    I wonder if people will truly unsub when famous brony musicians leave the fandom. With Alex S still being the fourth highest subscribed former brony musician and many others still being quite high a year or two after they've left I'm assuming the answer is no. To me when people leave the fandom i have no interest in following them further. They get the idea that having a generic non-pony theme to their music makes them more interesting and more popular in the long run but the reason i subscribe to brony musicians is because they channel the show and take part in the community. I won't follow them out the door when they leave. Unsubbed although i wish them best of luck.

    So FIMM and BMD did a top active brony musicians list for 2014. If someone had over 1k in ytube subs and put out at least one pony themed track in 2014 they were included. That gave us just over 200 people. here is also that active list or one that includes the great musicians from the past combined. Congrats to those who made the lists and we hope you check out whom you might have missed making music!

    I find most of the women in the fandom are in niche subgroups like cosplay or art. It's unfortunate that there seems to be somewhat of a divide between the guys and girls in this fandom.

    When it's done well it's pretty cool. Violence or gore that doesn't have even a slight tangent to something that the show MAY have nodded off to is somewhat pointless. Stuff like Cheerilee's Garden, A Puppet To Her Fame, The Secret Life of Rarity, Rainbow Factory, And Cupcakes have enough ties to the source material to actually work. But the devil is in the details and whether the writer, artist, tumblr asker, or musician can do it with skill or if its just sloppy hatchet work. Horror might seem out of place in MLP but since sex and horror are part of human interests its not that weird to put MLP thru that prism and see what you get. As long as you label it mature and keep it from the general fandom let it exist as there's a lot of fans of it.

    Wow people came out by the boatload over the pirating comment. It's shame that we need 3 people to repeat what the first person critiqued you on. Shame to hear the Sim 4 and 3 are both well known for being glitchy and incomplete. I was a Sims 2 modder and having the ability to change all kinds of appearances, locations, and behaviors in that game were a huge reason for its success. I really don't think that the move to Sims 3 justified all the modding it lost. You can actually download Sims 2 direct from EA for free as they have it out there for anyone who wants it. It's a shame that the vast network of modding sites and downloads for it are almost all gone but I know there's people still playing it out there as they had it pretty well supported and just about anyone could create what they wanted to w/o a tone of coding.

    that's a rather nice cover. I love the original and they def did it justice. 6/10 Great 90's one hit wonder that was barely a hit but should have been. Lead singer looks like he should have been in a Tarantino movie or been related to Christopher Walken.

    Honestly I don't see what the point of your post is. If Hasbro puts out a half-baked movie concept, it's not up to the fans to fix it. Or if you feel it is, do it in a fimfiction. Writing out a massive post on what you'd change doesn't really change a thing (and is more suitable for a blog post). There's a load of things I'd change about EQGirls but the main one is the terrible premise; having an adult princess thrown into high school life was just a ploy to sell to toys and cash in on Barbie, Monster High, Ever After, etc. It's insulting to the characters and their brony fans and leaving a load of toys unpurchased in their toy aisles this year. And by doing that Hasbro did more harm than good in my book. And that you can't really fix.

    TBH it's a good fic but there's been some better reads out there. While i like that it does have an all ages feel it does have a bit lacking overall and missed opportunities. Like a lot of popular fictions it came out early in the fandom, got a lot of great support, and has coasted a bit since. Nothing wrong with that. The campaign to get ppl to make it into a film is a bit hard to fathom when many fan projects of that scope (Journey of the Spark) have fallen short.... It takes much more than "someone should make this" to make a year + project happen.

    Dubstep invades Ponyville and many ponies have just had their fill of it and are furious by their sleepless nights and vibrating buildings. Applejack in particular says enough is enough and burns down the local danceclub right outside her farm early one morning. She accidentally sets off a musical backlash that affects all corners of Equestria with dj's fleeing for their lives as mobs of ponies protest against EDM. This track is of course a ponified version of The Smiths classic track. Enjoy. No dj's were harmed in the making of this song.*** Don't take its msg so seriously. Just to make my life saner here's the remaining Maressey songs still unclaimed. Most have an instrumental and all need a vocalist currently.     In the fimfic Diaries of a Madman they explain that Discord knows "true magic" which is the ability to bend reality (something that Pinkie Pie surprisingly enough is also able to do in a more minimal fashion when she breaks the fourth wall, pulls cupcakes from objects, and pop out of impossibly small areas). They state that after the sister's near loss to Discord that the alicorn sisters moved from "real magic" to "spells" to minimize giving him power over this chaotic energy (leading to somewhat of a rift between Celestia and Starswirl incidentally). Not a bad theory tbh, Bending reality is a massive godlike power and it's Discord's Immortality that leads to enough boredom that he allows others to have a chance to beat him. When you're all powerful and thousands of years old you're likely both somewhat insane and willing to do many bizarre things just to make life interesting (including losing somewhat on purpose)....something that even Celestia has done many times (lose just so Twilight can learn and better herself)

