What is the most original character you think you have ever made?

Basically, what character that you have thought of is based off of the least things possible?

For me, it would be a character I named Deotasli Va Gerphole, or less formally known as "Gaseous"

post-9228-0-90152100-1376423875_thumb.jpg

It is an alteration of an alien species I called Muteox. The Muteox themselves are worshiped by the Onesismeaga, another alien creature, because they are the only things on their entire planet that can produce the planet's atmosphere. Deotasli Va Gerphole is a kind of Muteox who combined two gaseous chemicals in its planet's atmosphere at birth in a way that nothing ever has before. The chemicals (sentousuw and opasdeun) came together to create a chemical which it called "apexquiluw." When one inhales apexquiluw, the apexquiluw melts down all the organs inside of the thing that inhaled it, and replaces them with a much more powerful and advanced organ that enhances the inhaler's performance in almost every way. When Deotasli Va Gerphole produced it, it melted down all of its innards, and detached most of its skin, leaving behind mostly just its skeleton. It wanted to be killed by the Onesismeaga, since it was disrupting the balance of the atmosphere. Since the apexquiluw made it so it was immortal, it was then taken as a major threat by the Onesismeaga. It became enraged when it was constantly being killed by them, so it went off into the nearest city built by them, and produced a poisonous and very flammable gas (which you can see in the picture above) that spread throughout the city. The poisonous aspect of the gas didn't kill much, but, even though it didn't know that it could do so, it called upon a Pterotaum, a naga-like creature with a flaming scalp, to ignite the gas and send it into a raging inferno. Once it returned to its place of birth, it noticed that some of the apexquiluw it produced leaked into the other Muteox, causing them to become slightly more sentient, and it drove them to shun it. Deotasli Va Gerphole then left the planet in search of another species it could bring back to its planet to convince its species to let him return home.

After a few thousand years, It went to Earth, found a certain human to do so, and returned to the planet, only to find it in ruins due to the solar system's star's supernova.

From the rubble that was once its planet came the spirit of a Pterotaum. The Pterotaum then followed Deotasli Va Gerphole around the universe with the human and his friends.

And that is it.

Do you have any really, really original characters? I would love to see them!

The extent of my interest is in things that don't exist.

Or, at least, things that aren't in the basic man's senses

Umhm, so far as I know, I was the creator of the first carnivore pony on MLP Forums. As you can see in her backstory she is a mutant that was created to be used as a spy on the remaning provinces of Addotir, who in turn created their own specimens.

Rubble is one, a 100% synthetically created creature that was abducted by cultists and now runs on magic rather than machinery.

Teek was the other, who was injected with rabbit DNA and then, after a second attempt to flee her home country Violi, was sent to Slavek to work before she was sent away as a slave.

I created a species called the avia, who are similar to griffins but...well, that would be a spoiler, and I don't want anyone to steal my fabulous headcanon for their story. Thus far Fallon and Reka are the only two that I have created (Reka isn't a full one; it was explained in her story but then I lost it when my lappy died.)

I also have an OC of nearly every species (the only ones I lack being a pheonix, a dragon, and an alicorn), my most notable being Seirian and Cas, a manticore and an ahuizotl, respectively.

Currently I am working on Slaes, who is a hemomancer and as a result has more veins than others, and Catchkey, a pegasus with a certain twist. ;)

I've created a total of four species but some aren't going to be released yet.

EDIT: You can see the majority of my characters in my OC list, linked in my signature.

EDIT TWO: OH MY GOD I ALMOST FORGOT. I am also incredibly fond of my OC Dyn/Fenyw; they're technically two people (brother and sister) trapped between two forms. That was fun to make, and I thought it was an interesting idea, though the story needs rework.

