I think this episode was only okay.

While i think that the moral was good and that some bits of the episode where funny, i felt like this episode was all over the place, to the point that i am not even sure what the writers where going for here.

I guess this episode was good enough to just go nuts with it. Not good, but not bad either.

Not to be disrespectful, but that is not an excuse for the script not being good. In that case, i can also put in a glass of mayonaise for the whole episode.

I always find Discord episodes fun, but this one actually surprised me by making me consistently sympathise with him and understand why Fluttershy keeps him around. A bit expository, and the high stakes of the climax were really not needed, but great moral and super funny. Can imagine even people nonplussed by other Discord episodes enjoying this one.

Additional thoughts:

Have we ever seen Discord's house before? It was nice to get some idea of where he lives, because I previously thought he moved in with Fluttershy. 

I'm still not onboard with this ship, but the less jerkish Discord becomes, the less resistant I am to it. Still wish there was less ship tease in this episode, however; I'm as guilty as anyone else of enjoying it (see "Rarity Investigates," which convinced me of a ship I never before considered), but this show can really dive too far into subtext sometimes. 

I wish Starlight would have some of these random unimportant roles sometimes. It would probably make her feel less like she's forced into everything and placed on a pedestal, and more like a natural part of the show; as is, you don't see Starlight unless she's driving something at least a little important.

I really enjoyed this episode. Discord was very hilarious with his crazy antics. I liked how he wanted to throw a tea party for Fluttershy for a change. It's nice to see how much he cares for her. It was funny seeing the multiple Discord's throughout the episode. It made me wonder if that would be his version of the mane 6. I liked how Discord tried to spice things up when gathering his tea party supplies. I also found it something to see Pinkie give Discord simple advice. I was expecting something crazy and over the top, but it makes sense given that she's the party planning pony. I liked how we get to see Discord's house again after a few seasons. It was cool to see Discord renovate his house, but surprising to see that it could make him vanish if he isn't his chaotic self. I found it funny how Fluttershy was expecting chaos, but was given a normal setting. I especially loved how Fluttershy tried to be chaotic to save her friend. All in all, I really liked this episode and the moral was amazing. I look forward to seeing what the season has next for us.

Well, I always knew they had good episodes in them. I still truly adore their "The Gift of the Maud Pie." This isn't my favourite episode of the season, but I'm surprised it took them this long to make something as funny as their first episode.

While looking back at that scene in the episode, I agree with what you mean. Both Pinkie and Discord can be crazy and over the top, but I'm happy that Pinkie could help give some advice for Discord on the tea party.

*Sigh* So another episode written by the wonderful writing wizards, the Fox bros. Fuck it, you already know this episode will get a thrashing from me.

Whenever I see that the Fox Bros wrote an episode, I pretty much see red. They are bar none the WORST writers in the entire 7 year run of the show at this point IMO and I am legitimately terrified that they will become the show runners for season 8.

Discordant Harmony is, to the surprise of no one, BAD in my opinion. Why is it bad? I hear you ask. Well I guess I can try and tell you.

This episode is basically Spice Up Your Life 2.0 but you know WORSE. While SUYL wasn't an amazing episode or anything it was okay...ish (6.9/10). The message was basically be yourself. don't just copy everyone else to be good, and this episode's message is don't change yourself or put on a mask for someone else so BE YOURSELF. This episode played out like a bad shipfic that was animated. 

When the only good thing about your episode are singing teabags, you might want to work on things a bit.

As for the pacing I can see this episode suffers from Dungeons & Discords syndrome where you get 2 acts of nothing and one act of something. So that is another shining plus demerit.

Character interactions... well Fluttershy is in a pretty strong Pinkie Pie mode in terms of her... energy in this episode. Discord is acting more like how Twilight would if Princess Celestia was coming when I don't really think he would care all that much if he trusts Fluttershy to accept him the way he is AND HE SHOULD. Fluttershy figures out what is wrong with Discord WAY TOO QUICK and with NO INPUT from Discord himself. Let's not have Fluttershy find out what is wrong with Discord through a couple lines of dialogue. Let's just have her instantly know cause you know, more money less work, am I right? Lets not have a interisting scene where Discord explains to Fulttershy what is happening to him and even potentially have some world building in that regard. He could have not been sure what was happening and given Fluttershy a hint to go on and have her figure it out from there. but that would actually take some effort and talent the likes of which the writers involved with this episode do not appear to possess.

"Nah let's have Discord go "What do you mean?" "Oh Really?" "What are you talking about?" While Fluttershy just magically knows everything. Besides it's show for stupid kids, they ain't gonna care, now let's get home dinner is getting cold." 

I... I just can't with this episode

Great episode. I really enjoyed it. Felt a bit dragged out at some points, but the story line itself about Discord's insecurity and just being yourself were interesting.

Before this episode, Michael P and Wil Fox mostly wrote ones focusing on Rarity. But with Pinkie and Fluttershy being the only two ponies with appearances for the first time EVER, I suspect the Foxes are neglecting Rarity by now.

This was a strange episode. The bit with Fluttershy at the end seemed very rushed (she noticed something was amiss way to fast, and then calmly came up with a solution too fast) and likewise the exposition was too long, so overall it was poorly paced (despite what I see many people saying it's far from perfect), but otherwise I enjoyed it. I really liked the message they sent the end, explaining why Fluttershy likes Discord as in the past the friendship was extremely forced.

There is some key differences in the morals that you missed. First off, SUYL is about creative expression, while this one is about your very personality. More importantly, the key theme of this episode is that some people are friends BECAUSE they are different.
