Pony height and body size?

I pictured somewhere between those two images from Cutelestia. The "correct" one looks way too small to me. Even Celestia is too small to ride on there. Real horses are pretty huge, and if you take the Saddle Arabians in Magic Duel to be horses, then Celestia is an extra large horse. So aside from the giant cartoon style heads and eyes, the actual body height of the "incorrect" picture looks closer to what it should be.

They are called Little Ponies for a reason. they're clearly meant to be smaller than regular ponies, which can already be pretty small

I think this makes sense. One thing I was thinking about is that it makes a pony head about the same size as a human head which makes sense since they have at least a human level of intelligence.

Wow. I love the math that went into this. My assumption was that pony's were 4 feet tall and weighed as much as a human. Celestia was then taller than a human. But using apples as a scale just never occurred to me.

--brohoof for the great thread! I am really impressed.

--another brohoof to Fluttershutter for the great visual using apple math.

What gets interesting is when you apply the rules of the previously mentioned apple scale to the 8 ft. candy cane to create something slightly more accurate than before.

My headcanon says they are about four feet tall and their body is about the same size of a Human.

What size do you think they are in the show itself?

Of course, if one uses multiverse theory (fan fiction) they could be any size. In some universes they are the size of a Human, as big as Godzilla, or something else.

Well my own theory is they are about 4 1/2 feet tall, with Celestia and Luna being 5 feet or a bit taller, and body size, they all vary, but I'd say normal horse proportions for the normal sized ponies (not normal ponies being Big Mac, Celestia, etc.). I base this off of the size of ponies compared to the doorways for the buildings in Ponyville, and I would say the buildings are the same size as normal (human) buildings.

Well the first time I ever even thought about pony size was way back when it was mentioned in My Little Dashie, and if memory serves it said normal ponies were about 4 feet tall and celestia was about the size of an average real life horse. So I guess those are the specs of my head cannon ponies.

Do you like Ponies? Do you like Science?  Of course you do!

So why not put your computer's unused computing power to aid researchers in fighting diseases?

"But my computer isn't good enough for science!" Of course it is, any computer or laptop can run the program.

We can only determine how tall they are if we assume that the reference points in their world like trees and doors are about the same as ours. Four feet seems to be a good estimate for the average pony, or we wouldn't call them our little ponies lol. From there you can determine body size.

I imagine them being about five foot tall, but one thing about this I've criticized in an essay is, their body size makes them UNBELIEVABLY skinny for a pony. If a pony had the build of the ponies on the show, I'd feel like they would be dangerously emaciated.

I criticize this, because at its inception, this show was primarily designed for girls in an age group where body image starts to become a big thing. As such, I was torn over the fact that I liked their design, but disliked the message the design sent compared to the various previous builds of the ponies.

You could probably find their body size by comparing Fluttershy to her grizzly bear friend or Pinkie to Cranky. They're probably safe reference points. You can then find Celestia and Luna's sizes by comparison.

If the multiverse theory is true, then that would mean that they are any height at any given time, which also applies to us. However, if this is not the case, we have to find something common to both our worlds that has an exact height. I can't really think of anything, except for the moon, and how close it is to their planet. However, if it's not the same planet, that wouldn't work. Really, we can't be sure of it, so the best we can do would be to guess.

There's already a long thread on this topic using various objects as scale references, but I don't think a conclusive answer was ever reached. But here's a picture someone made recently, using Angel Bunny as a scale, in reference to human and pony Fluttershy http://cheezburger.com/7731915776

Which seems to agree pretty closely with the "apple scale", that they're really tiny.

Personally I see Celestia as a fairly normal size horse (i.e. huge), thus making the typical pony maybe 4 feet tall to the top of their head, or a bit more.

Hmm, I always thought they looked pleasantly not anorexic in pony form. Like Twilight's cute sleeping pose here, her hips are nice and curvy.

But I suppose real ponies are quite thick around the middle and neck, so they are still too thin in that sense.

The insanely anorexic look of Equestria Girls was (and still is) one of my biggest beefs with it. They had an opportunity to break the pattern, but it's just as bad as any other cartoon out there.

After looking many height images of MLP theorizing about the possible height of ponies, I could conclude that normal ponies are 4 feet tall (1.2 meters). But I'm still in the doubt about if an average man (with 1.8 meters) would be taller than Celestia, with the last one around 5.6 ft (1.72 meters) or if they have the same height.

I personally think that the first assertion (The one of 5.6 fts) is the correct one, but as I said: I'm unsure.

What do you think?

There was a tumblr somewhere where someone really went ham on the height and sizes of various characters. Let me try and dig it up...

My take on the average pony size would be around 5.4ft compared to human height, and a tall pony that's around Celestias/Luna's size would be about a foot bigger, maybe a bit taller (or smaller, in Luna's case). Then again, it's just my guess on it; I could be wrong though.

Didn't somebody do the actual height of a pony based on the candy cane in one of the episodes?

I forget the calculations and numbers exactly, but I think he found an answer. Based upon candy canes being a certain height or something.

They always look to be around 5ft normally,Atleast to me. I don't remember the caclulation the other guy did.

I put them at about waist height, or 3 foot 6. I don't know why I guessed that, but Ponies just seemed small, even In the show with no relative objects from the real world.
