what do your parents think of mlp

My mom playfully teases me from time to time for me liking it, but overall; she doesn't care. She's watched an episode before, and said it was "cute," and that was about it.

My dad has never seen it, so I can't say anything about him.

My mom teases me as well about it from time to time.  My dad knows that I watch it and he doesn't really seem to have a problem with it.  Not saying he doesn't care, he just doesn't see a problem with it.

My dad gives me crap about it only in a playful manner. Although I think he is into it more than he leads on. I'm a young adult so he doesn't really care what I'm into as long as I'm not killing people or torturing children in our basement. He also knows I'm into trying and doing just about anything so he gives me all the opportunity to do whatever I want without judging too harshly.

Sig made by me. Surprisingly it came out somewhat decent.

my mom doesn't really care and she lets me buy the little figurines and shirts and stuff but my dad seems to dislike the idea and thinks that any association with this fandom results in being a pedo. Also, he refers to anything MLP related as a "brony", so for example when I wanted to put a rainbow dash cutie mark decal on a guitar he said "why do you want to put a brony on your guitar?" I internally lol'd

LOL, I have no idea! In fact I doubt they are aware it exists as a TV show (after all, I wasn't before). They are probably vaguely of the actual pony toys, but probably forgotten the exact name. They have seen my desktop but probably didn't think about where it came from, or what those 'ponies' were (not necessarily easy to know its a pony if you don't watch the show).

My mother isn't to aware with much about the bronys etc: she knows I like MLP. Think she's seen an episode or two but don't think it's really her thing.

My dad on the other hand loves it! I got him into the show and he's joined a brony forum and we're going to buckcon :)

My parents are extremely nice about it. My dad doesn't care, he just knows I like it and he doesn't question it. My mom, when she heard I like mlp she was interested because for all her childhood she had wanted a "Pony Toy" but her parents were too religious/ conservative/ old fashioned. When she heard that my brother and I like it she was mostly confused. My parents just accept things because they've already been through the anime, m rated games, K-pop (before Gangnam Style), and Homestuck culture shocks.

Wow I just finished typing this and my dad came in and said, "hey Trent I found you  some stickers. :D" *Hands me G3 stickers* Me, "...thanks dad it's great."

I don't think that they really think anything of it. lol. Neither my sister nor I played with MLP toys in our childhood (that I know of, that is!) and I really have no recollection of the brand before seeing somebody that liked collecting the toys on the internet (years before FiM). Anyway, that's my long-winded way of saying my parents never encouraged us to play with them, so they might not really even be aware of the brand, I don't know...

Did that even make any sense? I think I need to sleep. xD

For the most part, I keep what I like (cartoon, TV show, music, whatever) to myself, so my parents most likely don't even have any clue that I like FiM. But they do know that I watch cartoons and anime, so it probably wouldn't come off as too much of a shock to them.

My parents are baffled by it. They accept that I like it (they're used to me watching cartoons) but they don't really understand it. My mom did seem to like Party of One when she watched it with me, though. Honestly, I don't think they care all that much.

My parents do tell me that the target audience are young girls. Nonetheless, they appreciate the show's good moral teachings and how adorable the ponies are. Nonetheless, deep down, I think they're just tolerant of it haha. They don't like it when we discuss buying MLP dolls though.

My dad has not seen any episodes yet, but he seems okay with it. He doesn't make fun of me or anything. Well, he pokes fun at me sometimes, but it's all in good fun.

My mom has watched the show and thinks it is good. She even admitted to me that it isn't very girly. One day, she called me in her room because an episode was playing on TV and asked if I wanted to watch it with her. Of course I accepted that offer. She also pokes fun at me, but like my dad, it's in good fun.

So, my parents are really cool people. :)

I don't think my mother cares, but mydad doesn't like it that much. I have the ability to make fun of myself, so that makes it easier for me. Nobody really seems to care overall, all my friends know, and by "friends" I don't mean acquaintances, I mean the people who represent the elements of harmony in real life. So saying the two or three people who I call friends are now bronys.

