Yes.

 

When I was about four my grandma passed away due to cancer. My mom always tells me this story, I've heard it like a hundred times. A little while after it happened she found my older sister(who was like 5 at the time) sitting on her bed talking to herself. My mom was like "what...are you doing?" And so my sister starts telling my mom that grandma was on the bed talking to her, telling her stories. And my mom was kind of weirded out, but then my sister starts talking about how grandma was telling her about a dog named Skippy. My mom had never heard the name before, so she asked her aunt about it. Sure enough my grandpa(who passed away with cancer before I was born) had a dog named Skippy when he was younger. My aunt thought it was random for her to ask, and so my mom told her what had happened. Nobody told my sister about the dog, nobody ever said anything about it.

 

And yet she started talking about the dog, which nobody had ever mentioned to her.

Great post, and thanks for sharing. When enough stories like this are accumulated, there should be a "tipping point" where an assembly of these tales can be collected and reviewed and authored to their sources and signed off on or something. It's still far from scientific proof, but how in the hay are we dealing with something that science can tackle, if they barely have a hold on what consciousness is in the first place?

I used to live in Colorado, and for the first year in that house I slept in the basement room.  It was a new house, relatively, and nothing bad that I know of ever happened there, but let me tell you, that room had some very bad vibes.  Very late at night, I would hear noises like footsteps overhead, or sawing on the pipes, or even something scratching from the other side of the walls.  One time as I was sitting up reading, something even whispered in my ear.  I couldn't catch the words, just ran for it.  And then finally, one night I was just about to drift off to sleep when everything on my shelving unit fell to the floor on its own.  It made a lot of noise, and it lasted for several minutes.  The whole time I was just lying there, frozen because I was so scared.  It took me forever to get to sleep, and when I woke up the next morning, everything was right back in its place.

 

So, do I believe in ghosts?  Yes and no.  I believe that there is some form of spiritual energy, maybe from departed human souls, maybe from an entirely different race of creatures, that from time to time affects our lives.  Malicious or not, dangerous or not, I'm sure there's some other side to our universe, just on the fringes of our perception.

I'm undecided. I've had strange things happen to me, but never enough to make me think ghosts. Though my family has told me many stories about their experiences, and it's made me wonder.

Well my little ponies,believe it or not ghosts actually exist.There are all around us.People who died,they still can roam the Earth,but not forever.And i dunno if demons are counted as ghosts but these fuckers exist too.And yes,they can reach you,sometimes they will uncover themselves for you to see,they will lie to you and shit.As i said such things exist,you should not fuck with paranormal stuff.

^ I do agree with this individual above me. Four years ago I involved myself with a bunch of Otherkin, and they turned my world upside down. I found myself repeatedly in situations where I could tell myself "I did not know that was possible."

 

But it does lead somewhere really positive if you are curious enough to look into it. I'm really happy that I am where I am because of where it was able to lead me. Vague post is vague. Probably on purpose. Can o' worms here, is that this is.

I'm Christian, so I believe in angels and demons; these beings are among us. However, I don't believe that relatives who have died can come back to earth, rather they passed on to the afterlife. I also don't think ghosts are real (I'm talking about the ones that scare people or whatever).

 

Reading this topic reminds me of a story my mom told me. Whe she was a teenager, she had a sleepover at her friend's house one night. Her friend so happened to have those Oja (don't know how to spell this) board game. While they were playing it, all of a sudden the disk thing started to move. My mom's friend thought she was doing it, but my mom said she wasn't. Neither of their hands were on the disk. He next day the friend three the game out. Pretty creepy if you ask me.

I used to believe option one, but I came to the conclusion that they're demons who impersonate the dead after I became a Christian (option two). Most hauntings are just fake or explained by natural occurrences though.

I believe it could be something along the lines of simply negative energy left after a traumatic event that just lingers. I mean people die in hospitals all the time, why aren't those places haunted af? And usually those explanations of hauntings usually have dark pasts. 

 

Yes. I do believe in ghosts, I've had one unexplainable incident occur, and I've gone through the list. I've had other odd things happen, but it's rather ambiguous as to if it was something supernatural. 

I've also gone looking for answers, but have yet to receive any. Perhaps it's better that way.

I may be an atheist, but I do believe in spirits, sprites, and the after life because of personal experiences I've dealt with. I don't think you have to believe in a god for those things to be real or happen. There are many areas of science we haven't even touched on and have yet to discover. I don't believe in things without evidence though, and despise psuedo-sciences. I probably wouldn't believe in the things I do if I hadn't had my own experience, but I think most ghost experiences and etc are just people having over active imaginations. You tell someone a house is haunted enough times, and they're going to report having 'chills' and 'weird feelings' if they are likely to be easily influenced. The stories are still fun and I appreciate a good ghost story.

I'm a rather sceptical person when it comes to anything religious and/or supernatural (that does not mean I don't have my own religious beliefs) and tend not to believe in it, (especially not how it is portrayed most of the times). Most of these phenomena can and have been proven to be nothing supernatural. That said, I absolutely love getting to the bottom of such things.

 

Where I come from, there does not seem to be any place without legends, myths and indeed ghost stories and I love every single one of them. That said, I don't believe them to be true.

Yup, I believe in ghosts and spirits, although I've never encountered one personally. That being said, I don't put too much stock into many "ghost hunting" shows, other than Ghost Hunters, as obvious script is obviously obvious! Ghost Hunters at least makes itself seem more legit when they debunk more hauntings than they prove...

 

Ghosts can haunt just about any place, new or old, and for any number of reasons, not just revenge, unfinished business, or whatever other cliche reason you can think of...

I definitely don't believe in the modern concept of ghosts or spirits. The ones that are believed to still haunt this world for one reason or another. I have always doubted this concept and never seen anything to help diminish this doubt. Then me and my brother stayed in the Waverly Hills Sanatorium, supposedly one of the most haunted places in the world, for about 4 hours and we experienced absolutely nothing. Some have said that spirits aren't always active and all that sort of thing, which sure, that could be the case, but it made me not bother any further with the idea. Everything else I have seen has never been even remotely true. Not even close.

 

So overall I don't believe in that stuff anymore.

I certainly believe in them. I strongly believe my former house was haunted, as I'd be woken up at night over strange occurrences. Sometimes, I'd also hear sounds at night inside that house. What were they exactly, you ask?

 

I'm not sure myself. They woke me up and sometimes I could hear fighting and arguing with them. Strange, isn't it?
