid fighting.

For some people it's good, for some, it's bad... Personally, i don't like it...

 

Twilight has been put way to high from what she should actually be. The thing that bothers me is how ponies get "Royal Status". Twilight is nowhere a royal pony, nor does she have a royal bloodline... She's good with magic, i'll agree... But having special talent in something doesn't make you a Princess...

 

Having made Twilight a princess, the writers have made the show even more girly... That, i don't like. I can't even stand the Intro song, i don't like the thing where you can see hearts almost everywhere you look. Trains with hearts, beds with hearts... Come on!!...

At this point, I really, really, REALLY hope they do not do some cheap 180 and change her back. I have loved the whole Twilicorn thing ever since it was hinted at. Many reasons why, but I have given those reasons in prior threads.

Point number 4 is very true and makes sense when you look back on a lot of episodes.

 

As for learning about the history of Equestria... eh... I don't really care about any of that to be honest. I watch the show for cutesy slice-of-life, not deep storyline. If they can keep that up in season 4 and not have episode after episode prattle on about Twilight's royal duties and responsibilities, (I really couldn't care less about that stuff) it should be OK. Still not liking the change, though.

Think I really hated is how they incorporated it into one episode it would've been better if it was two. How will twilight see her friends with all her new royal duties? Idk, but I am pumped for season 4. Anyone know when it's coming out? I heard somewhere around september:)

Well, I think probably her change wont separate her from her friends, and perhaps she will stay in Ponyville with them. On the other hand, im writing a fanfic where she goes on a rampage on Canterlot (God knows why) and she kills everything in her path, even Princess Celestia. This means that, from my point of view, the fact of being an alicorn will eventually drive her insane.

I kinda agree with him, Twilight's personality is the same,she is still the one everypony loves but now a princess,and obviously she wont leave her friends behind (If she did, it would've been called Friendship Was Magic)

I think most of the hate is from people who are afraid that the sudden and drastic change with change the show itself. That maybe Twilight won't be with the mane 6 anymore. Personally, I doubt it. Where ever she is, her friends will stick with her. Even if she is in Canterlot, you know her friends would visit her often. But I think she will stay in Ponyville, while she learns how to use her new found abilities.

 

Personally, I like the idea, and can't wait to see what they do with it in season 4.

I actually don't mind the twilicorn but i know when the idea of her becoming an alicorn scared me at first because it felt like an end to the great show mlp: fim. I had to just keep an open mind and trust everything( the fandom, the creators, and hub) Nobody can actually tell what will happen in season 4 but we all will have to not worry about it and wait until the new season

actually most people don't really care, as for me i hate just about every aspect of it, people saying that its "no big deal" and "its just a pair of wings" are over simplifying it, to me it feels like she's now automatically better than her friends, and i'v never liked the "every little girl wants to be a princess" stereotype in the first place, not to mention that a bunch of people on different sites felt it was necessary to rub it in my face with all the "deal with it" memes and generalizing us as a bunch of whiny kids.

i think the writers are taking a huge risk with something that could easily buck up a lot of things i love about the show, i know that i should probably trust the writers, but i can't say they haven't let me down before

Anyhoo, I have seen this coming since day one have honestly loved every bit of the idea I mean, seriously...

She is Celestia's student for a reason...

Okay. So... I made a video about this "Alicorn" business recently. An excellent summation of my thoughts on the subject, and something I was eager to share with as many fellow bronies as I could. Posted it on the Pony Fortress 2 forums and was greeted with positive response. Made me smile on the inside. (And the outside.) Figured I'd do the same after I created my account here... and then I saw the discussion here and realized that the vid might not get the same reception.

 

But you know what? I'm posting it anyway. In the end, I made this video so it would be *watched*, and not necessarily universally adored. But if that still happens here? Hey, icing on the cake.

Incidentally, yes, that is me in the video, so now you can imagine that face and that voice whenever I make more posts on these forums. Also, yes, that is a picture of me bro-hoofing a person in a giant pony suit in the opening credits. That was taken at No Brand Con in Eau Claire, Wisconsin last May. This year's edition is in April, and I very much look forward to seeing a bunch of fellow bronies there again.
