It slightly bothers me because it's not that difficult to sound out and spell Sterling.

Jim? Is that you?

I was too tired while making this so I fussed up a lot of frames. Will fix if I can be bothered.

Everyone misspells my name. On the rare occasion they get my last name right they misspell my first name (which is Thom, and everyone writes it as Tom). By now, it doesn't bother me anymore and whenever I have to give my last name somewhere I just spell it out of habit.

I do get annoyed when people spell my name incorrectly. A lot of times, my name will be right there in plain sight for someone to see, but they'll still manage to spell it wrong somehow. Also there's the fact that my real name is also a unisex name, the only difference between the gender usually being the last letter, so I do see a lot of people ending my name with a instead of an I. It's especially annoying when someone writes my name as the male spelling when I'm sat directly opposite them and they can clearly see I'm not male. :scoots: There are the rare times when people spell it with the or ask me, "is that with an I?" and then I'm happy.

My last name also has a lot of various different spellings, because some peoples names end in an or even IES. Mine does not, but some people have an near the end and others don't, so I don't mind so much if people miss out that one letter, but if I clearly tell someone my last name and I do NOT say it with an or IES, I just get very irritated.

It kinda gets on my nerves... but it's rare that somebody will do that, considering the fact that I have a relatively easy name to spell. But, often, if they do manage to do that, they write or say a completely different name which does sound rather similar.

I often go by ToothpasteThy, and the problem most people have with my name isn't spelling, but pronunciation. I think only one person has gotten it right first try, which was Toodles on ACRacebest's 75,000 subscriber Q&A video. However the sheer number o other people getting confused has also made me rather used to hearing my alias pronounced incorrectly.

People always call me Kayla even though I'm Kyla. Also they spell it as Kayla. It bothers me so much. I hate it.

Some people get my name confused with Brianna, or Bryanna, but it happens very rarely, so I just ignore it.

My real name is pretty simple and easy to spell, so I don't have to worry about it.

I admit though, when it happens, I does get on my nerves a little bit, but, like I said, I usually let it slide.

(By the way, my name is Bianca. ^_^ )

First name, no. That's short and simple to the point that it's next to impossible to misspell. Last name, however, is a different story. I don't get as mad as I did as a kid when people misspell it, but it still ticks me off more than little bit.

Yes. Someone's name is an inherent part of their identity. To spell someone's name wrong is to butcher that part of their identity. You can at least correct yourself if you spelled it wrong.

Very much so. Its a fairly common name, and there are only two misspellings I have seen, and that bother me immensely. My name is Richard. I've seen people spell it Rickard. And then, the worst of all, Ritchard. It bugs the hell out of me because neither of those are my name... And people spell it that way.

I've never had someone misspell my nickname, because it is an easy one.  But my full first name used to be a unisex name with different spellings for girls and boys.  But somewhere over the years people started giving the boy version to girls so now people sometimes spell it that way.  It does annoy me because I feel like people should know these things!  My parents did, they named me after my great grandfather but were savvy enough to change the spelling because I'm female.

Not that I support having strict gender rules about names, but everyone seems to want to follow them so if you're gonna do that do it right.