The shame of it is that I have some wonderfully original characters, but they're totally non-pony related. In one of my stories, I have a woman named Aurora Fitzpatrick. She's an Asian American albino with long silver-white hair, who normally wears protective dark goggles because her eyes are too sensitive to bright light. She's also a nutty genius inventor that due to her love of the "Portals" video-game, went ahead and invented portal technology! In the story she's also a HUGE fan of MLP:FIM! Aurora enjoys racing her bicycle up and down the corridors of where she works, because she hates going out in the sunlight. She's intentionally close to being a Mary-Sue type character, but since she isn't the main character It works well. In addition to adding a comic note to the story, Aurora is the love interest for the actual main character. Sorry, I can't say more that that. The story is intended for those eighteen or older.

My most original character would probably be this guy named Castor that I made. He's essentially an anthro bear thing who can teleport and is also a technopath. The enitre left side of his face his burned and he wears a mask over it. Hie also doesn;t have a left arm, which he replaced with a mechanical arm that can produce magic. I have other original characters but Castor was the first one that popped into m head.

Totally non-pony related, I have created several characters now, though, in order to fit into any story I write, I tend to re-define them and transform them into they something they weren't before. Though, luckily, I only did that to 4 characters, each of them special to me in their own little way:

Mark Stray is one of the oldest characters I have ever created. In fact, the oldest memory of writing this character into a piece of paper was when I was 10 years old. He was originally villain-fodder in the story who eventually became the anti-hero, though, still, his original fate, the one where he would suffer his demise at the ends of the hero, would still eventually come through, but at the hands of the Final Villain. Back then, my stories were really simplistic and a lot of the characters were one-dimentional and generic. However, as I grew older, the characters I'd put into a piece of paper were getting better and better. As for this one, it didn't really leave his "comfort zone" for a very long time. In most of my stories where he'd appear, he had a huge tendency to be the anti-hero. From a generic one, to that badass attitude, nothing-gets-in-my-way kind of behaviour, taken off from the likes of Vegeta and Shadow the Hedgehog,  ideal for a story filled with action (and explosions) this character truly gained a personality. However, I remember a few years ago he became the main character of something I wrote and his antihero-esque like character was dropped. The last time I used this character was for a theatre show I named "Status Quo Ante Bellum" where he, along with Albert Jones, was trapped inside of an enormous empty room where only one of them could leave, with the other one allowing him to do so. In here, he was a psychopath whose job was rather, well... pretty dark.

Andreas Wolf is completely different from the other 3 characters named here. For starters, his character was never changed, only the environment around him. He's been the main character as well as the narrator of a story (told through poetry) I wrote... 4 times. "The Lone Wolf" is one of the most frustrating things I ever wrote, mostly because whenever I write it, I feel as if there's always something missing or one out of poems just doesn't fit there. Originally, this character was supposed to work around a punk-ish environment, the second one the environment changes as he grows, and in the third and fourth, the environments do not change at all. "The Lone Wolf" always told the story of this character. With a low self-esteem, bittered in loneliness, Andreas Wolf walks closer and closer to madness (at least, that's what all versions except the first one tell) and he creates a character named Fleet, who takes over his body while the real Andreas Wolf is trapped inside his own mind. In the last version, Fleet is the result of everything Wolf tried to separate from himself, and he has now choice but to accept that side of his he always hated.

- Tanya Red is probably the most well-defined character I've ever created. Though, unfortunately, I transformed her several times and her 3 different versions are slightly different. However, the base of her personality is in all of the versions of her. In the first version, Tanya Red is a freckled, thin, long-haired red-head who's headstrong, ferocious and hotheaded. However, there's more to her than just this. When she was little, her own biological father raped her and she ran away from home. Living a life where she struggled to adapt to her surrounding environment, Tanya Red has a tendency to turn into a tragic villain. The second version, in terms of background, differs little to nothing at all. However, her personality is colder, calmer, composed and calculative. Also, her physical appearance changes too. The freckles are gone and her red hair turns dark, she's also smaller and more fragile-looking. However, considering this Tanya Red had powers related to fire, she could burn anyone she saw as a threat. The final Tanya Red reverts back to her original personality (though slightly-happier) and original design. Her background is replaced to one way, way more supernatural. As the princess of an annexed kingdom from another dimension, she was sent to Earth in order to survive, grow, become strong, and come back to avenge her kingdom. Though Tanya Red was an interesting character, especially as a villain, I'd tend to think the "hero" could not hold a candle (in terms of interesting to the villain), that is, until the last character came along...

