I'm looking to this show, I think it will be interesting to see the ponies of equestria as humans. It does sound like it will have a lot of drama though, which is why I can see everyone's complaining. But I'm a girl so I don't mind, but I prefer without. And ponies will always be better.

I have seen and enjoyed Anthro art, and this has led me to the ultimatum that Hasbro does not understand why anthro art is enjoyed, you combine the positive aspects of both species.

 

You do not combine an animal with the ugliest human possible to make good anthro art.

Nuuuuuuuu. They made them look so....... fugly. I'm sorry. I can't get over their blue/red/pink/yellow/orange/purple faces, their clothes (rarity would die if she were caught wearing that) and the fact that they still have tails. Although this has nothing to do with the show's storyline and stuff, I don't really approve of the art because to me, charcater design is very important as well.

 

And also the fact that Twilight's still an Alicorn really, really bothers me.

Honey, the EG forum is wrong. They were never meant to be made human. Theu are ANTHROPOMORPHIC. In otherwords, bipedal ponies. EG is being made by a mixture.of Lauren Faust and the creators of Monster High. Enough moaning about the tails and colors. They are still PONIES they just walk on two legs.

 

We can quibble over what the proper terminology is all day long, but that's pointless and non-productive. Regardless of what they are intended to be/should be referred to as, I don't like the designs. Period. P-u-r-e-u-d, period. The tails and colors just look... off, and the overall design just seems rushed and slipshod to me. They might end up being polished between now and airing, and the designs might look better when we see them along with a full look at the world they will be placed in, but for now I have no choice but to call them as I see them. And as I see them here... nope, not doing anything for me. Just not appealing designs. I think they can do better.

The problem with the High Schools isn't the drama, it's the melodrama. Good drama puts something that the characters care about at stake and convinces the audience it's worth caring about. Melodrama puts nothing of much importance at stake and acts like we automatically care. It's the amount of emotional investment that separates the two. If the writers want us to care whether or not Rarity goes out with the captain of the hoofball team, they've got to show all the hopes, fears, and nailbiting that lead up to it.

I can't guarantee that this show will be good or bad.  But for all the premature hate this show is garnering, I can guarantee you all this much.  Every person posting in this topic is going to watch the show.  And you know why?

 

CURIOSITY!

 

You are all going to want to know.  It's burned into your minds.  When the show starts and you go to watch episodes of FiM, guess what you'll end up thinking about.  You'll all be saying, "I wonder what Equestria Girls is really like...".  And that's gonna make you want to watch it, because you'll have to know.  It's basic psychology.  The seed's already been planted.

the voice actors are

the same and they stick

to the main cannons personalities

Yeah, I think this whole Equestria Girls is definitely going to hurt the franchise.  Taking "Friendship and Love" and turning it into a pre-teen drama is not a good idea.  Do Not Like.

Hrmmmm. I agree with the megaman boots being a stylistic mistake in my mind. I understand it's supposed to imply hooves, but having all of them the same height bothers me for some reason, in the same way all of them in skirts bothers me. I would hope for more variation, but then I honestly think the various ponies in FiM should have minor size differences as well when they currently don't. We'll have to see when it comes out.

 

Someone said to me that it was announced somewhere that this is actually to be a direct-to-DVD movie, not a series. Is that true? I can't find evidence of that.
