Do you drink?

I drink when i'm with friends. Sometimes we go out and grab a beer or two, sometimes we stay inside and try our hand at stirring a cocktail. But I'm actually pretty good at handling my drinks, my body viciously burns through anything i send down into it, so i rarely get smashed.

(Alcoholic) Drinking can be a major cause for abuse and domestic violence. Drunk driving accounts for about 1/3 of traffic accidents. Its bad for the person drinking and society as a whole. Heavy drinking causes many health problems like cancer, seizures, grout, nerve damage and many other health problems.

I'm against prohibition because it didn't work before, it wont work again. However, it doesn't change the fact the alcohol and drinking is a perfect way for someone to destroy their life AND the lives of others. The thing people can do is try to get people to stop drinking.

Drinking underage is a perfect way to turn a good person into an alcoholic. Which is why whoever drinks, youth or adult, I look down on.

Brohoof if you've lost someone to alcohol or a drunk driver.

Asides from the very occasional Irish whiskey during family events or dinner parties I seldom ever drink. I wouldn't ever drink to get myself drunk, I just don't see the entertainment in it, all i've seen it do is make people loud and noisy, and Ireland already has a serious issue with it's alcohol consumption. I refuse to be a part of that. :okiedokielokie: Besides, you'd be surprised how much money you save. Bar establishments here are like legal robbery!

Then sober driving causes two thirds of traffic accidents. Surely this is an argument against driving, not against drinking?

I'm trying to give it up (I'm not an alcoholic btw) but staying in on a Saturday night can get really boring for me. But I used to go out on a Friday and Saturday night. So at least I've cut drinking down to once a week instead of twice a week

*Facehoofs hard enough to leave a red mark on my head.*

I obviously am saying that drunk driving accounts for a lot of accidents. Which is accountable for a large amount of accidental causes of death in the world. This  ISN'T something you joke around about, I really hope you realize that. Hundreds of thousands of people have died from some idiot who was driving with under the influence alcohol. Do I blame alcohol for all car accidents. NO. Do I think it's a serious problem, yes and anyone who has any humanity should be thinking that as well.

Yes, I drink (water, milk, juice, hot chocolate, etc.) all the time!

...Oh, you mean alcohol? No, never. My parents have about one can of beer on special occasions, but that's it. I don't drink. I'm aware of the risks involved and have no wish to get into it.

Who said I was joking? Road traffic accidents account for around 1,250,000 deaths each year. RTAs kill more people than tuberculosis. RTAs kill more people than lung cancer. RTAs kill more people than malaria. They are the leading preventable cause of death in children aged 9 to 17.

I drink sometimes. But — whether I am drunk or sober — I never drive.

Well getting drunk still is still a major health risk, whether or not someone gets drunk before driving. I applaud that you are vigilant in that sense but I would recommend that if you drink at all you don't drink to get drunk.

Drinking alcohol? Yes, but I'm not an alcoholic and I only drink one or at least till I feel a sense of euphoria. Social drinking I can do, but I won't do contests to prove a pointless achievement and possibly hurt my liver. I can have fun with a drink though, it has to be liquor though, beer I don't like.

  • 5 years later...

I started drinking when I was 16, had lots of fun with it but then a few years ago I started getting a lot more health conscious and decided to completely quit all kinds of drugs purely because of health. That was all fine and good but within the past year I came to the realization that not all drugs are harmful and some that can be don't have to be. I started looking at it from a completely different perspective and now I do drink once in a while but not intending to just get hammered or whatever. Each drug has its own spirit, its own realm it brings you to and you just have to enter that realm with total care and respect for it and all it has to offer. Nature has these portals to other realms of consciousness that it intends us to partake of; otherwise they wouldn't exist. Our brains react to them in exactly the way they should. There's something there to be explored. And I'm not going to ignore the call of nature. It has so much to offer that no one even knows about yet.

I've never actually so much as smelled alcohol before (unless you count rubbing alcohol. Don't drink that). I'd be open to trying it in the right situation, but I'm not interested enough to try it out otherwise, so I'll most likely end up going my whole life sober.