Chad Patton/Spectrum is the last character of the 4. And to talk about this character, well... where should I start? The first time I actually used this character was for a theatre monologue I did, where Spectrum would be the nickname the character speaking asked be public to call him. This because his caretakers wrongfully thought he suffered from Autism Spectrum Disorder. The moral of the monologue was pretty much that a child should not have the mind of a teenager and be forced to grow up (by the way, the characters backstory is based on my childhood... yeah). Spectrum would vary a little more and more. For the second time I used him, I made him a superhero, mixing him with references from Goku, Sonic, Uchiha Madara, Tony Stark, Superman and... Rainbow Dash. To compliment his nickname I "forced" him to have a rainbow-like hair, just like Rainbow Dash. But Spectrum would get more transformations. There'd be one where he was called Chad Patton (which would eventually give him his final real name) and Tanya Red herself called him Spectrum as a nickname. As a character Spectrum became an obnoxious, arrogant, over-confident, asshole who at a times of seriousness would do the best for mankind. As a superhero, Spectrum often abused his powers, in fact, he completely left his "human" identity behind from the moment he became Spectrum. Without any intentions of hiding his powers or be humble about it, he is hated by some. Nowadays, Spectrum has become my mascot for every work I do. In "Status Quo Ante Bellum" where Mark Stray is in, Spectrum is the nick used by the person who has trapped the two psychopaths in the room. There are more appearances or "Easter Eggs" in stuff I do for theatre. Also, my nick in this forum is based on a poem I wrote called "The Rise of Spectrum". There's a lot more I could say about him, but, I think it's enough.

Mine was not a MLP character at all. I have 2, but I'm just going to list the names.

Marika Dragoslava: She's a strigoi knight working with her birthplace: The lands ruled by the Unseelie queen. Of course, however, she detests faery folk with a passion. She has a thing for anything sleek and shiny, something soft over her fingers. She's quite old, but because of her being unhuman, she appears younger. (age differences between the races) Despite her initial weariness of everything, she's very cocky, sarcastic, and can be very blunt to the point of cruelty. Though, she's only ever quiet if her 'mate' forces it. She's not inherently evil, she just doesn't care for people. She eventually comes to grips with them. Eventually.

Scarlette is a very angry teen, most of the time, very mad towards her mother, Evalynn. She's pretty much like a perfect repersentation of Bipolar. She's very upset over her poor circumstances she was placed in due to her powers. However, her anger tends to generate more so then not and makes her appear inhumane. She's very serious about her work, despite hating it and she's honest towards those she brings in. (I can't say more)

I remember when I was a kid (8-10), I would draw my own comics about superheroes.. However the superheroes were never superhumans, they always an object that was brought to life by something.

I think the most original hero I came up with was 'Danger Lap'.. Who was basically a human tongue that had a cape and could fly.
I don't know why, I was a strange child.

Have a nice cold pint, and wait for all this to blow over..

Well, I have several entirely original characters that I've fleshed out, but the MOST original would have to be... Actually I have no idea. They're all based on nothing but my own interests. Actually, one of them isn't even based on that. I shall tell you of this last one, since I'm not even sure how I came up with it.

