Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Shankveld

Recommended Posts

Take your current age,

add 10 to it.

And then write where you think your life will be at.

In ten years I will be 29.

I hope to still be married and hopefully have two children and maybe another on the way (I want four children in total).

My husband will be out of school and practicing psychiatry and we will have a modest sized home of our own in the nice part of the city we live in.

I will be either working as a CFA or on maternity leave.

(:

I honestly have no idea where I will be in 10 years. I assume I will have a career and be living on my own at that point. Hopefully I will have a girlfriend too. Not sure about marriage or having kids yet.

28. No idea.

Don't know what I'm going to study in college, don't know what kind of career I want to pursue... I should probably get on that, actually.

Or I might just go wherever the wind takes me, I dunno.

I see myself as the president or the top 10% richest in the world possibly and I might decide to practice polygamy and have 100 kids or so.

If I end up being a bourgeois elite instead of a politician then I might just spend more time in developed countries.

29: Old.

I'll be making 40 thousand dollars a year as an awesome IT technician at a school. I get summers off, benefits, and I can change every wallpaper on the school's computers to Pinkeh Pie.

Yeah... It's gonna be awesome.

Still in school.

I'm aiming for a Ph.D so it'll take me a little while before I'm done.

That's where I'm hoping to be, at least. It'd be a good thing XD

28, I'll probably be married, I might have kids, but I might not.  I'll have a steady career in graphic design if I do well in college.  If not, I might be a car salesman or have something involving music.  And of course, I'll have a Cadillac, even though it'll probably be 10 years old by then, so I might just have a Cadillac XTS.

25, man I have no idea where I see myself in 10 years.  My hope is that I make it big in music, but also in the graphic design field.  TIme will tell.  Either that or maybe I'll go into politics.

29, should have a job after college, something in the oil or space industry, at least I hope so. Geosciences jobs are in demand right now, so I have a good feeling.

Kids? Only after college debt is paid off.

Hopefuly running a modestly successful webshow with my friends Mark and Dustin, maybe I'll even get on That Guy With the Glasses, being a pretty good writer and artist, finally knowing how to play guitar. Finally find a nice girl.

As for a job, I hope to work in a small, personally owned store of some kind.

Most of my life goals are personal, rather then career orientated.

I will answer in two ways:

Where I want/hope to be in 10 years, and where I most likely will be realistically.

I would be 26 years old. It would be ideal for me to be an aspiring author, animator, music producer, and everything else. I'm highly interested in all the arts, as creativity is something that I love. I'm pretty weird, so self-expression I've grown to like, quite a bit. I don't really know how much I would be making, because these kinds of things aren't exactly reliable sources of steady income. I don't need a big house or anything; don't really want one. I just want to have enough to have a few nice things, like a good computer to do my work on, things like that. I most likely wouldn't be married or with anyone, and I'm cool with that, I guess. It's whatever. I can't really think of anything else. My life will be boring, yet amazingly fun at the same time.

Now, realistically... I can't say. I can see myself either bumming around town with no place to stay, or dead. With the way things are going in school, I'll probably not be able to pass high school. I know I'm not going to change my ways, either. I'm too stubborn and childish. I also just simply don't care enough to want to take care of myself. I'll probably never reach the few goals that I have, but I guess I'll be okay with that. I don't really know what else to add. I'm most likely gonna be a bum.

In 10 years, I'll be 24.

I'll hopefully have gone to college and will have a Bachelor's by then. I honestly don't know where I'll end up. But right now, I'm dreaming of being either a professional songwriter/in a band, or a game programmer/designer. Hopefully I won't still be living with my parents.

In ten years, I will be 28, and I have no clue what I'll be doing by then. Heck, I can't imagine what I'd be doing a month from now.
I'd probably still be living with my parents, or I'd be dead from a bad acid trip, or I'd be living on the streets.

@@Shankveld, You always make the most thoughtful topics on these types of subjects...

I don't think I'm going to wall of text this one, the thought of myself 10 years from now is something that is better kept both poignant and succinct.

I'll be 36, just 4 years until I'm 40.