My parents think MLP: FIM is a TV show... which it is. It isn't anything but a television show with a very large fan base. My parent's actually don't understand why Bronies get so much hate when at the end of the day, they're a fan of a TV show designed for kids which is just like being a fan of The Simpsons or Adventure Time.

I had MLP on TV one morning and my mom woke up and saw I was laughing out loud. It was a little bit embarrassing because she kept teasing me that I liked to "giggle to the cartoons," and every once in a while she would sing the first part of the theme song. My mom is totally fine with it. She knows it's primarily aimed at young children, but she understands why it appeals to me. We've had some laughs about it.

My dad? Well, he's probably in heaven now, looking down on me and wishing that MLP had existed back in the 90's so he wouldn't have had to endure all of the other junk I watched as a kid. My dad didn't mind cartoons, but he was biased for cartoons of his time, and there were only a select few modern cartoons (or any TV shows for that matter) that he was okay with. My dad was from the Midwest where he grew up on a farm, and he loved watching old black and white Western movies as well as other "redneck" things like wrestling and bull riding. I think if he saw MLP today he would take a liking to Applejack for being very country. Oh, if only. :P

Meh. My parents are cool with it. My mum just dislikes the amount of money I spend on MLP stuff, though she buys me a lot of it :3

My dad supports me with whatever I'm into. He's always done that though, be it with gaming, Transformers, or any other hobby I have. He takes an interest in my collecting of merchandise from a bunch of franchises, and he's always willing to take me to conventions and stuff. I do also know for a fact that he supports Bronies in general and is aware of and despises the closed-minded individuals that seem to hate the show and its fandom without a good reason.

Today I bought some pony toys.

Yeah, I was going to pay for them but she did. She doesn't really think it's weird. She is just scared that im going to run into a pedophile that likes to do 'things' to the ponies (Her exact words) She is overprotective lol.

I showed it to my mom and she liked it. If it makes me happy, then thats all that matters, basically. My mom is going to watch Equestria Girls with me soon (Ive already seen it but she hasnt) and we are also going to BronyCAN next month. So yeah, she is pretty supportive. My dad is not home enough to really know what it is.

They were always smart, cultured and comprehensive people. Though we are little bit distant from each other. Not too much of a family here, but hey!

They are psychologists too, that's the reason they understand the matter regarding the subject. They understood since the begining that I was a child with an excepcional kindness, who got dissapointed by his world.

There was no need to talk about it. They know perfectly that this kind of show gives me the required space to let my ideals breathe once more.
Because I'm an an Idealist, and when you are one like me, willing to find the missing white color in a world which is mostly between grey and black, you'll get dissapointed very often. You'll need an excepcional strenght, and MLP is one of my sources of hope.

Apologies for my english, it is not my first language.

My rents' are divorced so my Dad knows nothing about it and doesn't know I watch it, my Mom on the other hand, knows I watch it and thinks I'm somewhat childish for watching it yet watches it when it's on and she's bored.

my mom don't particularly like to buy me the toys but only because she thinks 10 bucks is super expensive because of how 'in the hole' we are because of my brother.

My parents are generally okay with it. I got my mom to watch some episodes with me and she said it wasn't the worst thing she'd ever seen, and she's glad I'm spending my money on MLP figures instead of drugs or something.

My dad is a little more critical, but he mainly just pokes fun at me, and I know he's not being serious. He thinks it stupid that I watch kids shows, but he's not gonna try to stop me.

I'm not telling.

It wouldn't be safe for me to wear a Brony shirt in my area (filled with junkies and drug dealers and hooligans), so they can't possibly know.

But what would happen if they saw my search history? :/

My mom doesn't mind about it, so its okay to watch MLP with her near.

My dad, however... I really don't want to find out. His bad temper and overly manly quotes scare me O.o

My mother is completely fine with it, she even thought it was cute! She hasn't actually sat down and watched it herself though, or showed interest in doing so, but I'm sure she's at least seen a scene or two at some point, since my younger siblings like to watch TV often, and I've seen it air a few times. :)