Volatile the Woven, The Watcher in the Dark, is neither man nor woman, good nor evil, living nor dead. It is a dark archetype born of subconscious, and made manifest through arts and labors best left unexplained. I typically think of Volatile as more of a she, and that allows me to use pronouns other than "it", so there. She is between 5 and 7 feet tall (about 1.5 - 2 meters), depending on her role, mood, age. She's part perception anyway, so everyone sees Volatile differently. She is variously black, brown, or violet, but usually a dark brown from head to toe. Her ears are long, rigid, and vaguely resemble Chinese Dao swords, though I didn't have swords in mind when I came up with them. Her face may be slightly lupine, sometimes resembling a wolf's head mask. Her eyes are black with shining yellow irises. She has no gender, nor body parts that would come with it. Her fingers are think and end in claws, as do her toes, which resemble owl's talons, and rest at the end of equine cannons. Often, Volatile has wings extending from her hands, either batlike or black feathered. Her repeated reincarnations make her form constantly in flux.

Volatile is called The Woven because that is how she usually enters the world: woven into an intricate doll, typically with the hope of being used as a vessel for eternal life by her "creator" or a loved one, often a deceased loved one. Sometimes, though, she can manifest as a kind of flesh through the will of a host. This process drives the host completely mad, and Volatile is eager to manipulate her victim in such circumstance. Volatile has existed in the hearts and minds of people since before hearts and minds belonged to people. She is something feral and honest in action. All the dark thoughts and impulses of all creation live through her, though she keeps to shadows, and acts for self interest. She only wants to live, to be made real, and to survive. She is a predator. Good and evil are completely meaningless around her, as are time and space. Volatile the Woven is born of thought, sustained through flesh and faith, and banished through the death of believers, but never truly dies.

Volatile has been lurking around humanity since the beginning of time. Ancients learned to commune with the watcher in the dark through the eyes of wolves and lions. Though any predator will do, wolves and cats are closest to her core. Look into the eyes of a dog or cat, and, should they deign to grant you audience, you will see the golden glimmer of the watcher. You may commune with Volatile in this way, and Volatile will answer with a whisper in your mind. You may not hear anything at all, but the dark and primal thought that comes to you is the answer you sought.

She may be seen if your mind is open. Superstitions are perfect catalysts for her passage, and full moons are her sabbath, as ferocity and insanity are her domain. Children are most open, and so most likely to see her. When you were young, you may have heard a whispering at the window. You could have crawled out that same window, but there would have been nobody there. Still, even nobody may be seen out of the corner of the eye. Did you see a long-eared shadow? Did you see a glimmer of gold? Did you feel frosty breath on your neck? If you ever experienced this, you may have been one of the favorites. Be glad that that tall shadow lost interest. Children are led away, never to return. She survives on faith. Without the fear and certainty that something is there, she is just a twinkle of thought. The children make her manifest, so she befriends them or torments them, whichever is more effective.

You may see it yet. It is the gaze that greets you in the dark, the shadow that watches in a dream, the whisper at the back of your mind, and the child who was never seen again. You may even recognize the glint in the eyes of your friends and family, those you love the most, for that is where it dwells. If it gives you its favor, be courteous. Do not smile, for it knows the true meaning of a grin. Whatever you do, remember who you are. If you fail in this, you will experience the glory of being thought on the wind, never to regain the life stolen. The Watcher is life without life, and its freedom is death without death.

Cyphyon.

Go to sototallybro.tumblr.com to see a picture of him.

He's evolved quite a bit over the years, I must say. This is definitely the peak of his "scariness". He doesn't have a complete backstory yet because I had to change it, due to the fact that the original backstory was awful.

Melisende (Amalric) de Roqueford : A female outcast living with her adopted outcast family, all males. She undertakes the king's quest to try and prove to herself, the outcasts and the people of the near by village that outcasts sometimes aren't that different.

or of course Chief Sidney Benson (and all his likenesses) I love that guy xD

I haven't the most original characters, but back when MLP was in G3 and I was a kid, I created this whole little story about these ponies who have to live in a world without males.

Sort of...that's what they...you know...thought.

It's this whole thing!  Over the years, I pretty much have 6 books worth of this stuff all because of G3 of MLP.  But they changed from ponies to weird anthro things.  And the other species in their whole are anthro things too.