    So news: http://mlpmaressey.tumblr.com/post/104080445398/ok-at-some-point-i-needed-to-think-about-what-the Ok at some point I needed to think about what the Maressey album would look like and would it be just ONE? While the themes often change each week on the new release I was hoping we'd get to the character arcs where songs start telling stories of several ships, with each song telling a different chapter of that storyline over its course. The best place for this to happen is with the album releases so each album has a theme. Therefore I've proposed collecting the songs in 4 themed albums, with one for Rarijack, Flutterdash, Twiluna, and one a general bronies topics theme. Four just works for the amount of character themes involved and the progress so far on each. . The number indicates song progress. 5 is a completed song, 4 has an instrumental and a vocal with it in the mixing stage. 3's often have a far along instrumental but are needing a vocal or further instrument work. 2's or lower are very much a wip instrumental draft or perhaps have nothing yet if lower. Any song that is crossed out could have been part of the album if someone took charge and made the song but is otherwise not likely going to be attempted to make it just due to time constraints. They are non essential to album completion so we are likely skipping them. Can't make every Maressey song into a reality. First Album (Rarijack theme, includes Big Mac, Sweetie Belle, and Spike) 10 songs. This album is closest to done so will be the focus to release first.     Ponifying allows you to crossover different fandoms or take something real world and show how the same themes can relate to the show. One of my biggest vids was an MLP and Gravity Falls Crossover and I also did a successful MLP meets L4d2 song using pony mods for the pmv. I'm currently doing a musical crossover with the songs and music of The Smiths as Maressey using ponification (much like the Beatle Bronies did The Beatles). I love ponies, i love The Smiths, and i love combining them and think that works well. Is it really so strange?

    I think it should be an important part of being in this fandom. I mean if you watch the show but don't believe in the principles behind it then you're missing the point. Then again some people are here just to make sexist jokes, hang out with fellow guys, and buy into memes and maybe they are just as entitled to be here. There will always be some people like that but it takes a little more strength to be thoughtful and kind.

    My OC was originally drawn off a slightly askewed Vinyl Scratch that Crooked Trees. It was more masculine and then mane was a bit more green in that original drawing. I originally used Dj-P0n3 as my musician name before i realized how uncool that was (although the Official Vinyl Scratch seems to be a top 10 musician despite making overt pino). Once it was Freewave I also changed my main avatar to a rule 63 VScratch with same mane color change and a bit of groin censoring (art by RawrCharlieRawr). Backstory? Freewave is actually a changeling who has amnesia and has been living with ponies with so long he does not know his true nature. It explains why the music he makes takes on a constantly changing form (genre flexible), why he went by a different name initially, and why he goes through often crushing lows when tracks receive minimal appreciation. Gimme love, gimme all that ya got.

    I'm glad to see an article on this in regards to toys. I went to Target with my twins(8 yr old boy,girl) and it was really saddening to see Hasbro ruining its retail line with poor choices. No MLP shirts (just pajamas) and for girls only. My son if he wanted anything couldn't get it in anything other than a girl's size which isn't treating the show as gender neutral as they sometimes claim it is intended. Add to that the dreaded pink aisle where we've gotten used to exploring, but now it only had Equestria Girls dolls (anorexic looking Monster High wannabee's), Rainbowfied brushables (ugly cutie marks up and down legs and messed up mane's), the Pop line which is rather boring, blind bags and small figurines (meh), and the cheap plushies. They're still riding on the coattails of EQG and the S4 Finale but not bothering to go after even the boys market or bronies in the least. Why can't we get brushables that were in prior sets like Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon, Luna, Chrysalis, or any villains. Where's Big Mac, Bon Bon, Dj Pon-3 and Braeburn? Where are all the side ponies in the show?? Stop trying to sell the 5th variation of Twilight Sparkle and feature some background ponies who haven't been done at all! Imagine if there was a S4 Maude, Coca Pommel, Cheese Sandwich figures. Instead its all tired cliches and gender specific swag that will just sit on shelves. Disappointing!!

    The brief vids I've seen on youtube seem to cater to what I've come to expect from the earlier generations. FIM is in the now and written from the get go to be something different from what traditional young girl-focused tv show like Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake. It aims quite a bit higher, flash animation, not so girly, and not specifically with young ages in mind (ie something there parents or teens would like too). I just don't get that same vibe from any of the earlier series I've seen. There's a seed of something there that that FIM did sprout out of but its nothing I would watch over the 4 seasons of FIM we have. And that's why for the most part ppl don't want to backtrack to earlier generations and vhs rips of the show.....It's just NOT the same.
