The hate that this show gets is ridiculous...

So Netflix made a post about Friendship is Magic a little while ago and for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to read the comments section.

 

 

There was a deleted comment that said kill yourself. The amount of vitrol we get as a community is insane.

 

It saddens me knowing that there are people like this; people with hate that is immediate and unquestioning. But I find comfort in knowing that they are scattered and disorganized; that their hate is irrational and illogical. I see them, but then I remember all of you. Your kindness and acceptance. Your friendship and support. And you know what?

 

It's worth it.

I'm still a fan of the show no matter what, I don't care that season 3 wasn't better, or the twilight alicorn controversy, I enjoy the show and the fandom, and I will till who knows when.

And from my view, I can't really blame them. Once ago, I was exactly like them. Saying insulting things to the show and its fans and getting into arguments with bronies all over the internet. I was probably one of those typical haters you would see on the internet. Even one of my friends was a brony and everyone including myself thought he was so weird since he'd watch it EVERYWHERE and believed he was gay. But that was before someone told me to watch it and I realised I was quite wrong. So like others have said, many just haven't watched the show and judge it because of its looks. Obviously that doesn't apply to everyone. I guess.

It's only natural for people to shun what they don't understand. In this case, it's because we like a different cartoon than they do. So what? There are things that are worse than liking a show about ponies that don't get half the attention/grief that bronies get. For those that have given it a fair chance, and still don't like it, then that's their loss. At least the ones that have seen it tend to be more understanding.

Well... they weren't  When the basis of your argument is the intended demographic and dislike of the fanbase you should know your argument is weak. This is wrong, hurtful, and people like this are irreconcilable and hateful. As of this post, it's KILLING me not to go up on that page and start a rampage involving slurs and hating on everyone else. But I won't do it, because that's not my style. When I see comments like that, I just smile...because if/when they ever interview for a *real* job, out in *real* life, any respectable employer will simply Google their name.  And then they'll come across links like the one above, where that person is calling complete strangers "faggots" or worse.  Good luck with that job application, or any other endeavor involving interactions with decent people.

Comments pages are just not worth time investing in caring about. You can go to a comments page on yahoo, youtube, or cnn and see all kinds of stupid replies. Pony or non pony. You should've seen what happened when Razer posted a picture of a fan-made Razer OC. People started boycotting Razer, unliking the page, and one guy even screenshotted his Razer keyboard on eBay.

 

I've become totally nonplussed about all types of hate against the show. They're bringing themselves the dissatisfaction in this case - if it's beyond them to be acceptive of people taking a break from social norms, then their own anger is fine with me.

What else is there to say? People have had an un-explainable hate since day 1. They just hating on the show because it's popular and to them it's only over hyped  But without seeing the show and the community at it's core they fil to see it's all bigger than they can possibly imagine.
