Am I the only one disappointed that the CMC didn't go about searching Equetria for cutie mark problems, like the mane 6 with their friendship problems? I mean, the theme for this season IS Exploring Equestria! With the CMC doing it too, more places could've been covered, new characters met, at a faster rate.

Don't know about everypony else, but I did enjoy the new episode, and got the major feels from Apple Bloom's song. I can relate to her situation there more than any of the episodes that I've seen so far.

Maybe I'm just easy to please, or I just relate more to this show than I ever thought. And the Bulk Biceps scenes were pretty funny, though I was hoping for a bit more.  YEAH!!

No, you're not the only one. I would have enjoyed this route as well. Having said that, I did like what they did with the episode and there's still the chance they will explore greater Equestria in future CMC episodes.

I think it was a lesson about something that is common and serious but rarely acknowledged. I think that's why a lot of people connect with it kind of like with Amending Fences.  :sunbutt:

I felt sorry for applebloom. and her voice is amazing! oh and if you see diamond tiara in the background it looks like she stopped bullying ponies as she has another friend other than silver spoon. EVEN I HAVE LEARNT A LESSON FROM THIS.

there are two morals.

1) a friend in need is a friend indeed

2) never stop believing in yourself.

I was kinda lost at where the episode was going through the first 2 acts, and thought the episode was going to be a historic bomb, but the 3rd act I thought was phenomenal. I like seeing a brand new character, especially a male, and he isn't a complete moron, or useless in some way.

edit: not a fan of the song, but hey, you can't like them all.

Ya know, for some reason I was kinda hoping Bulk Biceps would be helped by the CMC.  I don't know why, but for some reason I think there was something there to play with that was kinda missed, and he's been around for so long that I think it would be interesting to start seeing some of these background ponies brought to the forefront.

Dont get me wrong, I agree with @@EquestriaGuy that it is nice to see a male pony in that's not a complete flank-end of the joke, but I think a part of that is fleshing out the ones we have.  We have such a large cast in MLP:FiM that I think they need to start asking if there is someone already in the cast of characters that can serve the same purpose for the overarching story, rather than make a new pony that is there for an episode and is never heard from again.

Just my thoughts.

Had to watch sober. Still very enjoyable, but it always feels like I am missing something when I cannot yell at the screen and take a swig from a bottle of red wine every now and then.

I commend the show's creators on addressing the prior niche the Crusaders used to fill and what they get to do from now on. There's a tinge of existential crisis when the characters try to find their new lot in life. That really is a part of growing up. And they have ultimately become the mane 6's junior squad, which is pretty cool : )

Also, Pony Andy Warhol. That's a nice touch.

This episode was absolutely terrible. Allow me to rant:

The CMC, who now have their cutie marks, were supposed to be helping other ponies find their cutie marks, which was made clear last season when they initially got them. However, the CMC spent a good portion of the episode searching through adult ponies who already bad their marks trying to find "dissatisfaction in their lives". Huh? Why aren't they helping other *blank* flanks find their destinies like they said they were supposed to in Crusaders of the Lost Mark?

And then it gets worse. The CMC decide they want to go do something for fun instead of for their marks, but it somehow evolves into Apple Bloom getting upset. Why? Because she didn't want to do anything by herself. But it quickly gets resolved when Apple Bloom comes back to the treehouse just to realize that the other two wanted to do things that they and only they wanted to do.

So it goes from the CMC being confused about what their destiny was (which was already obvious) to doing things on their own (which was unnecessary) to Apple Bloom getting upset because she was lonely (also unnecessary and was quickly resolved) to her thinking she has no special hobby/talent (which was confusing, since that has never been an issue before) to her randomly bursting into a dance class for no reason, to a suddenly convincing the "best dancer in the world" to go onstage in front of like 30 ponies to shuffle his hooves some.

What made this episode so bad is that there were *three* conflicts in this episode that made it altogether messy. Two of these conflicts were irrelevant and unnecessary, while the relevant one wasn't even true to the context behind the CMC's cutie marks, and only spanned a small portion of the episode.

I was kinda lost at where the episode was going through the first 2 acts, and thought the episode was going to be a historic bomb, but the 3rd act I thought was phenomenal. I like seeing a brand new character, especially a male, and he isn't a complete moron, or useless in some way.

All that happened in the 3rd act was the CMC bursting into the theater to convince that dancing pony to go onstage. I have trouble seeing that as phenomenal in any way; it seems like a lazy ending to a CMC episode in my opinion.

To be honest I have to say this episode is my least favorite since princess spike.  The feel of the episode was fine overall but the dialogue and the progression of the plot seemed clunky and sometimes cringey.

I agree, I think it was one of the worst in the series. There were multiple, unnecessary conflicts in this episode that made no contextual sense and pretty much ruined it for me.

My Little Existential Crisis, My LIttle Existential Crisis Aaaaah

Okay, I know that's not what they were going for and maybe it's because I have Philosophy on the brain but that was one of the main things that popped up into my head during this episode.

