My parents smoke, my brother smokes, 2 of my friends smoke, and the rest of my friends smoke when they're drinking. I have one or two when I'm out in the pub, and that's about it. I don't like it in enclosed spaces, or in my own private areas, such as my room.

I hope some people get the joke ^^

My brother smokes and I wish he didn't. He's gotten really close to quitting but cigarettes are really addictive.

I don't hold anything against him or any other smokers, it's just a choice they made and it's really no one else's business.

And I really don't give a damn about second hand smoke. I smoke weed so I'm not scared of a little smoke. I used to be really paranoid about it when I was little, now I realize how foolish and rude that was.

I hate cigarettes. They're disgusting and smell vile. I hate being around people who smoke, and where I work, I have to deal with being around assholes who can't follow directions and smoke in the designated areas. I've tried one before and it was the worst thing I ever put in my mouth. My brother used to smoke but now he dips because he knows I don't like cigarettes. I have no problem with marijuana, though, and I've done it a few times.

My ex smokes, so did my grandfather before he died, and sometimes so does my brother.

I absolutely detest cigarette smoke. I detest seeing smart people do this to themselves, and I detest watching stupid people do it around small children and people who have asked them to keep it away from them. I don't care why you started smoking. I don't care if it was peer pressure or if it's a way to help you remember someone who's gone, or if you think it helps you relieve stress; I don't care. If you're going to do it, be a decent human being and do it OUTSIDE and away from others. You wanna kill yourself? Go ahead, but keep that shit away from me, I like breathing.

And vaping is nearly as unpleasant to be around so keep that away from people too. Please and thank you.

I know that smoking is harmful and addicting. I would encourage people not to smoke, but it's also not my choice if they do or not.

I myself wouldn't want to smoke. I have asthma, so it'd be extra bad for me. Also, I don't like the smell, so I can't imagine I'd enjoy the taste.

you can get addicted to anything, I feel sorry for those who smoke because many WANT to stop but they can't, they can't stand to wait to go outside for a smoke break and they spend tons of money they don't have buying them, many many thousands of dollars over there life time

I had a spot on the back of my throat "turned out it was allergies" you know what the VERY first question the doctor asked me was? "Do you smoke or chew tobacco?" I said no i never have. doctor said "ok it is probably not cancer so there is no need to biopsy it" and it went away a week later

I see to many people dying and trapped by it to ever consider trying it

Preach it girl/boy.  I want to stop but it is so hard to.  *sigh*

Are we just talking about the generic cigarette/cigar/pipe? Or something such as smoking marijuana, etc.

I feel slightly indifferent about it. On one hand, I would prefer those who do smoke to actually be aware of their surroundings and where they're doing it, and I'd be completely fine with it. On the other hand, I don't see why people start smoking. I know it can feel 'good', but for all the negatives that appear afterwards, why? I don't see any reason to it.

I will NEVER smoke, drink, or anything else along this lines. I just see no benefit. I have a grandfather who has died from doing that, but suffered a lot before dying. He was like some biker dude, then the drugs, and smokes made him into a man who couldn't even move.

Sanji smokes, He is a Pirate, Pirates are cool.  Bulma smokes, shes married to a Super Saiyan.

I have and still smoke cigarettes, cigars, hooka, and Vape.   I dip Copenhagen, I chew tobacco, I have tried nearly every form of nicotine.

Now i rarely smoke or chew anything except for Vaping.

I started the Copenhagen Just a few months before i joined the Army, I started Smoking once i got to my first duty station, at first it was mainly to keep me awake, then it escalated....   I world go through around a pack every other day, but  when we would all drink i could smoke a pack before i even finished half a bottle of jack and a case of budlight.    I would normally smoke 2 full packs at least when i was drinking.  I also would go through them when i was driving.

