So, I kinda thought about this thread for a while, and I finally decided to make a topic today. Basically, what nicknames do you give to certain members? Also, what nicknames would you give to other members?

 

For instance, for me, it's......

 

@@Clarity - Clari, Missy

@ - Kirbs

@ - Tubbie (I stole this from Clari )

@ - Dev, Devvers

@ - Dimitri, Dimi

That's all I can think of for now. So anyways, what nicknames do you have for other members?

Jonke is Jonkeshy, Zoop is Zoopy and NewCalamity is NC,

 

Lady rarirty is Lurpy or Sludgey, yes that's the only good one I have.

 

A lot of people have too short a names and some people we just abbreviate, like Scoots.

Well my nickname for @Clarity is stalker when we decide to talk in third person... (frequently XD)

 

I usually call Razor because when we first met he was known as Razorwing and it just kind of stuck.

 

Although he isn't a very active poster, he is a good friend I refer to @Slick Skies as RD's husband when I see him on the forums. XD

I just say comrade before all of your names! That's easy enough for me and it's not something I just throw around a lot. Comrade is a term that's used for very good friends. So you're all my very good friends!!

Dimi is what my wife and mother used to call me. It's more of a affectionate term, but I don't mind being called that.

Interesting, I don't have too many nicknames myself for my friends on the forum; one of the few that comes to mind is that occasionally I'll call Chaotic Discord either just Chaotic or very rarely CD. Other than that, I really can't say that I've come up with or adopted nicknames for anypony else.

Typically, I'll refer to users by some semblance of their username, or if there's an applicable RL name or alternate name, I'll use that instead.

 

Alternatively, I'll use a two-letter or three-letter contraction: Fd0, DXF, Etb, JdF, MS, NC, GDI, StC. Though using a contraction like that is rather atypical of me. (If you were wondering,... Feld0, Dr XFizzle, Electrobolt, Jadefire, Microsoft-- I mean, uhh, Motion Spark, Neighbour Connection-- I mean, uhh, NewCalamity, Ganaram Inukshuk (Yes, there's a hidden "D"), Scootacool (Not too fond of "Scatcoal").)

 

To answer the question,... Not really, especially if it's a one-part name (and not polynomial nomenclature), like Memo or Electrobolt or whatever.

I am typically not a fan of nicknames in entirety; both making ones for others and receiving nicknames from others.

 

Which is why this

I mostly just shorten their name to what sounds like the main part of their name (Dr Xfizzle -> xfizzle or fizzle, Scootacool -> Scoot). I'll often shorten words, even if they weren't that long to begin with (Aureity -> Aur).

Also, some I use abbreviations for (Lady Rarity Pony -> LRP, NewCalamity -> NC). I have more unique nicknames for others, such as Comrade-Dimitri-Hammer -> assorted variations of "Commie Bastard" (if you don't like this, just mention it and I'll stop). Finesthour is always Finest, no matter what he changes his name to.

I don't think I've ever given anyone here a nickname before (mostly because I'm not that close with anyone here, to be honest ;_.

 

And the only nickname I've ever been given on mlpf is Tracey. It's not often that I get called that though (I would say to call me Blue, but someone else already has that as their username)

 

However, I have a whole host of nicknames on another forum I'm a member of, ranging from Sven to Mule.