I found this episode to be alright, but it seemed to be a bit heavy on the Melodrama when it didn't need to be. If all of these conflicts popped up in 3 different Cutie Mark Crusader's Episodes, this episode would have been stronger by focussing on just one of these things.  From a writing standpoint, I thought it was a bit cluttered but the end results, while messy weren't bad in my opinion.

I really like this episode. I found the soul searching to be well thought out, deep, and well executed. Apple Bloom is just realizing the pain of losing childhood and Im glad the cmc friendship prevailed.

To be honest-mlp dealings with friendship teaches me, a 40 something adult woman how to be a better friend. This episode, ab being hurt, feeling abandoned, jealous is a good reminder to not take things too personal. Like pinkie when no one came to her party cuz they were planning one for her!

Also, why is the idea of travelling Equestria to help ponies with cutie mark problems immediately shot down? That's exactly what they need! How much can they truly expect to be able to put their talent to good use while they're contained within Ponyville? They need to be getting out there, even if they have to bring their sisters along with them. Those could easily make for some fun episodes for their arc, while also tying into the Explore Equestria theme for this season.

Exactly what would have made a CMC episode more interesting for me than.. the usual over and over again (hanging out in the tree house and doing something in the vicinity) even if the episode is showing some development after getting their marks.

--

Other than that, the extremely high expectation of perfection that is expected in episodes without a single small logic hole is... I cant understand it when reading some long posts. For me MLP is fun and I enjoy small moments or nice actions or not, dont pay attention to every microscopic detail. And I won't faint because I didnt see my fave char didnt do something or something somepony did went a bit off (I promise!)

I'll admit, I would've loved seeing the Crusaders go exploring all over Equestria for cutie mark problems, but their big sisters probably would not let them go it alone without supervision, maybe even being kept an eye on by Celestia and Luna as they travel so far away from Ponyville.

Always nice to see Bulk when he makes an appearance, and it was nice to hear the first song of Season 6 from little Apple Bloom in regards to her being upset at thinking the Crusaders were going their separate ways now in regards to finally having their cutie marks, but thanks to Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, their friendship prevailed, and they helped out another foal with getting his cutie mark and overcoming his stage fright as well. Not bad for the Crusaders' first episode of the new season.

Well, that was one satisfying CMC episode. Even if they have earned what they wanted, it's clear it's just the beginning for a whole new set of adventures for them, and it is good to see the show will explore that. That colt kiddo was a neat character too, a shame i keep forgetting his name easily. Oh well, i really enjoyed it, Bulk Biceps was amusing as always and Tree Hugger got a cameo! That's just rad.

However, going all over Equestria without supervision? I think that would be a lot more dangerous than all the shenanigans they did around Ponyville in previous episodes. It would have been wiser to send their big sisters to escort them, or have Celestia and Luna watch over them so they don't get into serious danger, such as what happened back in the episode involving Apple Bloom and that Chimera.

Well, the difference between the mane 6 and the CMC is that the CMC are only CHILDREN. Like Sweetie Belle said about what Rarity would think, I don't think 3 kids travelling Equestria by themselves,  just to find cutie mark problems, is safe at all. That said, watching Tender's moves, I suddenly want them to do a full on episode long parody of Singin' In The Rain. Y'know, have a musical episode that DOESN'T change the status quo for a change.

Well, that was better than I thought it would be. I like the intended message that you don't have to be into or enjoy everything your friends do and still be friends (which I'd swear they'd already done at some point). I also like when Applebloom was baking the pie (which, linking this to Fullmetal Alchemist, would be similar to potion making/chemistry that Apple Bloom should be quite good at it) that we see Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon enjoying their pie with another filly.

My favorite character in all this would be Tender Taps, since he's a likable guy and a pretty good dancer from what we've seen. And yes, I do now ship TenderBloom (AppleTap?).

I thoroughly enjoyed the episode. I think it was well paced, plus it was really quite sad. It dealt with loneliness and finding your place, even when you have a "cutie mark" showing you the way. It was great to see the girls pull it together at the end, although I wish that there was more of an elaborate setup that needed all three of the Crusaders to really help Broadway Pony find his courage.

I look forward to the next CMC episode.

Although I liked the extra detail they gave the backgrounds of the clubhouse and Zecora's tree. Plus Tree Hugger was in the episode. Trees everywhere!

I think that was the longest and most specific lines that Bulk Biceps ever said...I love that they are letting background ponies share more of the spotlight.

I'm pretty sure Scootaloo is going to change her name to Bungiejumpieloo.

Applebloom has joined my list of favorite FIM "they've completely lost it" moments.

Also that blue shush pony is the real hero of the episode. Everypony should be respectful during performances.

On a serious note, thinking back, I like that Broadway Pony's fear paralleled Apple Bloom's fears of losing her friends - they were different fears, but a way of dealing with fears nonetheless.