And, alot of times id go smoke even if i just smoked one because someone would say Smoke Break(a smoker obviously), and all the smokers would go outside for 10 ish minutes while the rest(Few)  stayed inside doing whatever had to be done.  Needless to say the few got fewer.     Smoking was fun, If i had the chance for another try, i wouldnt change a thing.  Its made me who i am today.  ( i could be alot worse) (defintly could be better).

I wont say you should smoke, BUT there are alot worse things out in the world than Cigs and Nicotine That You DO NOT Want To Start.

For Legal Means

Don't smoke.

Smoking is a vile habit that has exactly zero benefit to anyone except those selling it. Smoking is responcible for the yearly deaths of 6 million people worldwide (480,000 in America, with over 42,000 deaths caused by secondhand exposure) http://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/data_statistics/fact_sheets/fast_facts/index.htm

It is the leading cause of preventable death is the usa, and affects even people who don't smoke.... and Big Tobacco actually profits from these deaths..... Its like if a company who sold a toy that killed and maimed people (including nonparticipating parents) and all the company got was a few lawsuits and were still able to sell the product and make billions per year in revenue.

My honest opinion?.... Its vile, its wrong, and dare I say people who smoke have zero regard for there's or other peoples lives.

It was immensely, 'whatever man, do what you want' back in the earlier parts of this century and before, back when everyone smoked, especially the Navy, military and wealthy, because we had little known research about smoking and the effects it had on the body.

But nowadays, smoking will kill you - we have endless research that proves this in dark, morbid detail. Not only that, you expose everyone around you to second hand smoking, which for a lot of people, actually does real harm to them. So in my opinion, you're a moron to smoke.

  • You're a recovering moron if you're taking real steps to quitting (regardless what method you're using)
  • You're a typical moron if you're an older gentlemen or lady who began smoking back in the day when we didn't know it was bad, and refuse to quit now because you're too far gone or are simply too addicted
  • You're a 'lost cause' moron to take up classic smoking in the modern day, knowing what we know about it now. Especially with really effective alternatives that can not only break nicotine's grip on you bit by bit, but can even replace that urge to have something in your mouth, blowing smoke, to help deal with stress - namely vaping, as one example

I took up smoking when i had no regard for my own life. I swapped to vape over a year ago when it became more available

I has asthma, so i can't smoke or I'll start spasming out. However, i've been around enough second-hand smoke to recognize it's distinctive stench that I learn to get as far away from it as possible. How have I recognized it without smoking myself, you ask? Well, six words: elderly male family members at parties. They tend to smoke and drink a lot, usually outside or in the garage where all of the canned sodas are in coolers, so if i wanted a soda, i tend to smell the cigarette air. T.T Then again, that's just me. On the flip side, now my nose has been exposed to second-hand smoke long enough to recognize and avoid it. :)

They outlaw beneficial drugs like marijuana but smoking is legal?  Wow.

I think it's just the cigarette industry paying the government to say that thier product is safer than medicinal pot.

I've been asthmatic since I was little. A few years back, I was hospitalized for four days due to complications arising from an asthma attack; the cause was that someone nearby was smoking the day before my hospitalization, and I breathed in some of the secondhand smoke from that. Yeah, I despise smoking for personal reasons and health reasons (namely lung cancer - I have lost extended family members who smoked to lung cancer as recently as 2007).

Of course, I don't hate them quite enough to push to get cigarettes banned.

I think the cigarette industry would be doing that with recreational pot as opposed to medicinal. The pharmaceutical companies have more of an effect on what happens to medicinal pot. Which would be odd because I'd expect the tobacco and pharmaceutical companies to try to sell weed, since both could make lots of money selling it.

I don't smoke, I find the smoke too disgusting (other than unhealthy), but I'm fine with people smoking as long as they don't do it right in front of me.

For some reason, I like featuring some of my favorite characters smoking, I find it hot and I can't understand why!

Smoking -> possible addiction -> even more smoking -> start of serious health problems -> Cancer -> Death.

Simple as that. Truly sorry if it may offend some smokers here, but it's the sad truth. And you know it already probably.
