Gilda the Griffon: Your Opinion on her Past and Future in MLP

I don't hate Gilda, like most of the fandom (Cos, she yelled at Fluttershi! Nopony else does that! Nopony!), it seems. At the same time though, she served her purpose, and her defeat provides a good lesson. Having her come back would ruin that. Having Trixie come back worked, because the lesson Boast Busters was trying to show wasn't well done, and her coming back, even more powerful shows how enemies can get better then you, and you shouldn't try to make them. Discord's was... Pandering, as everyone likes him. Neither of these apply to Gilda, so I can't say I really care.

Well I wouldn't be against it, but I'm not dieing for it exactly, I just wasn't grabbed by Gilda really in her episode I guess.

 

It was a good episode, I just dunno if Gilda was one of those I really had a desire to come back.

I don't hate Gilda at all but, I wouldn't want to see her back since she had her spotlight and purpose in her episode. There is a thing that comes to mind is if a character have served their purpose and was defeated then they don't need to return. She was better off not coming back but, she had her time.

Nope. I've expressed on numerous occasions why Gilda should come back. I would have far preferred her returning than Trixie (though the amulet duel episode was quite awesome regardless). To quote me from elsewhere:

 

Gilda is a very unique character, not only in species but also in the fact that she's basically the only main connection to Rainbow Dash's past that we're aware of, other than the Flight Camp flashback where Dash Rainboomed, and got all of her soon-to-be friends their cutie marks. I personally wouldn't mind Gilda returning and being an instrument used to explain Dash's past a little bit more.

Perhaps for a episode for the return of Gilda, instead of having the episode take place in the present, the whole episode takes place back when Rainbow Dash and Gilda were younger at their school. Have some nice backstory. Plus, who wouldn't want a whole episode with younger Rainbow Dash and Gilda? So cute! I don't even know if a brony could watch the episode without dying or at least passing out from the adorableness.

I'd like for her to return, but only if they do something interesting with her.

 

I haven't been able to find it, but last year, EQD posted a fan-made manga where Gilda reappears in town, but she doesn't challenge Dash or anything; she just assumes they're still friends, exactly like they were before she stormed out. She's still her aggressive, 90's-talking self, though, and Dash is still peeved. Kind of a neat way to go about it.

 

Just don't make her a cheap villain like in Magic Duel.

It's not just that, she did a ton of rotten things in that episode. Like not letting Pinkie Pie hang out, crashing her helicopter and then acting like everything is fine in front of RD, stealing, and all the little things she did that shows she just has a general disregard for other people.

Oh, yes like Trixie has never been rude to anybody. Like taking over the entire town.   Yet, most people enjoy her. 

By spouting a bunch of lies, kicking Twilight out of town, forcing ponies to do things they would rather not do. Trixie is worse than Gilda yet people LOVE her. It's not really fair, in my opinion.

I was just comparing her to Trixie since, for some reason, she reminds me of her, I have no idea why though. I know but being showed up is no reason for trying to take over an entire town.   We, most likely will never get to learn about her backstory. MLP is pretty bad at backstories, it seems. I always thought people hated third person, I guess I was wrong on that part. I mainly like her because she doesn't really have any friends, now. Plus, I like her overall design and voice. I'm not a fan of Trixie either, in all honesty. I'm still hoping we get an episode on her, especially a backstory episode, maybe to explain some things.

I'd like to see Gilda again. But if that's not possible for some reason, I'd like to see more of the land she comes from. I want to know how her species relate to the ponies and how their governments interact.

 

But if I get to see Gilda again, that'd be neat, and I don't think it's impossible. She left in almost the same situation as Trixie in Boast Busters.

Well your definitely not the only one! I know plenty of people on here who want to see Gilda return. I think it would be cool......maybe in the future. 

 

I'm pretty curious about where phoenixes actually come from. Plus, Gilda was a good villain for the episode, and maybe she could come back with her new phoenix friends she made to come get revenge and bully the ponies. Hey, it'd probably make a good episode plot, or at least something with Gilda again.  

 

But yeah, hopefully we'll see her in the future, if we can see Trixie, I'm pretty sure we can see Gilda in the future as well!

Yes there is such a thing as fake friends and yes Gilda took things a bit far but Pinkie Pie was just as much to blame and Twilight was perfectly reasonable until she made that remark about Gilda being a "false friend" when she dosen't even know her. Gillda gets all the blame while the ponies get off scott free, what the hell kind of lesson is that?

I disagree with that. It was not just as much Pinkie's fault, Gilda essentially almost killed Pinkie just because she was getting on her nerves when she first appeared. She popped Pinkie's balloons and broke her flying machine, which both could've led to her falling to her death. She also scared the crap out of Granny Smith, stole food, yelled at Fluttershy, and was rude the whole time at the party.  Gilda was a very mean griffon, and I don't fault Twilight for saying Gilda was a false fried. After all, Rainbow knows Gilda very well, and if she rejects Gilda as her friend, then I don't see how Twilight could be wrong about Gilda.

 

Even so, I love Gilda, and want her to come back. Preferably with Lightning Dust. I just keep picturing those two together for some reason, I guess since they both were Rainbow Dash's friends and then turned out to be jerks.

Yes, I do realize that. I understand entirely. I do know some people count her as a villain, I myself don't, but some do. I, overall, didn't like Boast Busters in the slightest. It's my least favorite episode of the series. But, to be fair, Gilda isn't a villain. It just would be nice to actually have her do something. I mean, I wouldn't mind an episode where she comes back and apologizes for being rude.

For my opinion on Boast Busters... I refer to Brony Nutcase and The Fiery Joker. If you haven't seen them, do so. They are a good watch.

 

Trixie was the only good thing to come out of that episode.

 

 

And yes, it's the worst of the series, MMDW doesn't even come close.

  I wouldn't mind seeing Gilda return in a future episode.  Maybe she could redeem her character, or make things worse. Only time will tell.  Gilda acted like a huge jerk, but on the other hand, all she wanted to do was hang out with Dash, and she kept being interrupted.  It doesn't justify her actions, but I would still feel annoyed if I traveled to see someone and they were constantly being pulled away by other people, especially if I only had a limited time to visit.

 

  Trixie and Discord got their redeeming episodes, so why shouldn't Gilda get one too?