As far as career goes, there are two ways I could go. I'm working as an accountant now, so I could keep doing that and climb the ladder. I'm sure I'd be successful, I'm a fairly capable accountant. Currently working on adding the CFA to my resume as well, as a matter of fact. It is a handy certification. So, stability and consistency, which would be perfect for a family.

As an alternative, I could recover my passion and fire and try to launch a business again. I don't know. At the moment, I feel strangely content with the status quo. I used to be so crazy, coding all night, coding all day. Nowadays, I just don't feel the craziness anymore. Maybe I'm just burned out, I have a comical amount of epic failures under my belt.

It's getting hard to tread new ground in the world of software. It is too easy to pour tens of thousands of hours of work into something only to have it die right after launch due to legal trouble, competitors, financing issues, etc. I think I'm getting to old for massive failures. Starting over in your early 20s is survivable, but crashing and burning in your 30s? With your 40s right around the corner? Possibly with a young family? With aging parents to care for? I don't see how that's worth it. The heartbreak accompanying such a failure would probably kill me.

I'll probably aim for stability. I can always code for fun, like the work I do on this site. I don't wanna work for a Google or Microsoft. I like doing my own thing when I code. So, yeah...

Anyways... As far as everything else goes, I have this handy list.

  • I will be bald. I'm balding right now with no signs of stopping.
  • I will may or may not be married with kids. It isn't really a priority for me, so I wait for the right person.
  • I will have fully recovered from my hand injury (that should be in the next six or so months, actually).
  • I will feel like a relic from the past.
  • I will still play video games. (Pokemon games while in your 30s? Aww, yeah!)
  • I will still be the same smiling, happy guy with a bit of a chip on his shoulder.
  • I will be ten years older.

Other than that, I dunno.

For a start i would be 27 and, hopefully i wil have gotten used to this touch screen phone :D

There are a few positions i may be in by that time:

i may be a doctor, who is still undexided in specialisation

or still studying into a specialisation

I may be a game ranger - that's a great job, well for me it would be. Get to take care of wild animals *yay* and keep them safe from poachers (i dislike poachers)

23...

Photographer, lowlife, pony lover, dubstep artist ( for fun ) yeah I see myself as a country, nerdy, pony loving, dubstep freak photographer who spends his free time riding four wheelers and watching mlp.

Quite a mix if you ask me.

To be honest, I don't know where I'll be in life in 10 years, considering if I look at me from the past, he would have never guessed where I would be or that my life would take this path. And once I'm 33, I don't think I could conjure up a story.

There are some things I'd love to do be doing, but viability is an large threshold.Ideally, I'd be working for or have started my own video game company working on video games. Personal projects, things I wish to do.

If not that, I'd love to at some have done some form of serious video game commentatorship or something more editorial where I get to express how I feel about video games in some way shape or form.

If all else fails, a stable job working in the IT sector, either doing analyst work or coding work on IT projects.

Personally I still very much see myself remaining alone. But those aren't worries at all, things may change, although they very likely don't. Experience has hardened me.

I don't even know where I will live, in which country or the people I'll be talking to. So much change.

I'll be 26 in ten years, and here's what I guess/will work towards having happen.

Two years out of UCLA with a bachelor's in Audio/Studio Production and Economics (dual major, which means work my flank off). Living in a studio apartment in LA and making music for the world to enjoy, with a job in the music industry.

Where would I be at 30?

I will probably still be the gamer that I currently am, playing the 7-9th generation of pokemon.

I might be working in my local area as a computer software engineer or a network admin. It depends on how well my course goes beginning next year, but I'm sure I can pull this off. I can see myself offering my time to certain open source projects that are really in need of volunteers.

That's where it looks like i'm going in my current direction, but I might end up using my skills to teach at a college in the later part of my career. This is going beyond the scope of 10 years though.

When I am 28 hopefully I'll be living by myself in a studio apartment in San Francisco working as a programmer. Hopefully I can achieve this before 28. lol

Well, recently I just got into a fight with some guy in the schoolyard who was making trouble around my neighbourhood, so in 10 years I'll be sitting on my throne as the prince of bel-air.

Well I'll be 27 and I have no idea what I'll be doing for an occupation, considering I don't even have that figured out. I really do hope that I have more money in ten years than I do now....which really isn't that hard to beat, seeing as I only have like 50 bucks on me right now.
