I don't mind if it's asked without malice. I'm fine talking about my reasons for liking the show, they're pretty simple to be honest. Its when the question is phrased "why do you watch this horse dung?" that I don't like answering it. No matter how I respond to that, I incriminate myself.

Honestly, I don't mind one bit. I always tell people with honesty. I love the show because I do. if they can't handle that, well.... kinda sucks to be them huh? It just depends on how they ask. If they ask out of genuine curiosity about the show and why I watch it then that is cool. If someone was to ask in a "What the hell is wrong with you? Why do you watch this shit?" kind of way then it would annoy me.

Not to mention the somewhat controversial views people have on the show in America or Europe, down here where I am the show is almost unheard of. To start explaining why I'm interested in it is really to open a can of worms that I'd much rather avoid.

Nah, I love explaining to people that the show is great and they should watch it too. Also If I am in public I am in a store that sells pony merch so people just think it is normal for a brony person to be in there

It does irritate me a bit if someone has to ask that question. I mean, if they just genuily are curious on the qualities of the show, then the question is perfectly fine, but often, when one asks that, it is a kneejerk response to the fact that said person said they like 'My Little Pony' and they cannot fathom how a male could ever like that. That gets old.

It doesn't bother me. It's not an identity thing, it's just a thing I like along with a lot of other things. If people ask, it's simply a cute show I enjoy enough to have been involved in the fandom since its inception.

If they ask a question they are likely curious and might not have a defined opinion on it. And if they are curious they are easier to turn to the pony side than someone with a defined opinion. So questions do not offend me at all.

Well the only response such a question really elicits is "Yeah I enjoy watching MLP from time to time. It's a pretty good show."

 

I don't have to go into details, I don't need to say how much I love the show or its fandom, I don't need to talk about any involvement in fan stuff or whatever. I just give them an answer, and even if I detected a hint of cynicism in their voice, there's no reason to discuss it further.

People never really question my interest and normally don't talk to me anyways since I am the quiet girl of the class and like to doodle ponies on my work and such. But the rare times someone did ask, I simply said "I just do"