Um...

It sounds weird...but...its...cool...

It's hard to explain really.  It's very complex.

I have some really good art of it, but I haven't scanned any of it.  xD

The most original one... That's really difficult to answer. One of my characters is upside down, because his “gravity” works differently, because he is from the “mirrored” world. Magic was common in his original world, so he learned to walk in the air. The funny aspect about him is, that his magic abilities grow stronger in each game. In the second game he walks normally on the ground, but his hair still falls up. And in the third one he can walk completely normal on the ground. Well, at least he pretends to, he can't just change his own “gravity”. At one point he fell asleep and he was not able to control his magic in this state. When he woke up, he realized almost fell in the space! He had to jump all the way back to the ground, because his magic created invisible platforms below his feet. Even so he could have died, he was pretty nonchalant about that incident.

I have this one character for a manga called Kinnikuman, basically it's a wrestling sports manga with a species that's called Choujin or superhumans in the English translation of Kinnikuman Nisei(the second series after the original, it's all the kids of the original characters and most consider it a "reboot" of the series but these days the creators don't consider it canon because they're now focusing on the first of the series, Kinnikuman and are focusing more on world building and the history of the Choujin race).  I can never decide her name though, she isn't a choujin but a member of a different race that I made up.  I've got most of her backstory set up and how she fits into the over-arching plot of Kinnikuman but right now she's doing her own thing since there's this whole thing going on with Satan and I think her story and how it intertwines with the canon ended with one of the other arcs.

In older arcs, she typically stayed with the Akuma Choujin and helped them since she doesn't really like the Justice Choujin.  She'll tolerate them but she finds their ideals to be too black/white and her species REALLY doesn't like the Muscle family, it's such an old feud that no one really remembers how it started but the females of her species have really strong senses of smell so I think it's partially because her species doesn't like the smell of anyone from the Muscle family(species?  Idk, it's never specified but they're choujin), they find it very repulsive and it makes them kinda mad sometimes.

Her species is more matriarchal to reflect the patriarchal choujin species.  My headcanon is that the Choujin Gods and the Mother Goddesses of her species used to be allies but they had a drifting apart.  The Choujin Gods and the Mother Goddesses created their respective species around the same time but with the crap that happened with the Choujin and the Choujin Gods(the mass genocide the Gods inflicted on their subjects millions of years ago), the Species from the Mother Goddesses advanced much quicker.  It's kinda like comparing Wakanda with the rest of Earth from Marvel.  Like the Choujin, the species made by the Mother Goddesses were made for combat and bred to be stronger.  While the Justice Choujin's strongest are 10 million(Suguru being around 100 million with the power of friendship), my species weakest are around 150 million with the demi gods the Mother Goddesses made as avatars of their wills being around 750 million.

Typically, this species can't breed with other races, they're infertile with everyone but themselves.  The Mother Goddesses made them intentionally this way with the exception of the demi gods but no one really knows that.  My character is actually the granddaughter of one of these demi gods and The Man, a Choujin God who rejected Godhood to help the Choujin during the mass genocide millions of years ago.  She didn't know that she was part Choujin because the demi god who had her mother is known to be with many different men so it was mostly "Who's the father?  Does it matter???" and a massive shrug.

Sorry for the lore dump, I'm still trying to figure out a good name for this species and especially the name of my character.  Also, I like to think of her as my Mary Sue of the series but at the same time she's kind of an anti-hero, if that makes sense?  She's bossy and crude yet knows when to be compassionate towards others, I like to think of her as a steely rose?

I won’t give away the name just yet but I made an original human (not related to ponies or anything else) that I’m developing a story for. I also made all the other characters as well. When I feel confident enough I’ll reveal them.

But as far as pony OCs I think my gray stallion Granite Rose is the most original. I had a lot of time to fully develop him through roleplays and his own story.
