  1. The question is what do we mean by least favourite? Clop has been brought up a few times, but that's just part of any fandom, and there is nothing wrong with it existing. That is not to say it appeals to me, but that does not mean it is a bad thing. Similarly I think someone brought up others looking too deeply into the show. Now as a member of the analysis community, I will defend it to its death, but I understand deep theoretical/analytical thinking about the show is not for everyone. Equally however, it never did any harm to any individual. Some may personally dislike it, but that is not the same as condemning something as being wholly negative.
  2. Objectively speaking, if an episode is bad, it is bad. It doesn't make any difference whether it was in a season surrounded by other mediocre episodes. As for Putting Your Hoof Down, Fluttershy's bullying/outburst isn't such a problem since she quickly realises what she is doing is wrong and shows remorse. The issue is the episode tries to shift all the responsibility onto Iron Will, as if it is his fault and Fluttershy is not in control of her own actions. No Second Prances is the worst episode for Twilight, and probably any of the mane six. She is possessive and manipulative of Starlight, trying to steer her away from Trixie just because of her own personal issues. Their relationship is shown to be harmful and extremely toxic, not to mention that Twilight comes off as colossally unlikable.
  3. For the problems that get listed off about why the fandom is the worst/most cringe-worthy and so on, for the most part they are a loud minority and there are as many things that are impressive about the community. Just look at all the creativity out there for a start; the fanfiction, the (good) artwork, the animation, the analysis. To think that all of this has been inspired by one TV show is both strange and incredible really. That's certainly something which appeals to me, and is more than worth it for all the other stuff. As for the show itself, it proves that you don't need to be dark or complex or edgy, whatever that means, or have "adult" content to make something that genuinely tugs at the emotions. Ironically some of the simplest episodes of FiM are also the most powerful (see Sleepless in Ponyville).
  4. I'm open about it, if people want to know. I think pretty much all of my friends and my parents know but I won't bring it up unless I have reason to. It's not that I'm embarrassed or anything, it's just not something I feel the need to boast about all the time. I was lucky that the first time my current girlfriend messaged me, she mentioned that I make YouTube videos about MLP, so I've never needed to have a big coming out moment to her about it. She's not a brony but she does seem quite fond of my Pinkie Pie plushie.
  5. Oddly enough I never cry, although I can be very sentimental. As for bronies I've never really noticed any difference and there's no reason off the top of my head why there would be.
  6. In most of these cases it is not the phrase itself that is necessarily the problem but the way in which it is abused. One I particularly despise is "don't take it personally", frequently used in relation to job interviews or any so called professional discipline as a means to somehow justify insensitive, degrading treatment.
  7. That's actually an interesting point, I hadn't thought about it in relation to technology. Technology has limitations though, and if magic or technological advancement is somehow going to help Scootaloo to fly, perhaps there should be some limitation, like she can only be airborne for limited periods of time.
  8. Dying down? Yes, it has been for a while. But as for dying? Well just look around and you'll have your answer. Look at this forum for a start.
  9. If you are using a pony avatar you should expect it to be noticed and viewed as strange, because it is. But if someone starts giving you hate about it, that makes them the cringeworthy one. If it is intended as an insult, they are only insulting themselves, and if it's meant to be an argument then clearly that individual is not worth debating with to begin with. Personally, since I generally use a different persona for non-pony activities, it has never been much of an issue, but it has happened once or twice to me on YouTube and frankly it wasn't worth my time.
  10. Probably be horrified, and then concerned, as most others are. To which I would shrug and reply "I make my own fashion".
  11. We have a cat called Colin, which is a brilliant name I know. Also we used to have two Guinea Pigs named Orinoco and Bulgaria (Oz and Boo for short) and two gerbils called Cheese and Pickles. Oh yeah and a white and black patched rabbit called Pongo.
  12. Another victim of the increasingly thick roster of side characters. There is simply less obvious story mileage to be had out of the pets than say a Trixie or a Starlight Glimmer, hence fewer episodes. While we're on the subject, whatever happened to Zecora?
  13. I love walking at night, especially if I'm in a reflective/sentimental mood. Being out under the stars or streetlights always stimulates my emotions. Me and a couple of friends used to do work together in the library on my campus late in the evening and then afterwards we'd end up stopping on a street corner and just talking for hours. It was normally getting light again by the time we finished. Sometimes I like to wander on my own as well (it's fairly safe round where I live). The only thing I will say is that it's not advisable if you have to be up early the next morning.
  14. Fame of any kind is not for everyone. If strangers slinging abuse at you and trying to spread gossip about you or whatever else is daunting then it will not be a pleasant experience. For me it is worth it for the attention and potential admiration which is the flip side. Of course I don't yet have a relatively sizable audience for anything I have done but I'm familiar with hateful/abusive comments and so on (one YouTube user even made whole video insulting me). For the most part I have grown not to care. It helps knowing that most of these people will never know me personally and if it's my pony alias they probably don't even know my real life identity.
  15. I'll feel uncomfortable or intimidated if someone gives me a reason to feel that way, not because of their gender. The only way I can see this being an issue is if there is social pressure saying that you don't belong in that group because you are not part of the major demographic, which is a ridiculous notion anyway. That might be the case if we were talking about female pilots or male nurses etc. but since we are talking about bronies, who are already prey to social stigma, plus there's the fact that girls are actually closer to the target demographic, it does not really apply here.
  16. To put it another way, if an artist thinks of a character as being particularly sexual, it makes sense that they would accentuate certain physical characteristics.
  17. Generally I avoid bringing the subject of pony up in normal conversation. I don't want to wave it in front of people's faces as that would just be kind of obnoxious. If I'm with non-pony friends I wouldn't even wear pony merch really. At the same time I'm not embarrassed or ashamed about it, so if pressed I will be honest and openly talk about it. Plus anyone who sees my room will soon know because of all the plushies...
  18. I do have some MLP clothing though I don't normally wear it out in public. Thinking of getting something more stealthy like a t-shirt with just the colours of the mane six on. Then it won't draw attention except from any other bronies that might notice it.
  19. What I look for most when listening to music is something not very quantifiable; emotion. There is no set formula for what makes powerful moving music; usually it's a combination of factors when you break it down. Anything that leaves me overcome with feeling I find irresistible, as an individual who loves to indulge in sentimentality.
  20. Absolutely fabulous! Curly swirly smooth precise purple perfection.
  21. Predictable can mean different things. If you know where the story is going that is okay to a point, but when you can pause the episode at the beginning of each individual scene and correctly anticipate exactly what will happen in said scene then something is wrong. On top of that the thing was repetitive as hell with the majority of scenes in the middle act being summed up as "Crusader X wants this, Older pony X ignores her and does this instead".
  22. I have literally been binge watching Friends to get me through the summer break, currently on season 6. I would still say "The One Where Everybody Finds Out" is my favourite episode.
  23. First one that comes to mind is Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep? My reaction was "I don't know what the hell's going on but you've got my attention".
  24. Requested review of Amending Fences. Had some thoughts kicking around about this one for a while...

  25. I thought I would be more unique in spelling it "grey" since that is the standard spelling for UK English. Certainly I don't intend to change how I spell it any time soon.
